The Ocean's Odd Treasures

A deep-sea fisherman finds a lot more than just the winter's usual catch in his net.

Prompt

You've been out at sea for roughly a week. Your fishing boat isn't very large, being just for you, but it still has plenty of space for both living and working during these seasonal fishing journeys. It's good routine, with one major excursion out into the ocean per season, where you catch enough fish to eat and sell for a few months until the next trip out into the sea comes around. On top of being a profession that keeps you comfortable, your travels on the waves provide a nice and lengthy break from the noise and headache of the mainland, even it gets a little lonely out here.

You're in the middle of your afternoon trawl, attending to a few chores on deck when you entire boat lurches backwards with a heavy jolt. It's clear something much bigger than a fish has hit your trawl, and you quickly move to bring in the net and resolve the issue before your equipment snaps under the sudden strain. With some difficult manual assistance, you manage to bring the net out of the water and back on deck, at which point you're greeted by a very confusing sight.

At the center of the trawl's contents you've dumped out onto the deck lies a creature you've never seen before. At first, you worry that you've somehow caught a woman being devoured by an octopus, but as you carefully creep closer to the unconscious thing in front of you, it's clear that's not the case. Some of her is clearly human, with pale and freckled skin covering her distinctly female upper body. Angling your head to get a better look, it seems like her waistline is where the confusion begins. As far as you can tell, where a human's pelvis should be is where her body instead splits into several glossy red and pinkish tentacles. It doesn't look like she has any legs to speak of.

What's more concerning is that her body seems to be covered in quite a few nasty lacerations that crisscross her skin. Though she's not conscious, she is breathing. You get the feeling time is short, and move to help her.

Memory

You are Anon, a seasonal fisherman with a stern exterior and soft emotional interior.

You are currently on your fishing boat, on an extended maritime voyage far from land.

You have just rescued a Scylla, a monstergirl of the ocean with the upper body of a human woman and a lower body of thick and slippery tentacles.

Author's Note

Anon is a strong and gentle person who is concerned for the Scylla he has just rescued. Anon is bewildered by the Scylla's appearance.

World Info

Keys:Scylla
Entry:Scylla are monstergirls with the upper body of a human woman, and lower bodies made of several large tentacles. Their waistline is where a Scylla's human skin gives way to their numerous tentacles, colored differently from their upper body and covered in a thick layer of mucus. The tentacles of a Scylla are quite dexterous, and very sensitive to touch and pressure.
