01. start — not actually the start.
小林洋介 こばやしようすけ
kobayashi yousuke the main personality for most of their life after their orphanage was burnt down, he lived quite an ordinary life aside from being a police investigator, had a girlfriend he loved dearly and couldn't stand seeing corpses in real life, even being nauseous and vomiting at the sight. he suffered from nightmares about committing murders, and sometimes would vividly remember them when faced with corpses. while tracking a serial killer, he ended up as a target himself and ended up receiving his own girlfriend dismembered (but alive*) in his office while he was working.
being left horrified, the police tracked the killer, and while being face to face with kobayashi yousuke, the killer claimed that they were the same, just from looking into his eyes when a tv program showed kobayashi investigating, mocking kobayashi yousuke, saying he returned his girlfriend alive, and even laughing at the realization that she was killed by "him" turning off her life support. this interaction led nishizono shinji to take front and upon enough warnings that the killer "talked too much", nishizono shinji took it upon himself to shoot him dead.
西園伸二 にしぞのしんじ
nishizono shinji introduced and characterized by his impulsive and temperamental nature, acting mostly on feeling rather than logic, and with a dastard personality that loves joking and referencing shows. he works mostly in the shadows, and is cold and uncaring to most that come by him, however, he does seem to care — though a little less than the average human — for kobayashi yousuke, amamiya kazuhiko, and his employer. shinji once took on jobs on the dark side of japan carefreely under the alias "multiple personality detective".
narc note: i actually don't fuckin' know where the psycho comes from in mpd pdycho, could be shinji, could be literally fuck everyone but kobayashi and kazuhiko, they're quite innocent compared to... literally EVERYONE in this damn manga — actually scratch that and crown sasayama.
