personality disorders are categorized by deeply ingrained patterns of behavior that can deviate from what is seen as "acceptable" by society, they can usually be noticed in adolescence but most people are diagnosed in adulthood, they cause long term difficulties in personal and societal relationships and distort ones thought patterns and mannerisms<-
personality disorders are typically broken up into clusters, each cluster harbors personality disorders that generally have similar and or shared traits, although some may be specific to the exact disorder, cluster A is known as the "odd" or "eccentric" cluster, containing STPD, SZPD, and PPD, cluster B is the "dramatic" "unpredictable" cluster, containing NPD, ASPD, BPD, and HPD, cluster C is the "anxious" and "fearful" cluster, containing OCPD, AVPD, and DPD, and then there are others such as UPD (sometimes UCAPD, UCBPD, UCCPD) which just means that theyre unsure which one you have at the moment, usually phrased as unspecified (cluster_) personality disorder, OSPD, which just meeting criteria for several personality disorders but not having enough traits to be diagnosed with any, and PDNOS, which can just be a different way of saying OSPD, but various disorders can exist under PDNOS such as MSPD, SDPD, PAPD, HLPD, IPD, DEPD, and MPD, as stated prior some of these can be recognized under PDNOS, but some of them cannot, and certain places do not recognize them as official disorders
a lot of people will try and fakeclaim individuals for not presenting in ways that they see fit, which isnt something anyone should do ever, two people can have the same disorder and present completley different because of things like environmental factors, comorbid disorders, subtypes, specific events etc, its not ok to fakeclaim people for having highley complex disorders just because you dont think that they have them. "but kieran, theyre self diagnosed!!" "but kieran theyre too young!" "blah blah they dont do this" SHUT UP you arent the one to judge if an individual has a disorder, even if theyre self diagnosed, that is between them and whatever professional they may see, and as long as they do sufficient research i dont see any issue with them self diagnosing
