SYNOPSES: 1983
JANUARY 3-7, 1983
Stacey acted peculiar when James mentioned researching Congressman, Mark Singleton, for a new novel he's writing. Louis' estranged wife, Felicia Gallant, arrived along with her chauffeur and lover, Gil Fenton. Ada and Quinn tried to keep Steve from learning that Rachel had financed his business. R.J. refused to implicate the drug pushers or discuss Bob's death. Henry and Johann were killed and Fred and Louis were arrested by Larry and Interpol. Mac and Liz were impressed with Sandy's undercover work but sympathized with Blaine. Elena insisted on consoling Cecile despite James and Stacey's warnings. Cass told Sally that Felicia will milk the scandal involving Louis to increase book sales. Liz and Clarice arranged for Sandy to see Blaine. Cecile vowed vengeance on Sandy once she realized he used her to apprehend Louis. Quinn told Steve she's happy R.J. is trying to get his act together, hoped Thomasina will date, and admitted she keeps busy to cope with Bob's death. Felicia informed Cass she knows about Louis' fortune that is hidden in a Swiss account, but was unaware of Cecile. Blaine told Sandy they must rebuild trust and not live together until they are married. Cass advised Elena that Cecile's hatred towards Louis may change once she learns he is weathy. Louis hired expensive and infamous lawyer Reuben Marino to represent him.
JANUARY 10-14, 1983
Steve walked out on Rachel after he confronted her about secretly financing Frame Construction. Quinn was touched by Roy's kind gestures and job offer with his company should Steve fire her. Louis accused Elena of turning Cecile against him. Peter's snobby sister, Donna, made an acerbic comment to Sally about her being a coworker of Peter's. Ada comforted Rachel, who feared Steve left her for good. Julia was ecstatic and star-struck when Liz permitted her to work as a secretary for Felicia. Elena was in anguish after Stacey requested she testify for Sandy because of her fervent belief that Cecile loves Maggie while being unable to ignore Cecile's reputation. Roy and Henrietta discussed plans for the construction of her new restaurant. Cass considered starting his own publishing company with Felicia as his star author. Mac's love for Rachel resurfaced upon learning of Steve and Rachel's fight from Ada, who pleaded with him to stay away from Rachel or risk being hurt. Cecile plotted to get Louis' fortune from his Swiss bank account and surprised Elena by carrying on about being cruel to her father. Gil was jealous over Felicia's ostentatious displays of affection towards Cass. Larry and Clarice were happy that Sandy and Blaine are still in love and starting over. Stacey was perplexed by James and Rachel's interest in Maggie. Cass convinced Reuben to represent Cecile.
JANUARY 17-21, 1983
Louis bribed Felicia so she would speak well of him at a press conference, unaware Reuben schemed to paint Felicia as a blackmailer. Elena was appalled when she overheard Cecile debating on leaving Maggie in her care and claiming Louis' fortune. Mac was hurt by Rachel's admission that Steve is her one true love. Cecile left Maggie with Elena and moved into Louis' penthouse without a second thought. Sally told Peter that she was hurt by Donna and won't tolerate him taking Donna's side against her. Julia was undeterred by Cass's advice to avoid Gil. Mac threw a party for Felicia, who was envious over the attention Rachel received. Reuben had Louis bargain with Felicia to maintain her support, concluded that Elena can be trusted, and saw through Cecile's act as a loving daughter. Rachel was enraged by Steve's ultimatum they can rebuild trust through marriage. R.J. blurted out that his reckless actions caused Bob's death. Elena told Stacey she may testify on Sandy's behalf upon witnessing Sandy and Blaine's devotion to Maggie. Julia decided to date Peter in hopes of making James jealous. Larry, Henrietta, Stacey, and Quinn were relieved that R.J. was placed into a rehabilitation program. Elena and Blaine stood firm against Cecile's desperate attempts to follow Reuben's orders to see Maggie. Reuben realized Cecile's sole interest lies in getting Louis' fortune.
JANUARY 24-28, 1983
Ada and James convinced Steve and Rachel to reconcile and get married. Mac instructed Cass to strike a solid publishing deal with Felicia. Sally defended herself against Donna's insults. R.J. was sullen towards Roy and Henrietta's plans to make her restaurant a family business. Sandy and Reuben were skeptical over Cecile's dedication to motherhood. Donna was mortified when Peter got into a drunken stupor and blurted out that one of the four Love children is illegitimate. Gil sensed Cass had ulterior motives as he implied to Felicia that Mac's interest in her is non-committal. Elena agreed to be executrix of Louis' fortune in his Swiss account. Roy respected Henrietta's need to sort out her life before considering romance. Sandy and Blaine had Stacey prepare a document that would renounce his claim on Maggie's inheritance. Julia was amused as Felicia seductively offered to help James add romance to the characters in his novels. Louis grew disillusioned by Cecile as she ranted about him entrusting Elena to administer his fortune. Mac was despondent over Steve and Rachel and left town for a few days. Rachel and James kept their suspicions that James fathered Maggie quiet. Cass and Cecile slept together much to Reuben's concern. Elena confessed she loves Mac in response to Brian's marriage proposal. Cecile was disgusted that Louis expects her to attend his hearing at the French Embassy with Felicia.
JANUARY 31 - FEBRUARY 4, 1983
Donna hired private detective Barrows to investigate Sally's past. Cass squirmed over Cecile's grandiose plans for them to live the good life with Maggie's inheritance. Stacey felt Sandy's release of Maggie's fortune was strong evidence and balked at Reuben's advice she drop the custody case. Mac realized he and Rachel can never be more than friends. Cass asked Stacey to locate their rich cousin, Alan Lewis to request a loan. Peter was undaunted when Sally ended their relationship due to Donna's interference. Mac told Ada and James that he's decided to give Rachel custody of Amanda. James was curious about Stacey's connection to Mark Singleton as they kissed. Henrietta gushed to Roy about the important people that will be at the party she's catering for Dr. Abel Marsh. Cass convinced Felicia that she can't get the best publishing deal with Mac. Cecile claimed entitlement to Louis' fortune while Felicia demanded a settlement from him. Larry and Henrietta noted R.J.'s veiled remarks about Bob. Steve was killed and Rachel blinded in a car accident during a snow storm. Elena was moved and Reuben stunned by Louis' newfound integrity because he planned to surrender himself to the French authorities. Gil apologized to Julia for coming on strong with her. Everyone was devastated about the car accident and rushed to the hospital to await news on Rachel.
FEBRUARY 7-11, 1983
Mac was miffed that Rachel rejected his help. Felicia learned Elena may become trustee of Louis' fortune and launched a lawsuit against her for a settlement from Louis. Roy and Rachel convinced Quinn to keep Frame Construction running. Cass made a publishing deal with Felicia by asserting he regards his career and responsibility to her most important. Gil grew ashamed of being a chauffeur who provides sexual favors and asked Quinn for a job so he could face his mother, Marie. Louis and Elena were disgusted when Reuben had Cecile play the doting mother for publicity. Mac acted cordial but was secretly angry towards Cass for resigning from Cory Publishing. Blaine laughed that Felicia propositioned Sandy to join Winthrop Publishing. Stacey was shocked to learn James believes he is Maggie's father. Cass and Felicia celebrated their business partnership by sleeping together. Reuben discredited Sandy's testimony by forcing him to confess his past as a hustler. Gil cautioned Felicia not to fall in love with Cass. Reuben concluded that Blaine was dangerous and mentally unstable once he dismissed her testimony about Alma. Cecile became sexually demanding towards Cass. R.J. was appreciative to Larry and Thomasina for their attention. Stacey was dismayed as Reuben taunted Elena about keeping Cecile's parentage secret in retaliation to her assessment of Cecile as a mother on the stand.
FEBRUARY 14-18, 1983
Dr. Abel Marsh planned to release Rachel from the hospital as her condition improved. Louis was silent as Cecile enthused over their life together once Maggie's custody has been settled. Mac promoted Peter to assume Cass's job at Cory Publishing because of his credentials and Sally's recommendation. Larry and Clarice were pleased by R.J.'s visits and hoped that he's gaining a sense of direction and purpose. Donna became determined to unearth Sally's intentions for Peter while showing an open display of contempt. Stacey and Sandy were upset that Judge Stevens was moved by Cecile's performance as the injured party. Blaine was tormented by nightmares of Alma and Buzz. Brian advised Mac that Rachel needs time to start over but tried to convince Rachel to accept Mac's help. Cass downplayed his involvement with Cecile to prove his loyalty to Felicia. Louis threw Cecile into hysterics when he stated that she seeks custody of Maggie to gain the inheritance. Quinn was grateful to Gil for protecting her against Cullen, a disgruntled employee, and gave him a job. Reuben threatened to tarnish Felicia's public image unless she drops her lawsuit against Elena. Louis prepared to leave for France once he was disowned by Cecile and redeemed in Elena's eyes. Sandy was awarded sole custody of Maggie, causing Cecile to claim that Sandy isn't the baby's father.
FEBRUARY 21-25, 1983
Judge Stevens awarded Elena temporary custody of Maggie. Louis vowed not to coddle Cecile and bade Elena farewell. Dr. Abel Marsh informed Mac, Ada, and James that Rachel may become bitter if her blindness is permanent. Sandy grew disturbed over his violent impulses towards Cecile and asked Stacey to help prepare legal recourse. Rachel returned home and decided to have Amanda live with Mac until she regains her sight. Roy and Henrietta celebrated the launch of her catering business. Peter and Sally snubbed Donna when she extended dinner invitations to them. Cecile dismissed Elena's offer to live at her guest house until she realized she can control Sandy and James' access to Maggie there. Sally broke a date with Gil when Peter made plans for them to have a romantic evening together. Stacey convinced James to have paternity tests done, which Sandy deemed unnecessary since he felt he has nothing to prove. Mac urged Quinn to visit Rachel and planned to get Vivien a job as Rachel's housekeeper. Cass told Cecile he slept with Felicia to ensure their business success and asked Cecile to hide their affair. Cullen made threats against Frame Construction. James warned Cecile he will sue for custody of Maggie and deny her the baby's inheritance. Felicia respected Gil for standing firm on keeping his new job. Quinn and Henrietta were relieved that R.J. opened up about his troubles and mistakes.
FEBRUARY 28 - MARCH 4, 1983
Rachel warmly greeted Vivien and gave her a job. Larry ordered a tap on the Frame office phones to track down Cullen, who harassed the company while evading Gil and the police. Quinn considered adopting Thomasina and consulted Stacey. James was angered by Sandy's refusal to have paternity tests done and demanded that Blaine convince Sandy to change his mind. Ada was pleased once Rachel started mobility therapy sessions with Linda Taggert and made quick strides. Henrietta and Quinn decided to let R.J. and Thomasina date since they have matured well. Liz was smitten by Mac's old friend, British author Reginald Fearing who came for a visit. Henrietta was dismayed when Abel paid for the party she catered and left with Quinn rather than take a tour of her restaurant. Gil insisted that Marie accept his support. Larry encouraged R.J. to follow in Bob's footsteps and become a cop. Reginald trained Mac to pose as a British hospital administrator named John Caldwell so he could get close to Rachel. Cecile charmed James as she mused about him being a father and leaving Maggie with him to raise once she gains custody. Roy was wounded by Henrietta's envy towards the attention Quinn received from Abel. Mac convinced Sandy to take the paternity test. James told Stacey that he wants to spend more time with her. Felicia reminded Cass she won't tolerate him seeing other women when Cecile asked Cass to accompany her to court.
MARCH 7-11, 1983
James was devastated that paternity tests proved Sandy is Maggie's father and Sandy was awarded custody. Donna received a dossier on Sally from Barrows. Stacey agreed to help Quinn adopt Thomasina and sought to locate her aunt, Lily Mason. Cecile didn't receive sympathy from Elena or Sandy when she realized she's broke. Felicia embarked on a promotional tour and allowed Julia to write rough drafts of Felicia's future novels per Cass's suggestion. Quinn saw Cullen escape after he got into a brawl with Gil. Rachel reminded James that he's free from Cecile and should change his attitude towards Stacey. Donna was stunned that Peter plans to marry Sally. James interviewed Mark, causing Stacey to panic and confess to Elena they once had an affair. Rachel had Brian contact Emil Betz, a renowned eye specialist in Zurich. Felicia hired Cecile as an art director but warned her and Cass not to have a personal relationship. Larry feared Cullen will cause more trouble. Mark reminisced about his past romance with Stacey. Rachel abruptly ended a therapy session with John Caldwell (Mac) when she touched some clay and became depressed. Sandy hoped to minimize his encounters with Cecile. James declared his love to Stacey, who was distracted by Mark's presence. Gil fretted he can't compete with Peter during a casual evening with Sally. Henrietta vied for Abel's attention while playing matchmaker between Roy and Quinn.
MARCH 14-18, 1983
Larry and Blaine were stunned by the arrival of their mother Jeanne, who was tended by Clarice after she collapsed. Stacey resisted Mark's efforts to renew their past romance by insisting she has started over with James. Cecile was upset that Cass must acquiesce to Felicia's decisions and schemes to keep Winthrop Publishing afloat until she's no longer needed. Roy and Quinn were baffled that Henrietta arranged a date for them. Larry and Blaine learned from Ella Fitz that their mother, Jeanne visited her. Dr. Betz agreed to conduct an eye examination on Rachel. Stacey confessed to James her affair with Mark and swore she is over him. Abel made Henrietta jealous when he cancelled dinner plans because of an emergency case and asked to speak with Quinn. Rachel opined that John Caldwell's therapy sessions were useless and tried to discourage his visits. Janet Singleton, Mark's wife, asked his campaign manager, Zack Hill, to find out if Mark's uneasiness involves the Brava story in development about his career. Mac was hurt by Rachel pining for Steve but was resolute in offering help. Julia focused on her writing and dated fellow college student, Barry Durrell. Gil was promoted to management at Frame Construction. John (Mac) grew tired of Rachel's self-pity and ordered her to mold clay. Mark felt pressured by Zack and Janet and considered suspending his Senate campaign.
MARCH 21-25, 1983
Larry tried in vain to assure Jeanne that Blaine doesn't despise her. Stacey disliked that Lily seemed too eager to sign the papers so Quinn could adopt Thomasina. Barry flattered Julia by asking her on a date while she was working at Felicia's penthouse. Sandy and James almost caused Rachel to discover Mac has been posing as John. Elena refused to discuss marriage with Brian. Mark acted defiant towards James' demands that he stay out of Stacey's life. Blaine struggled to communicate with Jeanne despite Larry and Sandy's encouragement. Abel and Ada didn't share Rachel's optimism that she will regain her sight through Dr. Betz. Thomasina was surprised when Lily visited her unexpectedly. Henrietta implied to Abel that Roy and Quinn are more than colleagues. Brian warned Donna that she'll risk being alone like Iris if she interferes in other people's lives. Cecile urged Cass to court Felicia to keep her from suspecting that they are having an affair. Zack and Janet gave Mark space and permitted him to see Stacey, certain he'll resume the Senate campaign once Stacey rejects him. Roy told Quinn that he regrets falling for Henrietta because of her interest in Abel. Cecile denied receiving a blackmail tape from Alma, who also sent one to Sandy swearing vengeance on him. Rachel realized that John's friendship and therapy sessions are good for her as she departed for Zurich.
MARCH 28 - APRIL 1, 1983
Mac decided not to cancel the Brava story on Mark and let Sandy resume his investigation. Felicia received divorce papers from Louis and worried Cass is still involved with Cecile. Sally was glad Peter has been distancing himself from Donna. Henrietta spent time with Prince despite warnings from Quinn, Roy, and Gil that she's being targeted. Zack spied on Mark begging Stacey for her friendship and reported it to Janet. Larry advised Cecile to tell the police if she receives a tape from Alma or face trouble. Sandy suspected Mark has business in town once he learned from real estate agent, Mrs. Franklin, that Mark has rented some property. Cecile admitted to Cass that Alma blackmailed her but omitted the details of her role in torturing Blaine. Ada disliked Jeanne due to her negative, abrasive attitude. Mark tried to assure Elena that he loves Stacey and his intentions are to protect her. Cullen was apprehended and sent to jail. Gil kept tabs on Quinn due to mysterious construction site accidents. Henrietta was upset because Roy agreed with Quinn about Prince but put on a cheerful front as she honored Mac for his financial support at her grand opening celebration. Barry kissed Julia while they were on a date. Blaine vowed to kill Alma after she received another tape of Alma taunting her over getting revenge and being undetectable. Mac planned a dinner party in hopes of helping Jeanne reconcile with her family.
APRIL 4-8, 1983
Cecile lied that she received jewelry in a cassette-sized package when Sandy badgered her about getting a tape from Alma. Quinn signed Thomasina's adoption papers for social worker, Rita Kent. Stacey tried to sort out her feelings for Mark and James. Gil spent a tense evening with his unhappily married parents, George and Marie. Peter ordered Donna out of his life after she wondered if Sally's past would matter to him. Henrietta dismissed Quinn and R.J.'s claims that Prince has been suspected of embezzlement and hustles wealthy women. Larry pressed Cecile on Alma to no avail. Lily's hints of having financial problems didn't convince Quinn to grant her a loan. Sandy pumped Elena for information on Mark. Felicia showed her vulnerability to Cass. Gil described his sad upbringing and Sally mentioned seeing the seamier side of life as Donna eavesdropped. Elena and Stacey warned Mark that Sandy is investigating his past. Cecile panicked when she realized Alma will search for Blaine's diary that's hidden in the Cory estate. Mac's dinner party for the Ewings was ruined because Jeanne acted defensive and made a cruel comment about Cory being illegitimate. Mark advised Zack he plans to admit his affair with Stacey to protect her from being exposed. Vivien unwittingly gave Cecile's whereabouts to Alma. Julia was bothered over Barry getting serious about her and Felicia being dissatisfied with her work.
APRIL 11-15, 1983
Jeanne was impressed by the Cory family's wealth. Sally grew indecisive towards her romance with Peter and feelings for Gil. Roy's pleas about Prince's shady background fell on deaf ears as Henrietta considered hiring Prince to work for her business. Larry and Vivien found Cecile snooping around the Cory Mansion. James was upset because Mark rented a cabin near Stacey. Rachel admitted she cares for John Caldwell and was eager to resume therapy sessions with him. Peter's mood turned sour when Donna alluded to Gil and Sally having an intimate conversation. Zack and Janet hired a phony reporter named Quintin Mills to threaten Mark and Stacey with a scandal. Mac worried about being exposed once Cecile realized he's masquerading as John Caldwell. Barry felt ignored by Julia and broke up with her. Henrietta became disillusioned by Prince, who requested a loan to pay bills. Donna ordered Barrows to spy on Sally. Sandy shifted his investigation to unearth Zack's power plays after Mark revealed his past with Stacey and his suspicions of Zack. Julia focused on writing drafts for Felicia's new novel while getting to know student, Evan Grant. Roy concluded that Lily wants Quinn's money and demanded she leave the Frame offices. Cecile told Cass she's willing to extort money from Mac to bribe Alma. Rachel was frightened by noise Alma made as she escaped from Rachel's studio with Blaine's diary.
APRIL 18-22, 1983
James felt pushed aside by Stacey because of Mark, who tried to convince James that he's protecting Stacey from scandals. Rachel regained her sight and saw that John Caldwell is Mac. Sandy enlisted Peter's help in linking Zack and Quintin to the tabloid syndicate, "Deadline." Sally responded to Gil's kisses when he came to the Frame offices to deliver documents. Cass and Cecile were horrified that Alma has Blaine's diary and has made blackmail demands. Janet casted doubt on her innocence because she sounded somewhat disappointed over the phone for failing to intimidate Stacey. Cass balked at Cecile's pleas to kill Alma. Gil offered George a job as a night watchman. Mac and Larry deduced that Cecile broke into the Cory residence since Rachel recognized the perfume she had on that day. Alma disguised herself with a blonde wig and heavy makeup so she could take a waitress job while keeping tabs on Sandy and Cecile. Abel and Quinn began dating. Henrietta refused to lend money to Prince. Larry ordered a tap on Sandy's phone and had a drawing of Alma circulated around town. Lily told Quinn she's jealous over Thomasina's life changing with Quinn as her guardian. Evan pursued Julia in earnest. Cass tricked Felicia into giving him a $6,000.00 loan to secretly pay Alma's blackmail money. Brian, Donna, and Gil interrupted Peter talking to Sally about making commitments to each other.
APRIL 25-29, 1983
Sandy and Blaine worried about being watched by Alma after Clarice received a strange call at the apartment. Henrietta considered hiring Prince as a salesman once he repaid his loan. Cecile denied ever contacting Alma when Elena received a call asking to speak with her. James was hurt because Stacey chose to meet with Janet rather than accept a date with him. Felicia moved into Cass's penthouse and hinted at possible wedding plans during a press conference. Zack planned to get rid of Stacey, who accused Janet of collusion with Zack and promised to fight a scandal. Cass put on a calm facade as Sandy questioned him about Alma. Donna played nice by inviting Peter and Sally to a dinner party she's hosting. Alma accepted a partial payment towards her blackmail demands but threatened to expose Cass and Cecile's affair if she isn't paid off. Cass urged Julia to write a novel in hopes the sales will alleviate business woes. Mac gave custody of Amanda to Rachel, who agreed to see him socially until she is certain about her love for him. James professed his love to Stacey despite her involvement in Mark's strained marriage and career crisis. Larry proved Alma searched Rachel's studio by finding her fingerprints. Felicia almost learned of Cass's betrayal with Cecile when he hid a scarf that Cecile left behind at his penthouse before she spotted it. Amanda took pictures with the small camera Mac bought for her.
MAY 2-6, 1983
Zack offered Stacey a powerful legal position in Washington while Janet told Mark she'd accept Stacey as his mistress on the condition he return to politics. Cecile was despondent over Rachel's accusations she broke into the Cory residence, has been in contact with Alma, and was reminded that Blaine's diary was stolen. Peter was hopeful that Sally would overcome her reservations and accept his marriage proposal. Larry traced a call Jeanne received from Alma to a public phone booth where she left a boastful note. James argued with Mark and Stacey, who pretended to accept Zack and Janet's offers to help Sandy expose their treachery. Donna wished to bond with Cecile once Brian explained that she became cruel and manipulative because Iris used her. Sandy and Blaine were uninjured in a car wreck that Alma caused by tampering with the brakes on his car. Quinn advised Lily she has a chance to make a new life for herself. Henrietta embarked on a publicity tour for her business. Cass feared Alma will ruin his personal and professional lives and decided to confront her alone. Donna was content that Peter felt compassion towards Cecile because of her traumatic past. Jeanne mentioned waiting tables for many years when Rachel asked about the means in which Alma could make a living. Cecile became hysterical when she witnessed Cass about to strangle Alma in reaction to her defiance and threats.
MAY 9-13, 1983
Stacey agreed to stay with Mark at the cabin after Janet claimed she wouldn't be bothered by their indiscretion. Alma vowed to ruin Cass and Cecile once Cass stopped himself from strangling her. Felicia grew concerned over Cass griping about financial problems and acting distracted. Elena discovered Louis has a terminal illness and told Cecile, who viciously reproached Louis for leaving her broke and called Elena a fool for caring about him. Vivien gossiped with Maisie about the house Mrs. Franklin had found for Sandy and Blaine. Mark and Stacey rekindled their past romance while trapped at the cabin and made love. Lily was thankful to Quinn for bailing her out of jail when she was arrested for prostitution. Alma tricked Mrs. Franklin into getting access to the house she has set to show Sandy and Blaine. Mac and Sandy piqued Mark's interest by suggesting they write an expose on Zack's schemes. Felicia fired Cecile in retaliation to smelling her perfume on Cass. Janet threatened to name Stacey in a divorce suit against Mark unless he returns to politics. James decided to leave town after Stacey revealed she has reconciled with Mark. Alma held a gun in glee once she arranged separate appointments to lure Sandy and Blaine to the house by posing as Mrs. Franklin. Donna guessed correctly that Cecile alluded to snagging Peter because of her enormous debts.
MAY 16-20, 1983
Alma shot Sandy in the chest when he arrived at the house. Stacey encouraged Mark to announce his plans to divorce Janet before Zack and Janet cause a scandal. Gil was spurned by Sally and tried to convince Julia his intentions with her are not on the rebound. Alma assumed she killed Sandy and happily informed Cecile, who gave Elena consent to take Maggie to Paris. Donna cozied up to Sally with hopes of stalling her acceptance of Peter's marriage proposal. Clarice screamed at Jeanne because she complained about Ada's dislike for her instead of having concern for Sandy's life. Cass learned from Felicia that Julia overheard a waitress ask about tampering with brakes while having dinner with Gil. Alma took Cecile's car since hers had been identified by the police. Blaine was surprised when Jeanne kept her company at the hospital as Sandy underwent surgery. Rachel and Blaine identified a disguised Alma in photos taken by Amanda during a trip to Chicago. Cass followed Alma to her hotel room in search of Blaine's diary. Cecile endured Larry's dogged interrogation. Donna was intrigued when Cecile claimed she's no longer in debt. Sally was unable to make love to Peter. Cecile frantically called a taxi headed for Smiley's. A maid discovered Alma dead from stab wounds in her motel room. Cass blew up at a concerned Felicia rather than confess his involvement with Cecile and Alma.
MAY 23-27, 1983
Roy and Quinn left Gil in charge of Frame Construction while on a business trip. Blaine was found hovering over Alma's body when the police arrived at the motel. Donna told Peter that their sister, Nicole's bank accounts are overdrawn despite her being a well-paid model. Cass and Cecile accused each other of killing Alma when Cecile expressed certainty that Blaine's guilt will relieve them of suspicion. Peter agreed to locate Nicole to ease Donna's concerns. Larry was angry that Cecile evaded his questions about Alma while Cass was present. Felicia sensed Cass lied after she demanded to know if he's been helping Cecile deal with Alma. Mark tried to convince Janet to drop the divorce suit but she maintained Stacey must pay for ruining her life. A coroner's report revealed traces of strangle marks on Alma that were most likely left by a man. Brian learned from Donna that Cecile was suddenly without debt last time they spoke and told Larry, who realized the conversation occurred shortly before Alma's death. Cecile secretly burned Blaine's diary. Roy urged Quinn to expand Frame Construction. Henrietta met Abel's twin brother Leo, whom Abel considers a manipulator who deserted his family. Maisie recalled that Cass had asked her about Alma and Cecile's car was parked at the motel. Brian doubted Larry's objectivity and took him off Alma's murder investigation since Blaine is the prime suspect.
MAY 30 - JUNE 3, 1983
Peter was jealous that Gil planned to bring Sally home from a business trip. Cecile became unhinged as Felicia made speculations about her and Cass's involvement with Alma that were nearly accurate. Larry held a household meeting with Clarice, Blaine, and Jeanne to mediate family peace before going to Los Angeles for police training. Lily became a nuisance to Quinn by refusing to stay away from Thomasina and asking Henrietta for a job. Cass swore his innocence when Felicia accused him of harming Alma before she was murdered. Rachel made Quinn a full business partner in Frame-Harding Construction. Janet publicly named Stacey in her divorce suit against Mark. Cass and Cecile argued over the $6,000.00 he skimmed from Felicia to pay off Alma, the same amount police found in her motel room. Mark received an anonymous call from someone urging him not to write political articles for Brava. Donna feigned happiness towards Peter and Sally's engagement while plotting to pay Cecile to sabotage the couple. Brian and Sgt. Bill Gorman told Mac that the money found in Alma's room indicates she was blackmailing someone. Felicia fumed at Cass after she discovered that money was missing from her business account. Sandy joined forces with Stacey to clear Blaine, who admitted under police interrogation that she called Smiley's for directions with the intent to confront Alma.
JUNE 6-10, 1983
Rachel concluded Felicia shared her suspicions of Cass and Cecile's involvement with Alma, though Felicia was tight-lipped on the subject. Mark feared Zack may resort to murder to prevent him from writing articles for Brava on political corruption. Ada and Marie were concerned that Gil is dating Julia on the rebound from Sally. Mac and Rachel realized they are still in love, decided to put their past problems behind them, and start over. Clarice was appalled that Jeanne accused her of having an affair with Larry's best friend, Bill Gorman. Blaine took a driving test, which proved to the police that she couldn't have called Smiley's and arrived there in time to commit the murder. Donna's former step-son, Perry Hutchins, asked Donna for a place to stay before his father, Carl finds out he didn't graduate from college. Cass obtained a loan from Stacey to deposit into Felicia's account so she wouldn't make the connection between the $6,000.00 he took and the money found in Alma's possession. Clarice moved in with Ada after Jeanne deflected blame for causing family discourse and refused to stop criticizing her. Peter begrudgingly agreed to find Perry a job at Cory Publishing. Gil told Rachel about the $6,000.00 after talking to Maisie and Julia. Mac had no intention of accepting an offer to sell Brava made by someone being represented by attorney, Horace Bakewell. Mark tried to pressure Stacey into living with him.
JUNE 13-17, 1983
Cass denied Stacey's accusations he needed $6,000.00 to pay blackmail money and abruptly went on a business trip to London. Mac questioned Horace but failed to learn who secretly offered to buy Brava. Felicia tried to contain her anger once Stacey revealed she gave Cass a loan to replace money he took from their business account. Abel and Henrietta attended Leo's concert with Roy and Quinn to celebrate their successful business trip. Larry learned that Clarice and the children moved in with Ada. Marie asked Gil to buy an autographed copy of Felicia's new novel. Maisie recalled that Cass had asked about Alma and told Bill. Abel was upset by Henrietta's attraction to Leo and his plans to open a night club in Bay City. Donna planned Peter and Sally's engagement party and encouraged Perry to pursue Sally, hoping she'll respond to another man's attentions. Jeanne alleged that Bill and Clarice are having an affair, causing Larry to dismiss Blaine's explanations and angered Clarice by taking Jeanne's side in the conflicts. Rachel and Felicia deduced that Alma had blackmailed Cecile, who forced Cass to help with Alma because of his dependence on Felicia. Bill and Ada confronted Jeanne, who refused to detract her disparaging remarks about Clarice. Marie fretted that Gil is dating Julia while in love with Sally. Perry asked Quinn for a job after Mac turned him down for seasonal work at Cory Publishing.
JUNE 20-24, 1983
Lily resented Quinn and Rita's objections to her seeing Thomasina. Cecile tried unsuccessfully to probe Brian for evidence the police might have on Alma's murder during questioning. Peter showed his sympathetic nature and agreed to help Cecile, who played the victim routine when she visited unexpectedly. Mark was frustrated by the divorce scandal that has caused Stacey to lose clients. Gil was jealous over Julia dating Evan. Cecile accused Felicia and Stacey of plotting against her and promised to fight them. Perry secured a job at Frame-Harding Construction while Donna introduced him to her high society friends. Ada urged Lily to seek honest work so she can quit prostitution. Cecile implicated Cass by revealing that he tried to strangle Alma and was being blackmailed since she knew Cecile and Felicia were his lovers. Mark and Stacey issued a statement to reputable reporter, Jim Lewis to counteract the tabloid articles about them. Clarice refused to move back in with Larry and talk openly with Jeanne about the family's issues. Felicia called Cass to warn him that Maisie and Cecile's statements to the police have made him the prime suspect in Alma's murder. Sandy and Blaine tried to reason with Larry about Jeanne and Clarice or risk ruining his marriage. Donna finished plans for Peter and Sally's engagement party. Cass eluded the police waiting for him at the airport to quietly return to town.
JUNE 27 - JULY 1, 1983
Cass realized that Cecile had willingly incriminated him in Alma's murder to save herself. Sandy and Blaine made wedding plans and went house hunting. Donna convinced Peter to console and be a confidant to Cecile, who charmed Peter into bringing her home. Jeanne unexpectedly returned to Claxton instead of having dinner with Mac, Sandy, and Blaine since Larry had to work. Abel went to Chicago in hopes of persuading Leo to cancel his relocation plans. Sally was surprised to learn that Peter had abruptly ended their date to comfort Cecile. Cass admitted to police that he tried to strangle Alma, revealed Cecile's connection to her, but maintained his innocence. Larry was stunned by Jeanne's sudden departure and ignored Ada's advice to accept Clarice's side in the family's problems. Mark encouraged Stacey not to feel shame because of the tabloid articles. Gil tried in vain to emotionally support Felicia, who threw Cass out of her penthouse and vowed to dissolve their partnership and ruin his business. Maisie cheered up Larry when he came to Smiley's after having a fight with Clarice. Sally was furious when Peter arrived at the engagement party with Cecile. Felicia made a new publishing deal with Mac. The police obtained search warrants of Cecile's home after questioning Cass. Cecile struggled to keep her composure when Larry discovered a piece of charred paper from Blaine's diary in the fireplace.
JULY 4-8, 1983
Cass established an alibi with proof of a cash withdrawal he made outside of town during the murder. Julia assured Sally that Peter appeared obligated to escort Cecile to the engagement party. Abel lacked Henrietta and Lily's enthusiasm over Leo buying a warehouse to convert into a night club. Bill received confirmation that a sample of Blaine's handwriting and that of the charred piece of paper from the diary matched. Peter apologized to Sally for his innocent behavior while he's been acting as Cecile's confidant. Roy declined Leo's construction project offer. Julia was humbled as Gil spoke of appreciating the simple things in life rather than being impressed by money and glamour. Nicole arrived at Peter's apartment, took an immediate liking to Sally, but warned her not to trust Donna. Leo flirted with Quinn as they got to know each other. Cecile was arrested for Alma's murder once a cab driver confirmed he had brought her to Alma's motel. Peter urged Nicole to live at the Love estate after Donna agreed not to hassle her. Ella Fitz informed Larry that Jeanne has fallen ill. Brian convinced Mark to represent Cecile as her defense attorney, much to Cass and Stacey's chagrin. Mac and Rachel planned a double wedding ceremony with Sandy and Blaine. Cecile begged Mark to have Rachel visit her in jail. Cass hoped to publish Julia's novel under a pseudonym so Felicia won't know Julia will be her competition.
JULY 11-15, 1983
Donna chose not to help Cecile to avoid the family name being tied to a scandal. Mac stalled accepting Horace's offer to buy Brava, but worried crooks involved with Horace would retaliate. Rachel believed in Cecile's innocence and posted bail after recalling her own past murder trial. Quinn refused to live with Abel and told him she doesn't just want a fling. Roy was hurt that Henrietta isn't ready for marriage and wants thrills in her life. Cecile confessed she stole Blaine's diary but swore that Alma was already dead when she found her. Larry threatened to file for divorce while arguing with Clarice, who innocently suggested Jeanne find her own place. Mark had Cecile re-enact the night she discovered Alma's body, which caused her to have nightmares and hallucinations. Nicole wept over Peter and Sally's happiness and felt she had ruined her life by being a career woman. Julia fretted that Cass can't publish her novel since Felicia claimed Cass's business is ruined to the press. Mark gave Sandy an expose on corrupt politics. Donna ordered Perry to stay away from Nicole, who saw through Perry's conceit and intentions. Blaine had Jeanne admitted to the hospital after finding her in extreme pain. Mark was undeterred about representing Cecile, despite Cass's warnings he'll lose the case and Stacey in the process. Larry was devastated that Jeanne was diagnosed with the fatal disease bacteremia from an infected cut on her back.
JULY 18-22, 1983
Cass arranged for Julia and editor, Bert Keller to fine tune her novel. Mark begged Rachel to help him with Cecile, who got drunk after being ridiculed by Cass. Quinn welcomed Lily's friendship when she and their friends threw a party to celebrate Thomasina's adoption being finalized. Horace denied any involvement in the threatening phone calls Mark received about writing political exposes for Brava. Peter and Donna were disturbed by Nicole's drastic mood swings and haggard appearance in a modeling photograph. Stacey gave Cass a loan on the condition he act less vindictive towards Mark. Larry grew suspicious over Jeanne's vague statements she cut her back on a hook when Ada and Clarice said that Jeanne had complained about back pain before leaving town. Cecile lamented to Mark that she'll be convicted since she saw Alma gravely wounded and overheard her mutter something unintelligible before dying. Nicole became defensive and rude because Perry accused her of being high, but met Brian with a warm reception. Larry went to Claxton after he found one of Jeanne's blouses with a slash across its back. Sandy didn't feel pity towards a distraught Cecile, who took tranquilizers to ease her paranoia. Donna berated Perry over being expelled from college due to pulling pranks but let him stay once Carl terminated his allowance. Roy, Abel, and Henrietta agreed to attend closing night at Leo's club in Chicago.
JULY 25-29, 1983
Blaine was perplexed by strange comments Jeanne made while delirious. Gil and Liz admonished an exhausted Julia for keeping a demanding schedule to fulfill Cass and Bert's efforts in making her a successful author. Cecile made a mental note to exact revenge on Donna, who wanted to renew their friendship once she's cleared of murder. Perry told Nicole he's certain that she's using cocaine and made sexual advances as he hinted at keeping her secret. Stacey held Cass accountable for his problems. Jeanne described to Larry how she ordered Alma to leave Sandy and Blaine alone, was wounded by her while calling for help, and Alma was accidentally stabbed in the chest during a struggle with a knife. Peter decided to confront Nicole after Sally expressed concerns that she may be addicted to cocaine. Bert was upset over Julia's lack of progress in revising her novel. Cass mocked Mark's belief in Cecile's innocence. Felicia consulted with Peter on withdrawing her novel from Winthrop Publishing without breaching her contract. Sandy informed Mark he suspects someone broke into the Cory complex and searched Mark's cabin to find the notes on his articles. Cecile pawned jewelry and bought a plane ticket to Athens when Brian offered to pay her bills and not get her a lump sum of cash. Sandy comforted Blaine about Jeanne while Mark and Larry tried to locate Cecile to inform her of Jeanne's admission.
AUGUST 1-5, 1983
Peter coerced Nicole into admitting she's in debt to drug dealers, but insisted she isn't an addict. Cecile's shock over hearing about Jeanne's confession on the radio caused her to get into a car accident. Felicia went on the warpath after Cass taunted her about Julia being more talented and energetic than she is. Brian and Sandy fended off reporters for Larry, who was grief-stricken as he visited an ailing Jeanne in the hospital. Rachel was thrilled and Stacey surprised by Jamie's arrival in a motor home. Mac and Rachel and Sandy and Blaine exchanged vows in a double ceremony. Felicia angrily confronted Julia about writing a romance novel for Cass. Jamie and Stacey's pact to be friends was bittersweet. Mark was stalked by two hit men and almost blown to smithereens because his cabin had been booby-trapped. Rachel ended her truce with Cecile upon learning that she had meant to leave town with the bail money Rachel had provided. Larry and Clarice reconciled as she consoled him over Jeanne. Horace agreed to help find the culprits behind the attacks on Mark, who suspected Zack had arranged them. Donna agreed to pay Nicole's debts because Peter insisted that Nicole wants to get clean. Horace had his secretary, Miss Steiner duplicate a letter addressed to Mark regarding the attempts on his life. Donna bribed Cecile with $100,000 to break up Peter and Sally. Perry began to dislike working with Gil at Frame-Harding Construction.
AUGUST 8-12, 1983
Nicole grew suspicious over Donna and Cecile's friendship. Miss Steiner recalled that Horace made several secretive phone calls on the day he was killed. Cass pressured Julia to complete her novel because he's counting on its success to save his business. Jeanne died after she revealed to Larry that he and Blaine have a younger half-brother named Catlin. Mark and Stacey were stunned when Miss Steiner said that Horace died of a heart attack despite never having heart issues. Felicia and Julia made amends. Jamie pursued Nicole, who gave herself an alias while avoiding his romantic overtures. Felicia took a waitress job at Smiley's Diner as research for a rags-to-riches storyline and use the experience for publicity. Mark found Horace's letter, which revealed he knew who had ordered the attempts on Mark's life. Quinn rejected Abel's kisses and suggested they stop dating because he won't make a commitment. Peter and Sally set an October wedding date. Mark unknowingly escaped two hit men disguised as reporters. Donna slapped Nicole during an argument over her ruined life. Jamie and Stacey agreed to share an apartment and pose as a couple to ensure her safety. Cass was angry that Felicia failed to mention her novel that he had published to the press. Donna doubled Barrows' retainer to investigate Sally's past and uncover any scandal.
AUGUST 15-19, 1983
Barrows informed Donna that Sally had an illegitimate child. Miss Steiner gave phone numbers that Horace called to Larry and Mark, who recognized Zack on the list. Stacey tried to convince Cass that her relationship with Jamie is strictly platonic. Nicole remained in denial about her addiction to cocaine as she tried to conceal her condition. Zack revealed his knowledge of Mark being slated for death and insisted he wasn't involved in Horace's murder. Donna questioned Dr. Royal Dunning, who confessed he had delivered Sally's child and that she had given it up for adoption. Jamie was frustrated by Nicole resisting his offers of friendship and counseling to overcome her cocaine addiction. Leo hired Lily to work at his new club, The Warehouse. Nicole considered returning to modeling when her agent and drug pusher, Whit, mentioned getting her a lucrative contract. Larry suspected that a woman named Miss Rose had posed as a secretary and murdered Horace. Quinn was touched by Leo's gestures to hold a fundraiser for Abel's clinic. Miss Rose stalked Mark with a gun outside of Mac's office but eluded being spotted by Larry. Perry resented Gil's bossy attitude towards him at work. Cass couldn't get Cecile to admit that she still wants to be with him. Quinn accused Abel of being petty for scoffing at Leo's plans for his clinic and calling Leo a con artist and a liar.
AUGUST 22-26, 1983
Felicia leaked news of her research job as a waitress to the press, which became a multi-media event. Liz gave Larry a description of Miss Rose. Sandy and Blaine returned from Paris with Maggie. Gil threw a tantrum over Julia being too busy finishing her novel to spend time with him. Donna and Cecile planned a dinner party in hopes that Cecile would win over Peter after she's snubbed by all her enemies. Larry told Blaine that Jeanne died and they shouldn't regret being unable to reconcile with her. Cass bristled as Felicia basked in the limelight and boasted about writing best sellers for Cory Publishing. Miss Rose arrived at Stacey's home where she struggled with Jamie over a gun meant to kill Mark and evaded capture by the police. Gil complained to Quinn about feeling neglected by Julia. Nicole tried to mask her disappointment as Sally and Maisie gushed about Jamie and Stacey being together. Mark boarded a freighter to escape the assassins and complete his articles. Donna's scheme to give Cecile an opportunity to seduce Peter backfired when everyone was nice to Cecile. Stacey's feelings for Jamie resurfaced while they acted as a couple to ensure Mark's safety and keep Stacey from becoming a target. Jamie brusquely rejected Nicole's sexual advances because she was stoned. Larry informed Blaine that they have a younger half-brother.
AUGUST 29 - SEPTEMBER 2, 1983
Vivien mistakenly tipped Miss Rose's boss, powerful and rich businessman Jeremiah Denby, that Mark had left town on a freighter. Jamie urged Nicole to trust people, accept her addiction, and realize she's destroying her life. Donna figured Peter would be noble and marry Sally despite having a child and informed Cecile they must find more to ruin Sally. Sandy travelled to Washington to gather information on Zack and the people threatening Mark's life. Nicole became forlorn over Stacey living with Jamie, not knowing the arrangement is a ruse. Cass's temper flared as Cecile spurned his advances and bragged that she can snare Peter from Sally. Felicia admitted she regrets losing Gil. Thomasina accused Abel of making Quinn unhappy by hassling and stringing her along. Zack and Jeremiah were skeptical of Sandy's claim of covering a story on embassy families while they attended a poker game hosted by socialite, Bess Killworth. Gil grew more frustrated as Julia struggled to make time for him and work on her novel. Sally became edgy upon learning that Donna has had meetings with Dr. Royal Dunning. Abel and Quinn reconciled. Felicia hired a peculiar woman named Miss Devon as her secretary. Leo was gracious when Quinn advised she can only offer him friendship. Royal promised Sally he won't give Donna details about her past or their association.
SEPTEMBER 5-9, 1983
Jamie was guilt-ridden over misleading Nicole about being romantically involved with Stacey. Nicole considered whether to stay in Bay City or return to the pressures and lifestyle in New York that had introduced her to drugs. Sandy sensed he is being followed and his hotel room is bugged. Cecile realized she still has feelings for Cass. Jamie balked at Felicia's request for help in researching drugs for her next novel fearing she will sensationalize drug addiction. Abel rejected Leo's idea of holding a benefit concert for his clinic. Sally couldn't sway a sympathetic Royal into revealing her child's whereabouts since Royal advised another person's life will be at risk. Larry went to Washington and posed as a photographer for Brava to aide Sandy in his investigation. Mac gave Nicole an offer to be the model for Felicia's new diet book. Jeremiah and Zack had Sandy tailed in hopes of learning Sandy's true purpose for being in Washington. Cass pressured Julia into working long hours to complete her novel and going with him on a promotional tour in New York, much to Liz and Gil's chagrin. Jeremiah ordered his contact on the freighter Mark is traveling on to steal Mark's latest article for Brava. Donna befriended Beverly Tucker, who knows Royal and comes from the town where Sally had her child. Larry left the poker game to snoop around Bess' basement for listening devices.
SEPTEMBER 12-16, 1983
Royal and Beverly advised their longtime friend, David Thatcher, that Donna has been questioning them about Sally. Sandy remained suspicious of Jeremiah and Zack, who requested he arrange a party for Bess. Rachel consoled Sally, who had nightmares about putting her child up for adoption. Stacey hurt Mark by being unenthusiastic over his return and admission she's confused about her feelings. Cass figured out that Cecile is pursuing Peter. Donna feigned being insulted when Sally asked if she's trying to break up her engagement to Peter. Larry and Sandy learned that Jeremiah had arranged Horace's murder and Mark's cabin to be booby-trapped. Quinn tried to convince Roy that Leo and Henrietta are only friends after he saw them share an innocent kiss. Sally tried to conceal her anxiety about her past from Peter by passing it off as premarital jitters. David said that his wife, Jennifer, would be dead if not for their child and begged Royal to keep the adoption confidential. Roy bade Quinn and Gil farewell and went to Europe, determined to get over Henrietta. Felicia warned Cass to conduct himself professionally around Julia. Mac reluctantly hired Cecile to do freelance work for Sally. Zack was panic-stricken as he persuaded Sandy to secretly meet with him, promising to provide information Sandy will consider valuable.
SEPTEMBER 19-23, 1983
Rachel was exasperated when Henrietta stubbornly refused to contact Roy in Sweden. Jamie assumed Janet was keeping tabs on Mark after she called Stacey to find out Mark's whereabouts. Donna scrambled for an explanation as Peter grilled her on upsetting Sally and interfering in their wedding plans. Blaine went to Washington to tell Sandy that she's pregnant despite Mac's misgivings. Whit persuaded Nicole to be the model for Felicia's diet book. Sandy was puzzled by Janet's nervous reaction to the name Jeremiah Denby, though she claimed to have never met him. Julia gave Felicia a copy of her successful romance novel. Mac went on a trip to Japan. Brian's son, Ted Bancroft, was released from the mental institution and was hired as the photographer of the diet book. Royal assured David that Jennifer will never know that Kevin isn't her biological son. Janet traced Mark through the police and promised to drop Stacey as co-respondent in the divorce suit on the condition they discuss a possible reconciliation. Sandy discovered that Zack had been murdered at a park where they had arranged a meeting. Liz disapproved of the pressure Cass has placed onto Julia while managing her writing career. Donna tersely suggested Peter reconsider marrying Sally if she is keeping any secrets from him.
SEPTEMBER 26-30, 1983
Royal pleaded with Sally not to tell Peter about her baby due to anguish it might cause the adoptive parents. Stacey confessed her love for Jamie to Rachel. Roy returned and resolved to convince Henrietta to consider marriage. Cecile complained to Peter that she's being menaced by Cass, who cautioned him about Cecile's manipulative nature. Jeremiah paid Miss Rose for assassinating Zack. Janet was asking Mark for a second chance when a hitman attempted to kill him. Barrows broke into Royal's office and photographed Sally's file to avoid detection. Sandy and Larry told Bess about Zack's murder and urged her to protect herself. Rachel relished in telling Cecile that Sandy and Blaine are expecting their first child. Cass warned Cecile that he isn't fooled by her persecuted act like Peter is. Donna read the file which indicated Sally's baby was adopted illegally and felt triumphant that Peter will break the engagement. Jeremiah lost patience with Janet and ordered her back to Washington after Janet accused him of ruining their plans by the attempts on Mark's life. Sandy disbelieved the official autopsy on Zack listing a heart attack as the cause of his death. Julia was frustrated that Cass hasn't paid her any royalties on her novel. Ted approved of Brian and Donna's relationship.
OCTOBER 3-7, 1983
Julia went into a rage against Cass due to his dictatorial approach to her writing. Mark explained to Janet that he doesn't love Stacey in hopes of extracting information about the murder attempts. Sally was unnerved as Donna revealed her knowledge of her illegitimate child and illegal adoption. Perry, who has stopped hassling Nicole, pressed for her to overcome drug addiction and fight for Jamie. Donna lulled Sally into a false sense of security as she mused about the child's whereabouts and happiness. Gil cautioned Cass to quit trying to control Julia's life, but Cass maintained that Gil is interfering in her career. Nicole resisted when Jamie offered his counsel because she hates seeing Jamie and Stacey together and won't admit her feelings for him. Donna urged Cecile to console Peter once Sally is exposed and eased Cecile's doubts that they will succeed in breaking the engagement. Gil advised an enraged Julia that Cass is in negotiations with another romance novelist so she will concede to his demands. Janet tried to persuade Jeremiah not to kill Mark, confident that they will have Mark under their thumb soon. Donna introduced Sally to Jennifer and Kevin Thatcher, then revealed that Kevin is her son who was adopted by Jennifer and her husband, David. Peter was humored by Cecile's flirtatious antics but was immune to her sexual advances.
OCTOBER 10-14, 1983
Peter noticed Sally's agitated state and graciously agreed to postpone their wedding, but was grim once Nicole warned him not to take her excuses at face value or discount Donna's involvement. Cass threatened to file a lawsuit against Felicia, who decided against dissolving their business partnership. Sally struggled to absorb meeting her biological son and anxiety towards telling Peter the truth about her past. Perry resigned from Frame-Harding Construction and took a job cooking at Smiley's Diner after having a quarrel with Gil. Jamie and Stacey enjoyed a passionate night together after she gave Mark the cold shoulder. David was relieved that the truth about Kevin's adoption wasn't revealed to Jennifer when she initially met Sally. Cecile traveled to France to visit Elena and reconcile with her terminally ill father, Louis. Stacey realized she can never resume her relationship with Mark after she and Jamie declared their love for each other. Royal couldn't appeal to Donna's sense of fairness when he angrily demanded that she stop harassing Sally. Janet lied to Mark that she doesn't know any of Zack's associates who may have been responsible for his death. Felicia stole Julia's thunder at a promotional press conference and took credit for her success.
OCTOBER 17-21, 1983
Cass seethed as Felicia relished her position in making editorial decisions and took a firmer hand with Julia's career. Mac agreed to help Mark revive his political career to trick Janet into revealing who wants him dead. Royal assured Jennifer that David is not having an affair. Nicole felt motivated by Jamie to conquer her cocaine addiction, but fretted Jamie's affection is out of friendship and not love. Donna took advantage of Sally's hesitance to go with Peter on a business trip to London by convincing him to visit Elena. Gil called Julia a snob when she was against going to Smiley's with him. Blaine persuaded Larry to continue searching for their half-brother, Catlin. Jeremiah threatened to kill Mark if Janet doesn't succeed in getting him to stop investigating Zack's death. David tried to maintain self-control as Jennifer wished to stay in Bay City and remarked on Sally's rapport with Kevin. Liz fretted over Julia, who struggled with her newfound success and notoriety. Elena and Cecile kept a vigil over Louis. Peter agreed not to pressure Sally, who asserted that space will be healthy for their relationship. Clarice was depressed over her and Larry being deep in debt. Barrows planned to break into Royal's office. Thomasina was relieved that Lily has put her hooker days behind her.
OCTOBER 24-28, 1983
Rachel informed Donna she'll retaliate if she doesn't quit upsetting Sally, who was unnerved by Donna seeking constant reassurance she'll keep Kevin a secret. Felicia panned the chapters of Julia's second novel, which caused Julia to be wounded by the criticism. Mark tried to earn Janet's confidence after he noticed Jeremiah's name on a guest list for one of her parties. Cass was embarrassed to admit that Felicia was right about the poor quality of Julia's new chapters. Nicole wallowed in self-pity over her unrequited love for Jamie and bought coke from Ted. David was forced to mask his anxiety towards Donna's dinner invitation that Jennifer gladly accepted. Lily was irate over being arrested for trumped up charges of prostitution. Mark tried to uncover Janet's motivations while she made cryptic warnings about Jeremiah, who secretly slipped into town. Donna reminded Cecile that their arrangement of breaking up Peter and Sally is strictly business. Larry and Sandy received incrimination tapes that captured conversations between Horace and Jeremiah. Cecile became hysterical by the sound of clanging prison doors, which prevented her from reconciling with Louis before he died. Mark was speechless once Janet overheard him tell Stacey that his charade of still loving her is nearly over. Nicole suffered an overdose on cocaine.
OCTOBER 31 - NOVEMBER 4, 1983
Perry was unconvinced when Nicole refused to implicate Ted in causing her drug overdose. Donna hinted to David that he should worry about Sally revealing Kevin's adoption. Jamie urged Stacey to be optimistic about the future as she tormented herself over Mark and Janet's estrangement and Mark's life being endangered. Lily chose to hold a grudge against the police rather than heed Quinn's advice to put the incident behind her. Felicia admonished Nicole and delivered a stern warning that she stay clean or get fired. Jeremiah attempted to escape police capture by taking Mark and Janet hostage. Sally courageously informed Donna that she plans to tell Peter about the baby she gave up for adoption. Cecile bade Elena farewell and returned from Paris. Larry and Sandy followed Jeremiah where he was shot and killed in a boiler room. Peter arrived home from his business trip in Europe. Stacey reproached herself over loving Jamie and kept vigil over Mark, who was critically wounded from a gunshot. David and Sally came face to face at Donna's dinner party. Ted panicked over Perry inquiring about the drug scene and his request to score cocaine for him. Janet became mentally unglued after being put in jail. David made feeble excuses to Sally once she realized that Jennifer doesn't know about her stillborn baby or that Kevin is her adopted son.
NOVEMBER 7-11, 1983
Maisie developed a crush on Larry. Sandy and Blaine went to Wyoming in search of Catlin. Ted sensed Nicole's moodiness at his photo session and offered cocaine, which caused Jamie to beat up Ted when he overheard the conversation. Cecile reminded Donna that she can expose her schemes against Sally and wreck her relationship with Peter unless she is paid off. Lily argued her own defense against the new D.A., Adam Banks, who accused Lily of propositioning him as a prostitute. Mark expressed his gratitute to Jamie for keeping Stacey safe, which stopped Jamie from confessing that he and Stacey are in love. Peter grew impatient towards Sally, who was evasive about the reasons she isn't ready to set a new wedding date. David swore to Sally that he and Royal switched Kevin for Jennifer's stillborn baby because they thought Jennifer would have died knowing the truth. Stacey told a delighted Mark that she is carrying his child. Sandy and Blaine found the name A.C. Moore in one of Jeanne's letters and the recollection that Jeanne had been in touch with Catlin until a year ago. David warned Sally that Donna will reveal without hesitation that Kevin is their natural son if Sally proceeds with marrying Peter. Jamie remained tight-lipped over attacking Ted so Nicole's drug problem wouldn't be publicized.
NOVEMBER 14-18, 1983
Mark pressured Stacey to get married in the hospital. Stacey wasn't swayed by Jamie's objections to marrying Mark, swearing he wouldn't deny Mark rights as the baby's father. Peter blew up at Sally when she couldn't confide in him about her troubles. Adam publicly retracted his smear campaign against Lily. Felicia and Jamie protested Mac's order to rehire Ted to photograph Felicia's exercise book. Abel was angered by Leo flirting with Quinn. David convinced Sally to threaten Donna with exposing her schemes to Peter to stop Donna's interference. Sandy and Blaine learned that Catlin had lived with A.C. Moore until four years ago, but failed to find any more leads. Felicia and Jamie resolved to keep mum about Ted's cocaine deal so Nicole's reputation wouldn't be tarnished. Royal chastised David for jeopardizing their efforts against Donna because of his personal feelings for Sally. Quinn found herself attracted to Adam. Peter joyfully embraced Sally, who promised to make definitive wedding plans soon. Stacey prevented Jamie from slipping an engagement ring on her finger and proposing marriage because of Mark. Donna countered Sally's ultimatum by vowing to tell Jennifer that her stillborn baby was switched with Kevin. David found a note from Jennifer and realized that she knows the truth and fled town with Kevin after overhearing him and Sally discussing their past.
NOVEMBER 21-25, 1983
Blaine thought that Catlin had returned to Wyoming after Ella Fitz said that someone has been asking questions about Jeanne. Julia timidly admitted to an understanding and sympathetic Felicia that she can't complete a second novel. Cass conceded to Julia's decision, but scrambled to seek a new author to keep Winthrop Publishing afloat. David and Sally feared for Kevin's safety after Jennifer called and threatened to keep David from ever seeing Kevin again if they continue their search. Larry and Jamie were thwarted in their attempts to tell Mark that Stacey loves Jamie. Sally got Cecile a job working for Cory Publishing. Gil was angry over Marie taking a waitress job at Smiley's. Donna forced Royal to arouse Peter's suspicions about Sally's preoccupation over Jennifer and Kevin's disappearance. Abel spent Thanksgiving with Quinn, Lily, and Thomasina. Mark caught Jamie off-guard by asking him to be his best man when he marries Stacey. Jennifer and Kevin stayed with her friends Lester and Lucy Ford, who noticed Jennifer's distraught behavior and considered calling David. Blaine informed Larry and Sandy to mind their own business despite objecting to Mark and Stacey's wedding plans. Royal implied to Peter that Jennifer and Sally are simply friends. Peter exploded at Sally, who finally revealed that she and David once had an affair.
NOVEMBER 28 - DECEMBER 2, 1983
Felicia implored a stoned Nicole to get professional help. Peter struggled to accept Sally's confession that Kevin is her and David's son. Jamie convinced a reluctant Stacey to reconsider her decision to hastily marry Mark. Ted ridiculed Felicia during a confrontation over him selling cocaine to Nicole. Mark discovered he has to undergo surgery and arranged an impromptu marriage ceremony when Stacey arrived at the hospital. Sally stormed out when Peter accused her of keeping secrets and wouldn't listen to her explanations. Donna was relieved that Nicole lied to Felicia about considering rehabilitation, fearing her drug addiction would tarnish the family name. Jennifer died in an auto accident while driving on a snow-packed road to buy liquor and calm her nerves. Jamie vowed to find proof that Ted is supplying Nicole with coke before going to the police. David and Sally were horrified to learn of Jennifer's death and found Kevin after a frantic search. Clarice fretted over Larry's reckless spending habits. Kevin was despondent over Jennifer and blamed David, then clinged to Sally for comfort instead. Peter came to settle matters with Sally, but left in a jealous rage when he found Sally with David and Kevin. Cecile whisked Cass out of her bedroom to offer Peter a shoulder to cry on and sympathy.
DECEMBER 5-9, 1983
Mark married Stacey for the sake of their unborn child. Felicia told Jamie that Nicole loves him and is devastated because Jamie is in love with Stacey. Donna insinuated to Peter that Sally is incapable of having an honest relationship and still harbors feelings for David. Mark's surgery was successful. Julia resumed her efforts in writing a second novel. Jamie and Nicole made love after having a dinner date. Cecile called Donna's bluff when she vowed that Peter will never marry her. Julia eavesdropped as Liz confronted David, who said he's not responsible for Sally's sorrow and gave details on Kevin's paternity. Nicole accused Jamie of using her after overhearing Stacey and Jamie argue about her marriage to Mark. Cecile rejected Peter's sexual advances and insisted that he's not over Sally. Liz was distressed over David's intentions to remain in Bay City. Sally was shattered when Peter broke their engagement because of lying about her past and finding Cecile at Peter's apartment. Ted slipped cocaine into Nicole's purse after Nicole swore she doesn't need the drug. Felicia feared Nicole will become dependent on Jamie while Donna disapproved because Jamie is Rachel's son. Jamie angrily accused Nicole of buying a bag of cocaine that they caught Amanda playing with. Cass recruited Cecile in getting inside information about Cory Publishing investments.
DECEMBER 12-16, 1983
Jamie and Nicole deduced that Ted planted the cocaine in retaliation to losing Nicole as a buyer. Stacey tried to muster enthusiasm over Mark's honeymoon plans for them while keeping quiet about her love for Jamie. Sally realized there was no longer hope for her and Peter to reconcile when Cecile lied that she had to drive Peter home because he got drunk. David joined Cass in carrying out plots to sell short-term stock investments in companies Mac plans to purchase. Quinn seethed with anger and confusion upon learning from Adam and Lily that Abel lied that he and Quinn are engaged. Cecile calmed Liz's suspicions after being caught searching her desk for business documents. Ted put bags of cocaine in Jamie's coat and got Jamie arrested for drug possession by calling the police. David decided to move to Bay City and told Sally, who feared bonding with Kevin at the risk of losing him again. Cecile secretly recorded Donna incriminating herself when she outlined breaking up Peter and Sally and gave Cecile a check, which Cecile tore up while proclaiming she isn't interested in Peter or the Love fortune. Mark was angry over Stacey rushing to the police station upon learning that Jamie was arrested.
DECEMBER 19-23, 1983
Jamie put aside his resentment towards Stacey and hired her as his legal counsel. Felicia threw a party in honor of her secret beau from France, who was revealed as Donna's ex-husband and Perry's father, Carl Hutchins. Stacey defended herself as a career woman when Mark lambasted her for keeping him in the dark about her activities. Blaine's hopes were dashed after she received a letter from Catlin, which advised that he will seek her and Larry out once he is ready. Felicia teamed up with Perry and Sandy to expose Ted as a drug dealer. Nicole warned Stacey to stay out Jamie's life and boasted that she and Jamie have become lovers. Sally became upset over David's plans to buy a house near her. Perry successfully bought cocaine from Ted at The Warehouse and gave it to Felicia, who hid it in a sugar cannister. Carl was undaunted by Donna's demands to leave town and threatened to reveal their past marital problems should she harass Felicia. Sally was apprehensive over bonding with Kevin since David insists on remaining in town. Felicia prevented her party guests from eating holiday treats that Mrs. Devon had baked using the cocaine that she mistook as sugar. Abel tried to smooth things over when Quinn angrily confronted him about their supposed engagement. Carl tried unsuccessfully to assure Perry that his feelings for Felicia are genuine.
DECEMBER 26-30, 1983
Sally invited David and Kevin to a Christmas festival. Donna asked Carl to give Perry his support and approval, prompting Carl to accuse Donna of never caring about their marriage or giving him the chance to be a good husband. Perry quelled Ted's suspicions over his request to buy another stash of cocaine. Nicole received a call from her younger sister, Marley who lives in London. Cass kept mum to David that Cecile is their pipeline to Mac's business deals. Peter tried to be kind when Sally gifted him an engraved pocketwatch. Mac suspected that Carl has other reasons for coming to town besides being with Felicia. Peter pined for Cecile, who is in Paris with Elena. Felicia ordered Donna to steer clear of Carl. Jamie's schemes against Ted failed when an exhausted and fatigued Perry fell asleep before the cocaine could be planted in Ted's camera bag. Sally softened towards David after attending a posh hotel party with him. Henrietta received a lucrative offer to purchase her pie business. Donna smoothed things over with Brian after he learned that she caused Peter and Sally to break up. Abel and Quinn reconciled. Peter realized that he had lost Sally for good. Rachel was upset when Mac argued with Jamie, who refused to explain his reasons for hating Ted. Mark and Stacey went to the Virgin Islands on their honeymoon. Brian grew concerned over Ted's strange behavior.
1984
SYNOPSES: 1984
Daily Synopses: September - December
JANUARY 2-6, 1984
Peter took over Jamie's drug case when Stacey's honeymoon was extended. Sally freaked out to realize that Julia's new book will be based on Sally, David, and Kevin's lives. Sally and David fretted over Kevin, who injured his head in a fall from a sled. Peter warned Nicole to butt out of his life when she disapproved of him seeing Cecile. Peter was suspicious of why Donna had split with Carl. Rachel berated Stacey for neglecting Jamie's drug case. Cass refused to tell Cecile the identity of his "business" partner. Donna was curious about Carl's real reason for coming to Bay City. Henrietta accepted Roy's marriage proposal. Julia moved in with Gil. Roy learned that the newly built hotel that he designed belongs to Carl.

Sally left her hospital to be at Catlin's trial, and nearly fainted when the D.A. called for Catlin to receive the death penalty. Cecile and Felicia collaborated to write a book about Catlin's life. Catlin refused to let Sally testify on his behalf in order to keep Kevin's parentage a secret. Lily was upset that her TV advice counselling is backfiring on her viewers. Cecile paid seedy informant Wallingford for info that proved David and Royal knew each other. Sally insisted that Felicia not mention Kevin in her book about Catlin. Cecile made love with Cass, but kept mum that she loves him just as much as she loves Peter. Alice romped in the sack with Mark. Felicia learned that a mystery man operating in a sleazy bar used to recruit unwed teens whose babies Royal later sold. Cass found the claim ticket which Cecile dropped when she got into the boat. Nancy, Thomasina, Julia, Perry, Marley, Ben, and Carter planned a trip to New York City. Ross kept close tabs on Cass, Peter, and Felicia, who searched for the missing Cecile. Felicia and Cass learned that the claim ticket is from a race track locker. Nancy insisted that she didn't tip the police that Catlin had been at the Cory mansion. Donna hid Catlin in a secret room in her wine cellar. Catlin was puzzled that the room seemed to belong to a teenager. Dr. Harris hypnotized Sally, then told her to buy a gun. Sally's screams alerted Catlin that the police had tracked him to an arranged meeting with Sally. Marley refused to return to the European school she'd attended. Marley identified Rachel's sketch of Ross as the man who had mugged Marley and Julia. Larry learned that Donna had made many phone calls to David before he died. DECEMBER 3-7, 1984
Larry and M.J. investigated a racehorse-syndication swindle. Sandy realized that Carl is in on the swindle and tipped the cops that a "ringer" racehorse was running in a local race. Victoria hired handsome hunk, Ray Phillips, to romance Marley. Edward and Zane rescued Felicia from an attacker. Nancy followed Chris to Arizona in search of the Egyptian treasure. To help Nancy, Marley later brought the Pharoah's Daughter's staff to Arizona. Disguised as an American Indian, Carl looked for the treasure. While Marley was out of town, Victoria tried to cozy up to Jake.
NOVEMBER 11-15, 1985
Carl knocked Kathleen unconscious when he caught her and Cass holding the Pharoah's Daughter statue. Kathleen, whose legs are paralyzed, was hospitalized in a coma. Brittany finally admitted to Catlin that their son had drowned. Carl captured Marley while Jake rushed to her rescue after Victoria sensed that Marley was in danger. Cass was arrested for murdering Daphne. Brittany and Catlin shared a sympathy romp in the sack. Nancy ministered to Chris, who was bitten by a scorpion. Clarice handled the poison gas-filled artifact that killed Mac's maid. Felicia realized that the Pharoah's Daughter is a real Egyptian artifact made of pure gold. An ailing Hawk was unable to help Chris search for the Egyptian treasure. Brittany held Peter's romantic advances at bay. Felicia still has feelings for Edward.
NOVEMBER 18-22, 1985
Sally was livid to catch Catlin rolling in the hay with Brittany. Nancy and Chris shared a night of love in the Star God cave, where they suspect the Egyptian treasure is hidden. Jake came to Marley's rescue just as Carl was about to torture her. Marley fired shots at Carl, who fell off a cliff. Mac tried to find proof that Cass didn't kill Daphne. Cass fretted that a paralyzed Kathleen might die. Felicia can't decide whether she wants to go to Hollywood with Edward or stick with the adventurous and exciting Zane. Daniel came on to Sally, reminding her of Catlin and Brittany's past love and marriage. Chris survived the scorpion bite.
NOVEMBER 25-29, 1985
Carl caught Nancy and Chris in the Star God cave with the Egyptian treasure. Chris and Carl fought to the death near a lakeshore. Sally kicked Catlin out on his ear because of his affair with Brittany. Daniel tried to get closer to Sally as they posed for more Le Soleil photos. Believing that Cass feels only pity for her because she's paralyzed, Kathleen refused to marry Cass until she's able to walk again. Rachel feared that Carl is a threat to Mac's life. Donna faked a heart attack, forcing Marley and Jake to abandon their plans to get married while they were in Arizona. Cass can't prove that he didn't kill Daphne.
DECEMBER 2-6, 1985
Victoria and Donna schemed to break up Marley and Jake's romance. Grant was hospitalized after breathing the poison gas in the Egyptian artifact that Nancy had sent to Mac. Nancy and Chris presumed that Carl drowned in the lake, but Carl's body disappeared. Cass, who's out on bail, realized that Carl's the only one who can prove Cass didn't kill Daphne. Felicia rejected Edward's marriage proposal. Clarice and Larry romped in the sack. Sally was upset that Kevin wants to live with Catlin. Daniel rescued Sally, who'd been stranded after a boating mishap. Chris wants a staid lifestyle while Nancy lusts for adventure. Felicia nixed going on a romantic vacation with Zane. Daniel spent a platonic night with Sally, admitting that he loves her.
DECEMBER 9-13, 1985
Catlin told Marley he's got a lead on her father, Michael Garrison. Donna hired Victoria's ex-flame, Ned, to bust up Jake and Marley's romance and to get Jake out of town. Carter was upset when Grant suffered another mysterious heart attack. No one realized that Grant had inhaled the gases from the amphora. Brittany nursed a drunken Catlin and threw Sally out of Catlin's cabin. Cass is angry at Kathleen, who insisted she will carry on her life without him unless she regains the use of her legs. Victoria admitted to Donna that she still loves Jake. Edward had a minor car accident while lamenting the fact that he's lost Felicia to Zane.
DECEMBER 16-20, 1985
Donna found a document that showed she's entitled to a third share of the Egyptian treasure. Ada and Nancy argued over Nancy's plan to live with Chris, who later nixed letting Nancy move in with him. Zane and Felicia planned their wedding. Edward accepted a part in a movie and is romantically interested in Kathleen. Marley and Jake learned the whereabouts of her father, Michael Garrison, and his family. Carter withdrew from the world after Grant died. Brittany was about to tell Catlin that she's pregnant when she realized that he's negotiating a reconciliation with Sally. Grant's doctors never realized the poison gas caused his death.
DECEMBER 23-27, 1985
Mac's nephew, Neal Cory, arrived in town, but kept mum that he and Fayez are partners and that they plan to steal the Egyptian treasure. Marley talked with Michael's Aunt Bertha, who thinks that Michael is dead since the family hasn't heard from him in 20 years. Ellie, who's the daughter-in-law of Michael's brother, Eugene Garrison, doesn't believe Michael's dead. Nancy gave Mac the amphora as a Christmas gift and when he opened it he began gasping for breath. Sally and Catlin reconciled. Brittany considered a romance with Peter, who's been pursuing her hot and heavy. Jake gave Marley an engagement ring. Victoria hired a houseman, Chen, for Donna. Zane gifted Felicia with a plot of land to build their dream house on. Brittany kept mum to Catlin and Peter that she's pregnant.
1986
SYNOPSES: 1986
DECEMBER 30 - JANUARY 3, 1986
Brittany slept with Peter, then fumed when he told her he's not ready for a commitment to marriage. The poisoned amphora dust caused Mac to become disoriented while everyone assumed he had the flu. Neal and Fayez stole the Egyptian treasure after Rachel arranged for it to go on exhibit at a local art gallery. Victoria secretly stole a necklace from the treasure before Neal and Fayez ripped off the rest of the gems. Kathleen told Cass she's thinking of going to Hollywood with Edward, who wants her to be his writing partner. Donna hired a man to impersonate Marley's father, Michael, but the imposter was thrown for a loop by Marley's questions about Michael's past. Felicia announced her engagement to Zane. Sally and Catlin saw a marriage counsellor.
JANUARY 6-10, 1986
Neal and Fayez realized that some of the Egyptian jewels are missing, but they don't know that Victoria took them. Liz was devastated when an irrational Mac erupted and fired her, but later apologized. Chris was furious with Nancy for turning off his alarms, making him late for his residency job. Neal suspected that Fayez caused the "accidental" death of their partner, Ramirez. Rachel worried about Mac, who fainted after becoming disoriented and irrational. Marley believed Donna's hired impersonator, Ralph, is really Michael, but Victoria knew right away that Ralph is an impersonator. Ellie Garrison confirmed Jake's suspicions that Ralph is a fraud. Lily fretted over seeing Kathleen in a wheelchair. Ralph was interested in discussing the Love family fortune. Cass felt he'll get Kathleen back even though she moved to Hollywood with Edward. Brittany schemed to snare Peter in a romantic web. While posing as Marley, Victoria overheard Neal admit he's fallen in love with Victoria. Wallingford unwittingly arranged for Victoria to fence the Egyptian treasure pieces she stole.
JANUARY 13-17, 1986
Zane and his sister Annie saw Felicia and Wally on the TV news as they were being arrested during a raid on a bordello. Chris realized that Mac is suffering from the same ailment that killed Grant. Chris and Nancy later realized the dust in the amphora is poisonous and rushed to warn Rachel, who had already opened the amphora. Victoria sold the gems she stole from the Egyptian treasure for big bucks, which she secretly sent to Donna. Donna used the money to pay her bills so she didn't have to sell the Love family mansion. Brittany schemed to get Peter to propose marriage to her before he learns that she's pregnant. Cass violated the terms of his bail by going to California to look for Kathleen.
JANUARY 20-24, 1986
Rachel was hospitalized in a bed next to Mac after she sniffed the dust in the amphora and then collapsed. Marley was crestfallen to learn that Ralph wasn't her real father. Chris flew to London to consult with a doctor who's working on an antidote for the poison dust. Cass pressured Kathleen to return home with him and insisted that he loves her. Jake became suspicious of Victoria after watching a video tape made at the art gallery before the Egyptian treasure was stolen. Before Marley learned Ralph was an imposter, he conned her into giving him thousands of dollars. Donna decided to go to Switzerland to try and regain the Love fortune that Carl had stolen from her. Zane and Felicia made wedding plans.
JANUARY 27-31, 1986
The real Michael Garrison, now going by the name Michael Hudson, secretly arrived in Bay City. Brittany mistook Michael for a stableboy and gave him a job mucking out stables at the Love stables. Kathleen insisted to Cass that she can't marry him because of her paralysis. Cass returned to Bay City in time to face his impending court hearing. Victoria, who suspects Neal stole the Egyptian treasure, tailed him when he went to meet Fayez. Chris returned from London and was suspended from his hospital duties after he tried to inject Mac with a serum Chris hopes is a cure for the virus in the poison dust. Brittany was jealous to see that Zane's sister Annie is an old pal of Peter's. Neal realized that Nancy can identify Fayez, his partner in crime. Catlin warned Jake that whoever stole the Egyptian treasure has a videotape of the would-be suspects.
FEBRUARY 3-7, 1986
Victoria was slightly injured when a helicopter blew up as the pilot tried to land outside a cave where Fayez and Neal secretly met. Mac's condition improved after Chris injected him with the serum, so Chris also gave Rachel an injection when her condition began to worsen. Felicia worried that Zane doesn't really want to get married after all. Cass began preparing for his upcoming court appearance. Michael took a shine to Sally. Zane almost got caught returning an incriminating letter Felicia had stolen from District Attorney Martin's office. Neal and Fayez argued over who is the boss on the Egyptian treasure theft operation. Fayez suspects that Neal stole some of the treasure for himself. Jake suspects that Victoria stole some of the treasure. Kathleen refused to return to Bay City with Cass. M.J. agreed to help Cass with his court case.
FEBRUARY 10-14, 1986
Michael's secretary, Sherry, warned that his big bucks business is suffering while he's hanging out in Bay City waiting for Donna to return from Europe. Zane and Felicia vacillated between getting married or not, and changed the wedding site several times, too. Zane was jailed after it was learned he broke into the D.A.'s office. Victoria acted less than gracious toward Michael, who saved her from being run down by a car. Fayez, who drove the car, was upset that his plan to kill Victoria failed. Brittany fumed that her scheme to marry Peter hasn't been successful. Larry suspects that D.A. Martin is covering up information about Daphne's murder. Nancy was hurt when Chris turned to Dr. Pamela Bondi for sympathy over the suspension of his medical license. Felicia read the riot act to Martin.
FEBRUARY 17-21, 1986
Zane and Felicia finally tied the marital knot. Jake borrowed money from a loan shark and then considered Victoria's suggestion that he steal some of the Egyptian treasure to pay off the loan. Jake was shot at as he approached the cave where the treasure is hidden. Michael reminisced about his past romance with Donna. Brittany fumed when Bridget didn't tell Peter she'd seen Brittany at an abortion clinic. Nancy is jealous that Chris is always around Pamela, who's helping Chris secretly treat a lady patient. While giving Victoria riding lessons, Michael tried to establish a friendlier relationship with her. M.J. gave Cass a "Dear John letter" that Kathleen sent to him from California. Charges that Cass murdered Daphne were dropped after it was made public that District Attorney Martin had withheld evidence on the case.
FEBRUARY 24-28, 1986
After Brittany staged a fake attempt to get an abortion, Peter agreed to marry her. Brittany told Zane she's pregnant and he advised her to raise her baby alone. Chris secretly doctored Jake's minor bullet wound. To save his own neck, Neal tipped Mac and Rachel to the whereabouts of the Egyptian treasure. Victoria was puzzled by Michael's attempts to befriend her. Brittany pressured Peter for a quick wedding, fearing Donna's meddling. Cass flew to see Kathleen because her therapy sessions aren't working. Because of job stress, Larry thought of giving up his detection agency. Zane and Felicia returned from their honeymoon.
MARCH 3-7, 1986
In California, Cass encouraged Kathleen not to give up hope that she will walk again. As Victoria encouraged Jake to steal some of the Egyptian treasure, the two were trapped in the cave during an avalanche. Michael secretly sent someone to look for Victoria and Jake. Brittany and Peter were married at the Love Mansion while Donna was still in Europe. Marley, who returned from Europe, sensed that Victoria was in trouble. Fearing that they will die, Jake and Victoria admitted that they're still in love. Sally refused to reconcile with Catlin. Pamela schemed to catch Chris, who's on the rebound from his split with Nancy. Neal realized that Victoria and Jake are in the treasure cave. Michael was shocked to learn that Victoria had stolen some of the treasure, which she sold in order to save the Love family from ruin.
MARCH 10-14, 1986
Jake shot and killed thug, Gabone, who had organized the treasure heist. Neal told Jake and Victoria that he was working undercover for the government to catch the treasure thieves. After Jake's rescue, he returned to Marley's loving arms even though he had told Victoria he loved her. Rachel was shocked when Brittany sold some of Donna's antique furniture without permission. Chris was a passenger in Nancy's car when a drunken Nancy crashed into a car driven by the wife of Chris' boss, Mrs. Longo. Fayez went on the lam after shooting Zane, who was looking around outside the treasure cave. Sally and Catlin made a last ditch effort to patch up their marriage. With Neal's help, the stolen treasure was recovered. Annie rushed back to Bay City to donate blood for Zane. Rachel is suspicious of Michael.
MARCH 17-21, 1986
Chris fumed that his medical license was revoked for a year after Nancy unintentionally blabbed that he had practised medicine while on suspension. Kathleen returned to Bay City only to find Cass in a compromising situation with another woman, Tania. Jake kept his lingering feelings for Victoria under control while he and Marley made wedding plans. Donna made an effort to get along with Brittany. Victoria fretted that the law will find out she stole some of the Egyptian treasure. Chris took the rap for Nancy's car accident, which nearly killed Mrs. Longo. Annie donated blood for Zane, who's still in critical condition. Michael pondered when to confront Donna, who returned from Europe, about their past romance. Thomasina was forced to testify against Chris at his medical hearing. Victoria grudgingly agreed to be the maid of honour at Marley and Jake's wedding.
MARCH 24-28, 1986
Cass and Kathleen mended their broken romance and made plans to get married even though her father, Vince, is against the union. Michael and Donna had a bittersweet reunion, and he fumed when she refused to tell Marley and Victoria that he's their real father. Jake fretted that he's getting deeper in debt to loan sharks, Baines and Riley. Victoria convinced Michael to buy the Plains Motel Disco for Jake. Nancy was devastated when Chris told her their romance is over for good. Felicia brought Zane home from the hospital then began writing a novel about his escapades.
MARCH 31 - APRIL 4, 1986
Marley was angry and Victoria was amused when Michael admitted he's their real father. Catlin and Sally decided to remarry. Donna entertained thoughts of marrying Michael. Cass argued with Vince, who convinced Kathleen to undergo surgery on her paralyzed legs. Neal took a job working in Donna's stables. Rachel was angry that Mac has driven Neal away from the Cory home. Donna realized that Brittany was pregnant before she slept with Peter. Brittany altered the dates on her pregnancy record so it appears that Peter fathered her unborn child. Wally talked Cass into betting with counterfeit money in a crooked poker game with underworld figures so Cass could make a few fast bucks. Riley and his thugs continued to badger Jake for the money he owes them. Ada was furious to learn Nancy caused the accident that nearly killed Mrs. Longo. Felicia tailed Cass and Wally to the poker game site.
APRIL 7-11, 1986
Sally and Catlin were unable to get a marriage licence because Kevin had burned their divorce papers. Cass survived the crooked poker game with Tony the Tuna and his thugs. Marley was hurt to realize that Jake has kept her in the dark about the loan sharks on his tail. Disguising himself as a woman, Cass snuck into Kathleen's hospital room to give her an engagement ring. Victoria is determined to thwart Marley and Jake's wedding plans. Donna's attempt to seduce Michael fizzled. Marley agreed that Michael can give her away at her wedding. Brittanny convinced Peter that she's having his baby. Marley worried that Jake slept with Victoria during the treasure cave fiasco. To make Jake jealous and Nancy angry, Victoria dated Chris. Nancy fumed when Ada moved them out of Mac's mansion into a small, dumpy apartment.
APRIL 14-18, 1986
Kathleen suffered an emotional setback when she learned she still can't walk. Realizing that Donna hired Ralph to impersonate Michael, Marley threatened to leave town after she and Jake are married. Victoria secretly altered the date on Marley's wedding invitations. To make Kathleen jealous, Cass took M.J. to a party that Kathleen refused to attend with him. Ada and Vince, who are both unemployed, applied for the same job and later were involved in an accidental parking lot fender bender. M.J. has a secret crush on Cass. Michael rejected Donna's attempts to get him into bed by accusing her of being a society snob. Donna later publicly admitted that she is Victoria and Marley's mother then attended Marley's pre-wedding party with Michael. Victoria taunted Nancy, who's convinced she'll never win back Chris. Catlin's not convinced Brittanny's having Peter's baby.
APRIL 21-25, 1986
Sally was upset to realize that Brittany could be carrying Catlin's baby even though Brittany refused to admit the fact. Victoria was jealous when Donna and Marley patched up their differences. Victoria snitched on Jake, informing Jake's boss that he's involved with loan sharks. Unaware that Victoria is the culprit, Jake vowed to get revenge on the person responsible for his being fired from his job. Cass and Kathleen alternately shared kisses and quarrelled over her feelings of inadequacy. Sally and Catlin made plans for their remarriage. Cass is in a lather over phone calls from a mystery lady from his past. Jake feels guilty about the fact he has rejected Victoria, who was his first love. Ada and Vince sparred over who was to blame for their minor car accident. Nancy and Victoria engaged in a cat-fight.
APRIL 28 - MAY 2, 1986
Donna and Michael spent a romantic day and a night together while trapped in a rainstorm. Cass warned his mysterious lady caller to stop bugging him. A still-paralysed Kathleen is determined to walk down the aisle when she marries Cass. Despite Brittany's efforts to thwart the ceremony, Catlin and Sally's wedding day arrived. Marley warned Victoria that she's tired of her efforts to break up Marley and Jake's romance. Victoria tried to discredit Jake in Marley's eyes by planting some of her underthings in his room. A furious Nancy later found the items of clothing and threatened to tell Marley what a snake in the grass Victoria really is. Neal caught Victoria rummaging through Jake's room. Peter wants to help Chris get his medical licence back. Ada, Vince, and Maisie are opening a new restaurant.
MAY 5-9, 1986
Sally and Catlin were married, despite all the trouble Brittany tried to cause them. Vince rescued Maisie, who was being harassed by a young punk. Unaware that Donna is also trying to help Chris, Peter worked to get Chris reinstated at the hospital. Cass tried to ignore a mystery woman who presented him with a one-way ticket to Morocco. After a series of delays caused by two strange women, Cass finally made it to the church but disappeared before the ceremony. Kathleen regained the use of her paralysed legs and was able to walk down the marital isle. Victoria lied to Donna that Marley gave Ada and Vince money to start their new restaurant. Kathleen received some compromising photos taken of Cass at his bachelor party. Michael and Donna recalled the hurt they suffered as teenagers because of her meddling father, Reginald. Donna was jealous to see that Michael surrounds himself with beautiful women.
MAY 12-16, 1986
A frantic search began for Cass, who was kidnapped by his old nemesis, Cecile de Poulignac, and taken aboard her luxury yacht. A frightened Sally became a witness to murder in the parking lot of Felicia's spa. Michael admitted he's harboured feelings for Donna since their teenaged foray into love. Nancy sided with Ada when Vince got angry that she nixed letting Rachel invest in their restaurant. Jake rushed to rescue Victoria, who screamed when Neal tried to force kisses on her. As part of her scheme to destroy Jake and Marley's wedding plans, Victoria arranged for Nancy to find her with Jake. Michael unsuccessfully practised parenting skills on rebellious Victoria. Zane tried to put together the puzzle of Cass' disappearance while Kathleen alternately felt angry and concerned over what's happened to Cass. Cass failed in an attempt to escape from Cecile.
MAY 19-23, 1986
Sally was hospitalized in critical condition after her car was run off the road by another vehicle. Donna remembered overhearing Brittany threaten Sally's life. Cecile's bodyguards rescued Cass, who jumped off her yacht during an escape attempt but found himself in shark-infested waters. Catlin agreed to Sally's deathbed request that he take care of Kevin for her. A medical team worked over Sally when her heart suddenly stopped. Cass suspects that Cecile kidnapped him for some other reason than to have him as her love slave.
MAY 26-30, 1986
After Sally died, Catlin vowed to find the person who ran her car off the road. Brittany went into labour after Donna accused her of causing Sally's death. Marley left town after she called off her impending wedding and then told Victoria and Jake that they deserve each other. Victoria realized that Marley told the truth when she said that everyone hates Victoria. Cass failed in two more attempts to escape from Cecile. Kathleen went on Felicia's TV talk show to plead for information about Cass' disappearance. Lily tried to act as a referee between Thomasina and Carter, who are constantly bickering. Donna was suspicious to see Brittany comforting Catlin over Sally's death. Michael was very touched when Marley called him "Dad." Catlin assured Kevin that he'll always take care of him. Cecile's efforts to seduce Cass were met with failure.
JUNE 2-6, 1986
Donna didn't lift a finger to help Brittany, who delivered a son after Catlin had rushed her to the hospital. Posing as Marley, Victoria learned that no one likes Victoria very much. Donna admitted she's disappointed with Victoria, but Michael, who realized Victoria is impersonating Marley, said he loves Victoria despite her past dirty deeds. Cecile's men recaptured Cass, who had tried to escape from her island in a speed boat. Peter realized he couldn't have fathered Brittany's baby. Cass set fire to his cell after Cecile had him thrown into jail. Brittany relented when Peter insisted on naming her baby Peter Reginald. Hoping to locate Cass, Kathleen interviewed a long line of women he had past relationships with. Donna tricked Brittany into signing a legal paper that will keep Brittany's son from inheriting any of the Love fortune.
JUNE 9-13, 1986
Neal left town shortly after his brother, Adam Cory, a Chicago-based cop, arrived to work with the Bay City Police Force. Cecile's bodyguards captured a couple of military-types who were sent to find Cecile on orders from her husband, who is a king. Jake arrived on Marley's doorstep after stealing her address from Michael's office. A nun, Sister Margaret, repaid a loan Cass had given her convent. Catlin learned someone tampered with Sally's car before she was run off the road. Catlin apologized for accusing Brittany of killing Sally. Cecile's right hand woman, Gloria, is secretly plotting against her. Victoria ran away after learning that Jake still loves Marley. Neal insisted to Adam that he intends to repay the money he stole from their father. Michael's attempts to bed Donna were constantly interrupted. Adam started searching for Cass. Unable to escape from Cecile, Cass considered suicide.
JUNE 16-20, 1986
Rich kid Greg Houston was impressed when Nancy returned his lost wallet. Adam, Kathleen, and M.J. landed a boat on Cecile's island. Cecile secretly slipped Cass an aphrodisiac to get him drunk. Kathleen believed Cecile's staged scene to make her think Cass is sexually involved with Cecile. Jake got drunk after he realized Victoria posed as Marley and then told him that Marley no longer loves him. Nancy tried to raise bail for a drunken Jake, who was thrown in the clink. Donna and Michael hired Catlin to find Victoria. Zane tried to save Felicia's business.
JUNE 23-27, 1986
Donna was shocked to learn that Bridget had raised Victoria after the girl's adoptive parents had died. Cecile insisted to Cass that she must get pregnant by him. Later, Cass escaped from Cecile's island, vowing he'll set the law on her for kidnapping him. Kathleen returned to Bay City, determined to begin life anew, without Cass. Michael and Donna checked out leads to Victoria's whereabouts. Carter and Thomasina moved to California. Catlin badgered Brittany, who won't admit to him that Peter Reginald is Catlin's son.
JUNE 30 - JULY 4, 1986
Peter and Catlin slugged it out after Peter warned Catlin to stay away from Brittany. Brittany vowed to escape from Peter and to tell Catlin he is Peter Reginald's father. Cecile fumed over the fact that Cass outsmarted her and escaped. Adam and M.J. quizzed Cecile about Cass' kidnapping and "The Vulture," but Cecile claimed diplomatic immunity since she's the Queen of Tanquir. Jake put a drunken Nancy to bed after she danced the night away with Greg. Cecile confronted Kathleen about Cass' whereabouts and Kathleen insisted that she's through with Cass. Donna helped rescue Michael during a barroom brawl.
JULY 7-11, 1986
Cass collapsed on Zane and Felicia's doorstep and they eventually believed his story that he had been kidnapped by Cecile. Kathleen didn't believe Cass' story. Peter accused Brittany of being an unfit mother to Peter Reginald and then he hired a nanny so Brittany wouldn't be spending so much time with the baby. Greg's sister Samantha put the make on Jake. Kathleen immersed herself in a book she's writing about her parent's romance and family history. Michael and Adam continued their secret search for "The Vulture." Donna and Michael were unable to find Victoria. Catlin told Brittany he knows he's Peter Reginald's father. Peter thwarted Brittany's attempt to take the baby and run to Catlin.
JULY 14-18, 1986
Brittany was shocked when Peter produced the legal papers that give him custody of Peter Reginald in the event that Brittany ever leaves Peter. Brittany fumed when she realized she'd been tricked into signing the papers right after her son was born. Cass, Kathleen, and Cecile were taken prisoner by Cecile's servants. A gang member named Aces, who has a grudge against Jake, terrorized Victoria when he mistook her for Marley. Nancy, Greg, Jake, and Samantha spent time with Scott LaSalle, a beach bum. Kathleen didn't believe Cass, who insisted that he hasn't slept with Cecile. Adam and M.J. searched for Cass, Kathleen, and Cecile.
JULY 21-25, 1986
Jake was out on a date with Samantha when Nancy told him that Marley had returned to town. Michael and Jake rescued Victoria from Aces. Victoria confessed to all the past dirty deeds she's committed. The Tanquir government was overthrown, making Cecile a commoner again. Brittany learned that the phones in the Love mansion are bugged. Kathleen made up with Cass after learning that he really was kidnapped by Cecile. La Russo and Czaja beat up Cass in an attempt to force Cecile to return the money, valuables, and property she took from Tanquir. Michael proposed marriage to Donna. Rachel began hearing voices from her past. Brittany fumed when Peter forced her to show affection toward him when they're in public. Adam and Zane questioned Cecile's former servant, Gloria, in hopes of learning the whereabouts of Cass, Kathleen, and Cecile. Catlin and Larry checked out former Love family employee, Gunter Hermann.
JULY 28 - AUGUST 1, 1986
Rachel nearly fainted at the sight of her former lover, Mitch Blake, who arrived on her doorstep. Michael is determined to capture the "Vulture," who secretly arrived in Bay City. Peter's arrival thwarted Brittany's attempt to tell Catlin that he is Peter Reginald's real father. Jake and Marley forgave each other for their past transgressions, but Marley insisted that she won't jump into a renewed romance with Jake. La Russo and Czaja weren't impressed when Cecile offered to hand over the diamonds she'd stolen from Tanquir. Donna fumed that Michael hasn't even attempted to bed her because he's secretly obsessed with catching "The Vulture." Brittany told Rachel that Peter is blackmailing her. A lawyer warned Brittany she'll have to prove that Peter is an unfit father if she expects to gain custody of Peter Reginald. Rachel feared that Mitch wants their son, Matthew.
AUGUST 4-8, 1986
Adam and Michael captured "The Vulture," who turned out to be Donna and Peter's supposedly deceased father, Reginald Love. Donna freaked out when she saw her father. Cass, Kathleen, and Cecile escaped from Czaja and La Russo, but the "Vulture's" thug, Ludwig, caught up to them. Felicia rushed to Cass and Kathleen's rescue. Zane was wounded during a shootout with Ludwig, who had tried to kill Felicia. Mac warned Mitch to stay away from Rachel. Reginald has been embezzling money from Donna and putting it in a Swiss bank account. Brittany vowed she'll get revenge on Peter, who raped her. M.J. and Adam arrived at the shoot-out site where Adam shot Ludwig. Samantha came on hot and heavy with Jake, who's been arguing with Marley. Catlin believed Brittany's performance when Peter forced her to be his "devoted" wife in Public.
AUGUST 11-15, 1986
Felicia grieved over Zane, who died from his bullet wound. Catlin learned that Ludwig, who is in a coma, was behind Sally's killing. Cecile was hauled back to Tanquir by her deceased husband's little brother, who "inherited" Cecile. Rachel flipped out when Mitch threatened to see their son Matthew, who's at summer camp. Scott reacted strangely to a newspaper photo of Reginald. Donna reacted violently to seeing her father, Reginald, while Peter felt a closeness to Reginald. Peter bailed Reginald out of jail. Rachel feared Matthew will hate her when he learns that he's Mitch's son, not Mac's.
AUGUST 18-22, 1986
Mitch and Reginald are secretly in cahoots with each other. Reginald was disturbed to see his adopted son Scott in Bay City. Mac learned that Mitch served extra prison time for engineering a violent jailbreak that backfired. Reginald told Gomez, his assistant, that he wants revenge on the McKinnon clan. Adam and M.J. are beginning to like each other. Brittany avoided Peter's sexual advances by pulling a gun on him but she realized she'll always be under his thumb. Scott and Reginald argued over a mystery woman. Michael gave Donna an engagement ring but she feared Reginald will spoil her happiness.
AUGUST 25-29, 1986
Reginald wasn't happy to see Scott's mother, Marissa, who arrived in Bay City. Kathleen questioned her Aunt Helen about the rumours that Kathleen's mother, Mary, once had a relationship with Reginald. Mitch seethed when he received a restraining order that allows him to see Matthew only with Mac's consent. Marissa wondered why her husband, Reginald LaSalle, is being called Reginald Love. Jake and Marley, who realized they're still in love, huddled together while a hurricane swept over Key West. Ludwig came out of his coma, but didn't implicate Reginald in Sally's death or in Ludwig's attacks on Cass and Kathleen. Greg told Nancy that he loves her and that he's going to attend college in Bay City. Scott is smitten with Kathleen's younger sister, Cheryl. Vince told Cheryl, who ran away from boarding school, that she can attend a local school.
SEPTEMBER 1-5, 1986
Jake proposed marriage to Marley after the two survived the hurricane. Reginald admitted to Marissa that his last name is Love and that he changed his name to elude his enemies. Reginald told Marissa that the hit-and-run driver who struck her had really wanted to kill him. Felicia is writing an expose on Reginald. Alice Nixon, a former co-worker of Mary's, told Kathleen that she suspects Reginald had something to do with Mary's death. Alice remembered overhearing Reginald and Mary arguing on the night Mary said she was ending her affair with Reginald. Cass kept mum after learning that Scott is Reginald's son.
SEPTEMBER 8-12, 1986
Mitch freaked out when Rachel sent Matthew to boarding school without letting him see the boy. Marissa vowed to learn the facts about Reginald's past. Cass urged Kathleen to let the police help her research the death of her mother, who Kathleen believes was murdered.
