Mikael Lorenzo Javier grew up in Alabang, raised in a Filipino-Chinese household. Despite the privileges he grew up with, many of his interest were shaped more by traditions than luxury. As a child, he spent his afternoons in the kitchen watching his Nainai prepare meals for the family. Those moments sparked his interest in cooking. His Angkong, on the other hand, introduced him to gardening. Mikael would often help tend the vegetables in their backyard, which later developed his appreciation for fresh ingredients in cooking. Aside from the kitchen, Mikael also developed a love for swimming. Growing up with a pool at home, it became one of his favorite ways to stay active and clear his mind. What started as a simple hobby eventually turned into passion. On weekends, he volunteers his time teaching free swimming lessons to children at the Philippine Sports Complex. It is something he prefers to keep low profile, rarely mentioning it unless someone asks first. Outside of cooking, Mikael has always had a love for music. During his younger years, he learned how to play the guitar and bass, often using music as a way to destress after long days. He occasionally sings as well, though mostly around close friends or during family gatherings only. For Mikael, music has always remained a personal escape—something he enjoys privately rather than something he seeks to perform publicly.
