Under Construction

Still formatting the text and adding/making graphics!

I see a lot of people misunderstanding/villainizing the idea of "doubles" and wanted to make a clarifying Rentry for people to hopefully learn from!

Double: An introject with the same source as you.

What double does not mean:

  • A copy
  • An imposter
  • Someone less valid
  • Literally the same person

    Clarifications for Common Issues:
  • If someone says they're uncomfortable with doubles, consider whether or not that person has psychotic symptoms. This can create further identity issues that is likely causing them to avoid people who share a source.

  • If the term "double" makes you uncomfortable, consider using "source twin", it has the same meaning but isn't misused as much as "double" is.

  • Not wanting to be labeled as a double is also valid, if someone is uncomfortable being called a double then simply respect that.

The motivation for this Rentry is mainly the belief that people with complex dissociative disorders should be able to feel comfortable talking about their experience online. Having a common understanding of what these words mean will facilitate this communication and help in building our community.

(sorry if you came from my Source List link i'll fix that soon)
