ALLL-MER

GOD OF FEAR AND HUNGER

In her desperation to maintain her eternal existence, she searched for a way to continue her rule beyond her natural lifespan. Ultimately, she believed that Le'garde, a man prophesied to unite warring states without resorting to force, held the key to her eternal existence. She visited him in his dreams and bore a child with him, hoping that this offspring would be the beacon of hope for humanity.

Nilvan represents the endless ambition of humanity, in this case she represented this ambition via her endless torment of her own daughter to further the goals of humanity.

She's not a mother. The girl was purely a means to an end, a vessel to carry the soul of a being that would usher humanity forward in evolution.

There’s one thing that slightly implies that Le'garde cares about the girl, at least a little bit.
For every other character, (even D'arce) Le’garde says this when he assists them in cutting off a limb:
”I guess it has to be done. I can help with the inevitable.”
For the girl, he says this instead:
”…I am terribly sorry about this.”

Le'garde before Oldegård always had ambitions for rulership but that's not faultworthy. He was as good as you could be in that time, at least until Nilvan showed up.
She gaslighted him into believing he was a Saviour and pushed him to go to Oldegård for the Cube. Then the massacre happened and Le'garde began to sacrifice his own ideals for his goal.

Le'garde believed he could stop all the hatred in the world via charm or brute force. And this isn't necessarily his own fault. Le'garde didn't know Ascension was a trap. He didn't know that Nilvan was just using him. He didn't know that the death of all his friends and teammates would be in vain. Ignorance was his downfall, something he couldn't even control. By the time he reached the Throne he quite literally couldn't back down. He had nothing left on the surface.
