[18:14] Perhaps it was time that Maria find something new to wear. Or at least wash her clothes.
...At least she was sticking to the code of an outlaw.
That being as unkempt as possible.
"Mm." she smiles, nodding and acknowledging the cat's words. All the while being groomed by the cat. Still, Maria had a massive hangover, but at least she didn't look like she was toppled by a tree anymore.
"You know me, kitty. I'm fine. I just...like to do my own thing sometimes, you know? It does...get lonely, though" Maria ponders. She always felt alone, yet she knew it was just as much her fault as any. Pushing people away, being scared to lose someone again, to feel that pain again.
"..." The thoughts linger for a few moments, before she eventually smiles at Kateto. 'Kitty' would seem to be her new nickname for them. Perhaps she wanted to gauge their reaction, or was just being her typical teasing self.
"But i'm okay. I missed you too, kitty."
"Uh huh." she smiles, winking at Kateto as they spoke. She rolls her eyes in a playful manner, now focused back on Justia. Again, she rolls her eyes. Being called 'cute' was certainly an annoyance.
Well, she'd act like it was. Of course it wasn't
"Whatever..."
"But yes. I'd like to learn with my knight in shining armor doppelganger." Maria teases. Indeed, they shared similarities. Mostly being blondes.
She nods, of course. Accepting the woman's terms and seeming ever ecstatic to share how to learn telepathy with her. Maria pumps her fist, smiling with determination.
"I wonder what it takes for someone to be a Knight. It's not really my thing, following orders..."
"Must be nice to have comrades though. People to lean on..."
Suddenly, Maria remembers the events of last night. She was...flirting with someone? Well, that was typical. Oh, right, something about Nightfall.
She had failed to impress them, hadn't she?
It was no wonder she was lying in a ditch covered in whiskey.
"..." Maria's thoughts waver for a few moments. On the outside, she'd merely seem calm and relaxed, a lowly smirk on her face. But on the inside, she seemed to be toiling. Kateto might be able to catch a glimpse. Yet it was something entirely difficult to decipher.
As was any emotion.
"...Hey, wanna work on my weapon soon, Kateto? It's about time I get started anyway, I think."
(Maria Malibu)
[18:15] Roland Halbmond says, "Perfect! See you soon."

[18:18] "Felice Halbmond." She bothers, for a change, with a brief introduction.
"I require a surgeon. You came recommended." A glance is paid over her shoulder towards the two children.
"Which can be discussed later, when you are available."
(Felice Halbmond)
[18:19] Galena Altha says, "I'm available at the moment. I believe Aaliyah mentioned you requiring such a procedure."
[18:19] Tree asks, "Ooh. Can I watch?"
[18:19] Felice Halbmond says, "..."
[18:19] Felice Halbmond says, "Absolutely not."
[18:19] Tree says, "I'm trying to learn-"

[18:20] Felice Halbmond asks, "I promised my sons to go home. Will you be available later?"
[18:20] Galena Altha says, "Of course. I should be around here."
[18:22] At least Maria keeping to the code of the outlaw gave them an excuse to care for them more. Even if it is just in the appearance department. There wasn't too much they could do about the hangover outside of make sure she was drinking plenty of water. They were starting to feel like a doting parent now.
"No I get that. I do that quite a bit as well when I can, even if I can't at the moment." They knew how lonely it got, considering how often they felt that creeping loneliness back in their wandering days. At the very least, the cat smiled at the nickname afterwards.
"Heheheh, I see you have a new nickname for me. Gotta think of one for you now in retaliation." They teased Maria back, though the glimpses they caught of Maria's inner toil did worry them somewhat. With the offer of going to work on her weapon, they nodded.
"Ah, right that would be good to do. I've had the pleasure of working on a few projects since we last spoke, so I have quite a bit more experience to aid here."
(Kateto Espero)
[18:24] Felice Halbmond says, "Right. I will reach out."
[18:24] Another quick glance behind. A nod to Galena, then she starts off with the little pack of Halbmonds.
(Felice Halbmond)
[18:25] "Hehe."
"What a freaking dork." Of course, Maria would act annoyed at Kateto's actions. Deep down, they'd know her true feelings. She appreciated those acts more than anyone. Having someone care for her was both an oddity and a appreciation.
"Bye." she says simply. Able to master the art of speaking small words, if not a bit strained. She waves at Justia, smiling softly before departing with Kateto.
"Might have a hard time. Can't call me any worse than the I've been called already kitty." she teases. Her thoughts now waver with her plans of what to do with Lavenza's pet project. She had the blueprints collecting dust in her room for a while now. Perhaps it was time to do something with them.
She turns and bows playfully to Justia, another goodbye before she simply departs with Kateto.
(Maria Malibu)
[18:26] Justia seemed to be annoyed as she typed on her transciever before letting out a sigh and smiling at the two of them.
(Justia)
[18:26] Justia says, "Sorry"
[18:26] Maria Malibu shakes her head! As if to say, it's okay!

[18:26] Justia says, "I am trying to keep up with someone messaging me over and over."
[18:27] Maria Malibu says, "Mm."
[18:27] Maria Malibu nods!

[18:27] Kateto Espero says, "It's no worry, though it's nice to speak to you again."
[18:27] Maria Malibu exclaims, "Mhm!"
[18:27] Justia says, "Be safe you two."
[18:27] Kateto Espero says, "I should give out my own transciever channel more, though it's not like I have a shortage of people coming to talk to me..."
[18:27] Maria Malibu exclaims, "Mhm, mhm!"
[18:27] Kateto Espero exclaims, "Ah and you stay safe as well Justia!"
[18:27] Maria Malibu waves!
(Maria Malibu)
[18:27] Justia says, "I will try"
[18:28] Maria Malibu says, "..."
[18:28] Maria Malibu thinks, "Fuck"
[18:29] Maria Malibu thinks, "I need a boat."
[18:29] Kateto Espero says, "I got one, no worries."
[18:29] Maria Malibu thinks, "...Some stupid demon stole mine"
[18:29] Maria Malibu thinks, "Thank you."
[18:29] Kateto Espero asks, "Hmm? Which one?"
[18:48] "I'm kidding. You really didn't taste the whiskey in my breath? I was drunk! Ah, but don't worry. Completely sober now. If not...entirely hungover."
"Anyway." she giggles, turning away from Kateto and giggling lightly to herself. She wanted to tease them more, but there was something more important to divulge.
"..."
"..."
Her mind quite literally goes blank, as she too remembers the memory. A blush is expressed on her features. Maria paralyzed for just a few moments before snapping back to reality.
"...Anyway!"
She rummages through her chests, finally locating the old materials and blueprints for Lavenza's project. It had been slightly altered since then with Maria's own writings, making a copy of the blueprints for herself and renaming the weapon to the titular
'Lavender Moon'
"Mm." she gestures for them to follow to the other room. A more permanent workshop where she can work.
Lavenza's old quarters. It's state of the art equipment having been laid dormant for.
Well, since their passing.
Cobwebs litter their room. As Maria lights the torches, she'd get to work in cleaning the bits of dust scattered about the working quarters. Sweeping away the cobwebs and using this workshop for it's purpose after so many years.
It brought pain in her hue, seeing Lavenza's workshop like this. The place they spent so many hours, resources, blood, sweat, and tears into studying their passions. The same place Maria was consoled when Levius had died, the place she too had worked on so many alchemy projects and artificery with.
Now naught but a desolate, quiet grave.
"..."
At least now, it would be put to good use.
"Alright..." she places the duo of blueprints on the workstation. One, was the original blueprint for Levius's rifle. An Arcanium alloy, bolt action rifle with the ability to harness one's mana and runic sequences on the fly. It was a meticulous and complicated piece, every inch and detail made with passion and perspective. As typical for Lavenza.
The second was a copy of the blueprints. Maria would add to the design, having modified and created new existing sequences and switching the rifle from a bolt action to a lever action rifle. Still, it would be made with the same components. And of course, be made of Arcanium and Eternite alloys. A prime weapon for an outlaw. And a reminder.
A tribute, to those lost.
"What do you think? I was never a blueprinting person. I got a C in my class. Kinda just like to do things on the fly when it comes to runecasting and artificing."
"I added some new sequences, see? These runes are made specifically to interact with the Lifestream and help me practice my Wayfinding. Also..." A new alloy is added to the blueprints. A rare ore equivalent and similar to Arcanium, yet as black as night. It rivaled it's color to a darkened midnight. It would certainly give the rifle a unique look, being made with such special ore.
"It's not going to be easy, making this thing. I ran the calculations, and...well, if we don't do this perfectly, we can fuck up a lot of materials. But I think we can work on just the frame for today. What do you think, kitty?"
(Maria Malibu)
19:11] "Well I did, but, um, I didn't really mind..." They admitted. It wasn't like their mind wasn't already preoccupied enough in that moment. "I would ask why you drink so much, but I think that much isn't anything I'm not already aware of. If you ever need someone to talk to though, I'm here for you alright?" The cat took a more serious tone for that last statement, holding a hand to their heart.
The blush which appeared on Maria's face a moment later causes a crack in that expression. Another smile given, more playful in nature. Were they doing work right now, maybe the cat would tease her a bit more, but that'd have to wait for now.
Tilting their head in curiosity, they stood on the tips of their toes to look over Maria's shoulder and read the blueprints, a bit of sorrow filling their heart as their thoughts strayed to Lavenza.
They stayed close to her as they followed Maria to Lavenza's old quarters. They hadn't ever been here, but that feeling never went away in their heart. So much had happened since their passing, yet this room seemed to remain ever unchanged outside of the scars and dirtiness which time left on the equipment.
Even with these thoughts consuming their mind however, the cat nodded their head resolutely, seemingly at nothing in particular. This was for the dead. For their memory, so that they will always be with the two of them. They'd put this workstation to good use.
Looking over the blueprints proper now, Kateto tapped their finger to their chin, trying to take in everything and understand Lavenza and Levius's work. The change to lever-action from bolt-action wouldn't complicate things too much, though the inner workings would have to account for it. Which, evidently, Maria already did. Accuracy did not seem what she cared for anyways, so the much more rapid-fire potential of lever action seemed to fit her.
A small smile graced their face once more. "I think it's quite fitting for you, you know." They tilted their head to the side at the mention of runecasting. They still weren't too familiar with runes in general, even if at this point they knew a few of the gobbish ones at most thanks to Nomul. "The difference between lever-action and bolt-action are well accounted for, and the runic sequences are...probably fine. I'm still not too familiar with runes myself, unfortunately. Outside of the ones used in basic enchanting of course."
Resting their hand on their fist, they continued speaking. "Considering it has to do with the lifestream, likely best for me not to try to do that anyways. I'll be cleansed of my witchhood soon, but for the time being I'm still a minor Fel influence."
However, a moment after, despite their previous words, their smile widened at the question posed to them. Maybe it was the nickname growing on them, or merely the promise of a challenge. "Ah, well you should know I'm quite adamant about doing things others say is nigh impossible. Half of my goals are such things."
(Kateto Espero)
[19:30] "...I guess it runs in the family. Didn't help my siblings died and alcohol was readily available and the only thing to numb my pain."
"...But there are...better coping mechanisms. Like this one." she smiles, turning to Kateto.
"...I guess every outlaw has to make mistakes and get a little drunk every now and then. Momma was always a free spirit, I reckon I got both the worst and best parts of her." she shakes her head, focusing back on the project at hand.
"...Us Malibus never had an heirloom to call our own, you know? Momma had her guitar. But she stopped playing for us a while ago. Maybe...this can be our heirloom. Our legacy..."
"Us Malibu's...we're free spirits. We are hated, we are ridiculed, we are laughed at. But we are free. I want this rifle, my Lavender Moon, to be my answer against all of that. To deny everything, and live how I want too. Against a world against me."
"It's what Venza would have wanted. What Lev would have wanted..." She nods, her eyes were watering as she gazed into the pages of those blueprints. Kateto finds the toil in her psyche, the scars present in her heart. Sure, those scars had healed enough by now, but they were still there.
Nothing could fill the hole in her heart marked by the loss of them. Nothing.
Not even redemption.
...But maybe this could help.
"Likewise, Kitty. You're my friend. And..." a pause in her thoughts. Toiling with her emotions already, it would seem. She'd wonder what they really were. Lovers? Friends? Or something more?
"I did mean it when I said I loved you. I want to protect you. With this very rifle."
"I want to be strong. So I never lose anyone ever again."
She smiles as she explains in more detail the intricacies of her weapon. Lever action suited a gunslinger best. Maria was a crack shot already. Increasing her fire rate would only make the little sharpshooter more deadly!
"Heh. Think so?" she asks the cat. A proper companion for a proper gunslinger. A symbol of freedom. A symbol of loneliness. And a symbol of maintaining one's self against the odds.
"I can take care of all of those frisky runic sequences. So no worries, kitty. I just need you to help me make the frame, mostly. We can make a prototype, see how it works, how it shoots...and adjust from there." she nods. Even if they failed, she knew that it would only account for the betterment of their product.
"No worries, then. I'll take care of all of that. Going through Venza'snotes, I was able to learn a thing or two of their methods. It should help when creating the runes.
"Hehe. This design is practically impossible. We're fusing material that is extremely difficult to fuse. Luckily, Momma had enough money to give us a state of the art smith and rune station."
"...So..." she pauses, placing both hands on her hips and nodding at the blueprints. She takes a deep sigh, before turning to Kateto once again.
"Let's get to work."
Maria begins to rummage through the locked chests. Of course, she didn't have the key for them. Lavenza most likely died with it on their person. So...
She'd just shoot the locks open.
'BANG!'
"First step. Let's smelt the ore and make the parts. We just want to create the partsand frame today." She runs the Arcanium, Eternite, and other ores to the workstation. Precious materials, saved specifically for Lavenza's pet project. Kept in pristine condition. And of course.
Only used once.
Maria starts up the smithing station and arcana station. The smith roars to light, a burst of flame towering above the duo before it is quelled. She activates the rest of the workshop's old equipment. Collecting the parts and materials needed to begin their work.
"I'll be making the frame, and...you can make the parts, yeah?" The blueprints and list of parts are given to Kateto. They'd find the typical parts needed for a rifle. Barrel, hammer, ejection port, sights, etc. Maria would be working on the body or 'frame' of the rifle. The main source of it being the rare alloy that had been given to her by Majora.
"..."
(Maria Malibu)
[19:32] The first steps begin by smelting the ore. Maria uses her side of the smith to begin smelting first the Arcanium, placing the ore into a large barrel before heating it up at extreme temperatures. The smith would be infused with runic sequences, an arcane sigil from under it's frame being the source of infusing the metal with the selfsame magics. Maria alters the runes, bringing up a tablet of sorts as she began to melt the precious Arcanium into nothing but a grey-ish blue liquid. The tablet allows her to switch the runes on the fly, applying the magics and allowing the sequences to seep right into the metal.
As she's doing that, Kateto would have the process of making and smelting the parts. Maria teaches Kateto how to work this runic system, showing him the tablet that allows him to fuse the metal into specific molds on the fly. The runes were already pre programmed by Maria to fuse liquid metal into the molds. All Kateto needed to do was smelt, pour the liquid, and use the tablet to choose which part he wanted to make.
"Simple, yeah? We got this!"
(Maria Malibu)
[20:09] "I was worried I was just nagging you there for a moment, but...it's relieving to hear that you already know that it isn't healthy in the long term. I've had far too much experience with self-destructive coping mechanisms..." Listening attentively to Maria's words, the cat nodded along to her words. Though another pang of pain sang out in their heart, there was a smile of contentment, surprisingly.
"We all make mistakes. You could do a Hel of a lot worse than just getting a bit drunk, you know. Even so, forgive me for being a bit of a worrywort about it. I'm a doctor after all, so this is sorta my job, right?" They spoke with a chuckle, eyes trailing Maria's towards the project sitting upon the workshop. Waiting to be started.
"I suppose it could be. The book which I learned alchemy from could be considered a heirloom I suppose, but ultimately...I wonder if the lack of heirlooms are more fitting for our families." Needless to say, Kateto believed heirlooms to be quite overrated. Outside of their use to pass on the memory of those who originally owned it.
"I've gotten along with you all because you're free spirits. It's why I've grown quite a love for you all." Kateto held their hands to their heart, smiling gently subconsciously. Maria especially held a place in their heart, even if they tried to hold their feelings back for the sake of going slow. "If the world is against you, then I'm against the world as well, alright? I ain't gonna let you be alone, got it? I've already started going against the world with how many people I've slighted in high positions." The cat said, placing a hand on her shoulder to try to reassure her.
"..." They didn't have much to say to that next statement however. It was hard to live according to the wishes of the deceased. Unable to ask nor know what they would've truly wanted. Kateto had been living in Lavenza's memory this entire time, but they never came to an understanding of what that meant. But, so long as they were alive, helping their friends as they always did back then. So long as they still embodied the spirit of that same cat which once called Lavenza their rival, they hoped Lavenza would be happy.
The scars in the woman's soul were worrying, but it was something they understood completely. There were some things you couldn't fix. Only come to terms with and learn to move on despite it. Even now, they themself were only barely making progress there. The enby's friends being a huge aid in that endeavor.
There was a small blush on their face when Maria reiterated that her confession of love was genuine. "And I want to protect you as well...or at the very least be able to care for you, you know? To make sure that no matter what you get up to, that you'll be able to get up and keep moving if you fall." Though losing people was not something either of them could get away from. It wasn't a matter of strength, but rather just the fact they were at the mercy of Meranthe's cruelty.
When asked if they really thought the blueprints were good, they nodded. "Of course I really think so. I wouldn't try to sugarcoat anything if the blueprints were badly designed."
They tapped their chest as the girl continued speaking, bowing their head as their role in this weapon's creation was set. "Aye, aye! Wouldn't be the first time I've made a delicate frame. I'll do my best, even if it is only a prototype. You underestimate my metal fusing abilities. Alloys are around half of what I make you know." They spoke with that same confidence they always had when speaking on their specialties. Alchemy, artificing, they were seeking to get some experience with Order and Chaos magic to go into more advanced magical arts as well.
"Might just need a harmonizer you know. Something to make the magic within both play nice with one another if that's what stops them from combining well. A quench might help here." It was something fairly common in alchemy, harmonizers that is. Specific quenches were just something they learned from their projects.
The parts would be quite complex to make, but flicking their goggles down over their eyes and putting on some gloves and an apron as they took note of the tools at their disposal. A whistle of awe escaped their lips as they looked at the smithing station roar to life. Their own was fairly simple in comparison. Though with those fundamentals ingrained in their mind, they could work well enough here.
"Is there anything I should know about this workstation before I start trying to purify the metal? It ain't going to purify it by itself, right?" They asked as they looked over the blueprints and the list of parts needed. Small parts which required quite a bit of precision. Luckily something Kateto wasn't unfamiliar with, and this workstation should help quite a bit with the molding of the metal. They might be able to carve it from a larger bi
(Kateto Espero)
[20:10] Their questions were answered fairly handily by Maria's explanations. Luckily molding the parts wouldn't be too difficult. Which means that they could just focus on smelting the metals and making sure no impurities were remaining when they put it into specific molds. "Very simple. Such automation isn't something I'm used to admittedly."
(Kateto Espero)
[20:29] "...You're not nagging me. I know you care for me, Kateto. I..."
"I dunno. I should be better, I know." Maria admits. Her drinking had gotten to the point she couldn't go a day without visiting the local bar. It was...fun for her. Getting drunk and getting into trouble. A free spirit being as dangerous as it was charming.
But even Maria knew deep down those days wouldn't last long.
Not if she couldn't protect herself or those in her heart.
"Really? Like what?" she asks. Kateto had known much about Maria, but here, she'd inquire about them as she worked. Continuing the process of making the frame, meticulously following her blueprints and smelting metal in a gentle fashion. Maria poured every ounce of herself into this piece, the sweat already flowing from her brow.
"Heh. Yeah, I guess so. I mean, I've already made alot of stupid mistakes. Most of them drunk."
"...Meeting you was not one of them." her psyche echoes softly, smiling at the cat as she continued her work.
"Mm. Something tells me it's a bit more than a little doctor's intuition, kitty. But...I appreciate it nonetheless."
"Maybe." she ponders the thought, shrugging at the words told to her regarding the lack of heirlooms in their families.
"Many families are famous across Meranthe. The Malibu's...are more infamous than anything. Whether it be my momma's actions or something else. We seem to carry...a burden. I can't explain it." she pauses, pondering before continuing her smithing. Now, she'd had the basic mold finished. Using the precise amount of metal needed to form the parts that would make up the frame. But metal wasn't all that would form this piece. As Maria suddenly pulls...
A large block of wood!
High quality wood, but as the Arcanium continues to smelt, she'd begin to carve out the stock. Using the blueprints as her guide, she'd begin to carve the stock using the equipment available to her, a electric powered saw carving away the wood into a finished piece.
"Heirloom or not. This is...my answer. To everything. I...wish I can make more sense other than that. This rifle is my answer. To my pain, my...my everything."
"And Levius and Lavenza's too."
"This is for them. As much as it is for me." her words echo, Maria beginning the meticulous process of carving the stock. The high power saw makes quick work of the wood, Maria now in the process of shaving off the parts that would soon be the stock of the rifle.
"Hehe. I'm quite glad to hear that. You seem to be a kindred spirit as well, Kitty." she puts on her goggles, the whir of a high powered saw echoing through the building.
"Likewise, kitty."
"...If the world is against you, they are against me. And gods save those who are against me."
"For I will never let them take you away from me." that would be her answer for now. Maria growing more focused on her work as she carved the stock for her rifle. It would be interchangeable, of course. If she ever gathered a more unique material, could she make a better one in the coming future.
"I guess...that is just the fate of people like us."
"...Alone, afraid. Scared. Yet against the world nonetheless. We follow our own hearts. That's...that's what being an outlaw is. Following yourself. As moral as immoral as your heart may be."
"Guess you're more like an outlaw than u though, eh? Hehe." she giggles, Shaving off the parts of wood still remnant. She begins to sand the stock now, placing a clear solution across the shape she had made.
Like Kateto, Maria had been living in the memory of both Lavenza and Levius. Yet when would the day come that the duo...
Simply live for themselves?
This thought lingers.
What was Maria?
Who was she?
"..."
She'd wonder, as she carved that stock. As she sanded away the bits of fine wood, applying her solution and making her little adjustments as the Arcanium melted.
All she wanted was to be happy.
To live in the shadows of heroes. To be a hero.
To follow her path.
"Aw. Are you falling for me~?"Maria teases. She winks, playfully teasing the little cat as she finished her work on the stock. Her goggles are placed on her features, as she went to take the molten Arcanium from it's mold.
"Heh. I jest. I want the same as well, kitty. To protect you. Care for you. Ah-...ah, i dunno. It's all complicated."
(Maria Malibu)
[20:41] PM from (OOC)Kateto Espero: I might need to be let in again...
[20:44] PM to (OOC)Kateto Espero: oh!!
[20:44] PM to (OOC)Kateto Espero: oke!!!
[20:44] "I'll always get up and keep moving. Especially knowing that you're there to help me up." She smiles. Even though the duo was at the mercy of Meranthe's cruelty, Maria specifically made it her mission to deny the world's answer for her. To form her own, and keep moving, no matter how many times she fell.
How many times she failed.
Despite the pain in her scarred soul.
"...If there's one thing momma taught us, it's that. To keep movin'. We...we were born in a cruel world. We are gifted, yes. But that same gift brings as much pain as it does anything else.".
Fully set on her work, she begins to smelt the metal into what would be the basis of a frame.
"A harmonizer, ah? Interesting. I had forgotten about that. The special alloy that I have will work as a harmonizer in fusing the two alloys together. That's what it's specific purpose is for, actually. But if anything else is needed, i'll be sure to make it." A simple nod. Indeed, the special alloy she had available to her was what she intended to use as a harmonizer. It's properties allowed it to take two magics and fuse them together. In fact, it was the very reason why that alloy was a midnight black.
"The alloy will work as a quench for the rune sequences and magic. And...ah! Right!" she goes over to Kateto, grabbing their palm lightly before scurrying them to the station.
"The smith has a built in purifier. It takes all the gunk from the metal and throws it away into that little compactor there. It's what i'm doing with the Arcanium. It's only taking the metal that's available and removing all the gunk. Just gotta activate the option on the tablet, like the rest." she explains. Before getting back to her own work!
"And yup! Momma paid...a-alot of money for this."
"She doesn't show it much, but I can't say she doesn't love us. The automation will certainly speed things up!"
With that, she allows Kateto to work. Maria would be double tasking both the creation of the frame and the other 'wooden' parts of the rifle. Using the stations automation and facilities to further her work on the rifle. The runic tablet would be Kateto's answer toward their questions on how to work the station. Something Maria explained clear and concise.
She continues her work, thoughts wandering alongside her feline friend.

[21:26] "Admission is the first step to bettering yourself. To understand what needs to be changed, and slowly making steps to achieve those changes. I'll help you however I can, of course." Their hand rubbed the other when that question was posed as they waited for the heat to rise.
It was the hand they had used to draw blood for rituals in the past. Still scarred even from the relatively few they had done. They weren't built for witchery, and that became more and more evident the longer they went on. That thought of having to choose between their revenge and their friends was ever present, yet in the end they made the right decision. At least in their mind. "My witchcraft for one. It had begun to slowly corrupt my personality the more I got into it. I wished to cope through my grief with revenge...and now half of Meranthe will kill me on sight even if I redeem myself."
They let out a sigh as they got back to work, meticulously preparing the metal to be smelted as the heat rose to a temperature they desired. Waiting for their share of the metal to melt together as they fiddled with the tablet so they could quickly make molds once it was ready. "Alcohol does impair your judgement, but my concern is more physical you know."
They blushed a bit, even visible among the warm light of the forge, as they continued speaking after a pause. Voice somewhat softer than before. "I...I really am glad to have met you as well. I don't want to lose you...even if it feels a bit selfish to say since I know why you turn to it..." Their countenance turned timid, though it didn't affect their work at the very least.
It was more than doctor's intuition. After all, the cruelty of Meranthe made a lot of people turn to drink. Alcohol poisoning and the long term effects were something they were aware of. Battered into their mind in nearly every book they read on medicine.
"I've never gotten along with those high-fame families admittedly. Many of them tend to just be so stuck up we butt heads a lot. Exception being Nightfall, though they're more of a clan than anything." Their voice returned to normal as they focused on their work, making sure the purifier was working properly as the metal began to melt within the crucible.
"Which is just a long-winded way to say, I don't mind the burden you carry. It is those with those sorts of burdens who have shown me the most kindness." While they wished to offer to help carry that burden, the very thought made them blush even redder. Considering the topic, the cat thought of it as akin to a proposal of marriage.
Once the purifier was suitably checked, the cat more interested in the inner workings of it than actually looking for imperfections, they got to creating the rest of the molds. They were familiar with the tablet enough now to do so whilst the metal continued to melt and be purified. Their ears still twitched from the heat, yet stood up straight to listen to the woman's words.
"Just...make sure you know what to do with that answer, alright?" The enby's words were a lot clearer now. Back to that warning tone they used when worried. "The answer itself can bring some comfort, but its what you do with it that helps with that pain in the long run." Revenge was a topic they were sensitive to now. Something which had alarm bells set off when people spoke of things like this. They had gone through Hel already. Still trying to crawl themself back from the brink.
They didn't wish that upon Maria as well.
"And of course we're kindred spirits. There's a reason we get along so well." A chuckle escaped their mouth, followed by a pause when Maria's declaration of protection rang out in the air. "T-thank you..." They managed to muster in their flustered state. Though their heart fluttered at her words. "I'll try not to put myself too much at risk for your sake, though. I don't want you to get hurt because of me."
"After trying to get along with the world for so long as this restraint has been placed upon me, I am starting to think that maybe I have always been an outlaw." They chuckled at the joking from Maria, scooting closer to rest their head on her shoulder for a moment, as if a gentle headbutt to not disturb her work. Going back to their original spot they continued working on the molds.
The dead always were a part of those who continue on. Those whose lives they changed, whether for better or worse. This was the philosophy which Kateto's magic rest upon. Death beget the life of something stronger. Even if the struggle to grow amidst that death was harsh, their blossoms would be beautiful once they were ready.
Being so close to the occult and the holyhad given them that perspective. One which allowed them to accept many people for who they were, because it wasn't their affiliations which mattered, nor the magics they used, but rather the contents of who the person was thems
(Kateto Espero)
[21:44] It was a balance that would be Hel to strive for. Going against the nature of one's existence was bound to tear them apart. As was already noted with others who had tried to achieve similar things.
That was far in the future, however. For now, all that mattered were those they cared for. They giggled when Maria had decided to tease them, deciding to turn the subject on its head. "Well it's quite obvious I'm falling for you. I'd care for you even if I wasn't though. Take your time in figuring your feelings out, and if you need help." The cat smiled a playful grin at Maria. "We can always figure it out together, right? Experiments and all~"
"Of course I'll keep helping you up. Falling down is only natural, you know. Getting hurt, making mistakes, it's how we learn many things." They'd deny the world's answer for them as well, and provide solace from it for other. So long as they could actually go through with all this research that'd have to be done.
That pain ever pushed them onwards.
"The pain of knowledge...I've heard that before. Though it is merely the fact that we have a tendency to see through what everyone goes along with. See the cracks in the facade. Or that it merely makes us more stubborn, heh." They chuckled as their molds were coming along nicely. The sights and firing pin done. Seems like they were working on the parts which required more delicacy first.
"Ah, that should work perfectly then!" The cat exclaimed as their eyes glanced over at the alloy which she spoke of. "That was all I could think of really. The rest will be up to you and your rune-crafting skills. If you need to mix Orichalcum into whatever you use to etch the runes on, do feel free to ask me for help." It was what they had to do before last time they helped on a project that required runes.
With them taking a nice overlook of the various parts and components of the smithy, they had grown an appreciation for the worksmanship and quality which it held. "I can tell." The cat spoke, eyes rising from molding the rest of the parts. "The craftsmanship is top-notch. A shame it hasn't been able to be used too often."
"Your mother is a really amazing woman you know. From the small talks I've had with her, and what I've heard from everyone else, that much is clear. I have no doubt she cares for you greatly."
(Kateto Espero)
[21:46] Maria listens to the cat's words as she worked. The process of making her rifle was naught but time consuming, as both her and Kateto would be here for hours on end. Working on each individual piece, matching each other's pace and taking excruciating detail to match the quality Maria had desired.
Lavender Moon would be Maria's weapon. It would be the Malibu's weapon.
It would defend her family. Defend the weak, and raise hell to any who had desired hurt her or those she cared about.
It was her final memento to Lavenza Malibu. Her dear sibling, who she loved more than anything in the world.
It was her memento to Levius Malibu, the brother who had taught her to be better, who had guided her toward a path of freedom and love.
This was her answer.
"...You have alot of scars in your own heart, do you?"
"I don't blame you. When Levius died...even when Lavenza died, all it would take for me to join that path was someone to convince me. I was so full of pain and hatred. So full of grief."
"I can't say it's all gone away."
"Some witches...they don't...want to hurt people, you know? They are just hurt inside. They want a purpose. Something...something to latch onto."
"My mother told me a story of a woman who wanted to conquer the world. Her first love. A witch. A witch who wanted nothing more than to have the world in the palm of her hands. My mother...knew this woman before she told her she was a witch. She was kind and loving. She was not like other witches. She helped people. She gave mercy to people. Sure, she wanted the world in the palm of her hands. But...it made me wonder why."
"Who hurt her so badly that...she wanted the world? That she didn't want to feel like how she felt every day of her life..." Maria's words linger. She snaps back to reality, shaking her head and starting the final process of her work.
"...It resonated with me, that story. Despite not even being a witch. I feel like...I could have been, in another life. It's so easy, to give in to everything..."
"So, I understand. And I don't blame you."
"But i'm proud of you. For escaping that. For being better than your grief, your sadness. It's not an easy thing."
Maria smiles. She pours the purified metal into the mold, forming the final frame of her rifle. The first step, yet one of many.
"It's as you said, it doesn't matter if the world is against you, or against me."
"We have each other. And we know...we know our true selves."
Maybe it was the constant telepathy with Kateto, but Maria would be able to feel their pain and sorrow. Their grief and desire to change. She feels the lingering thoughts in their psyche, some similar to her own.
"...Either way, i'm glad to have you. My little kitty." she teases in a flirtation tone. A small gesture, before she focuses back on her work.
The basis of the frame is made. Maria pours the metal onto the mold, now beginning the process of delicately handling the more unique and special alloy. This allow was coined a 'Stone of Twilight'. It's make and material more than meeting the eye for such a name. A alloy of midnight black, shining against the midnight in which the duo worked in tandem.
Maria begins to melt it. She turns the smith to it's highest level, a burst of flame melting the alloy at it's highest point. The room grows extremely hot, Maria taking meticulous care to smelt the alloy in it's entirety and mix it with the molten Arcanium.
"Nightfall..." Maria's thoughts linger. Her inner voice grows a slight shiver. Expressions growing melancholy against the flaming light of the smith.
"I-...I tried too...I tried to impress them last night. I failed. I...I was...too drunk. I fell on the grass. I was angry, I was...I was tired. I wanted...I wanted to join something. And I ruined it."
"..."
"B-but...I don't need anyone. I just...I need to keep going. I...I need to stop drinking and...and all that." she halts her words. Instead focusing on her work as she smelted the alloy. It would take the utmost precision and focus, but even then, did she take time to listen to her feline companion.
"Yeah. I was born rich and...could have everything I ever wanted. But still, Meranthe has it's ways of delivering pain. Of giving me and my entire family this burden. It's...nice, not having to be alone with it."
(Maria Malibu)
[21:53] "...It would be nice...t-to...have someone carry it with me." She blushes her face akin to the ravaging flames that bellowed from the smith. She doesn't speak much more than that, as the thought caused her to lose her focus.
"...O-of course!" she responds. When it came to her answer, it seemed that Maria had been realizing it as the days passed. Her answer. The enby's words ringing in her psyche.
She still considered revenge. She still considered 'redemption'
But at least she'd tread her path with a more careful gait.
"Heh. Well, you know what they say, kitty."
"Outlaws stick together."
That would be her declaration. Maria finalized her work. The smith had melted the alloy enough to the point that it could be finally mixed with Arcanium. She stops her thoughts for the moment, taking ample time to mix the alloy with the arcanium at the perfect temperature and consistency. Her brow sweats, the flame of the smith echoing through the room.
She succeeds.
"..."
"Hah..."
A smile across her features, as she breathes a sigh of relief.
"Y-you are...?" the headbutt disturbs her work. If naught for a moment, as Maria deciphers her thoughts. She'd smile, shaking her head and focusing more on her work afront her.
"Such a silly, stupid cat."
"You are...lucky I am a patient woman." she teases. The alloy is mixed, placed into the mold that would form the frame of the very rifle that would be her companion.
"...Experiments.."
"..."
"Mm. You're lucky i'm just as stubborn as you are. Scholars have to be. Without that...who are we but just fools trying to chase something that can't be chased?"
"But anyway, you're right. We're...different. We don't follow the rules. And that's okay."
"I wouldn't want it any other way." she says. The mold is finally poured, Maria allowing it to cool and having ample time to speak to Kateto as they worked. They might almost be finished by now! Or at least close.
"She is. I...take a lot from her. The good and the bad." she chuckles. Crosssing her arms, she leans against the smith, now taking time to watch Kateto and their own work. Mesmerized by it.
...As they were of them.
"...More than I need too..."
(Maria Malibu)
[22:17] The cat would spare no detail, of course. Everything had to be perfect, so nothing could be overlooked. Even if it pushed them to the limits of what even their rejuvenation potion would allow them to do. They'd be willing to stay up for nights on end if it meant it'd meet Maria's standards.
It was the least they could do for the Malibu family. That final memento to Venza, and of course, to help their family the same way they had helped them.
So long as Maria was certain this was her answer, they'd make sure it'd be seen through to the end.
"Far too many to count at this point..." The cat spoke solemnly.
"It's all too easy of a path to fall into once you finally realize the world is against you. As you said...I never wished to hurt anyone, despite my anger. I gave people every chance to turn away, and didn't try to pull others onto my path..."
The story, even in it's simplified version, resonated with Kateto as well. They understood the witch on a level that not many others could. Maria being one of the few to ask the question which they had an understanding of. Why she went down that path, instead of only caring what she did. "Aye, that kind of change doesn't come about due to greed, or a lust for power. I...I wasn't like the others either back in my coven. Always told that my kindness would ultimately be the death of me..."
They paused for a moment, before continuing on. "Even when I realized I wasn't fit for witchery, what prevented me from leaving wasn't the moral reprehensibility of those I sold my soul to, but rather the friends I'd have to abandon by doing so. It was only through the realization that staying would hurt those I care for far more that pulled me to escaping that life." It wasn't something they were proud of. Even now, they found themself missing the other dwellers of that hole they pulled themself out of.
With the metal purified, the cat began pouring the metal into the molds which they had completed. Carefully pouring only the amount of metal needed and nothing more as they quickly switched between the various parts. "It's a comforting feeling to have someone else like me, you know."
The last time they had felt something such as this, it was with Lavenza. "Thank you, I really am grateful that I was able to meet you, and to have you as well as whatever you figure out we are."
Their tail whipped back and forth as their ears perked up. Maybe they were getting used to that nickname. It becoming affectionate in their brain. "Whenever you need me, merely call and I'll come running you know. We do live on the same island after all." Ever obedient to their loved ones this cat was.
Maria could handle the harmonization of the alloy, it would seem, especially with the unfamiliarity the cat had with the Stone of Twilight, it would likely be for the best. Still, they poured what they could into the molds as they finished up the final touches upon them. Double and triple checking everything to make sure it'd work.
"Ah...they can be quite hard to impress." Kateto noted the change in her inner voice, their face following suit in melancholy. "We all need people, Maria. We're social creatures at the end of the day, but those are people you'll naturally grow close to. I get along with the Nightfalls because Nomul took a liking to me, and he is my mentor in more artisanry artificing." It wasn't a matter of being likeable so much as being a similar kind of crafter to him, and their passion showing through.
"No matter what, just know you have me, your family, and all of the other people you hold dear in your life. Even if Meranthe remains cruel as ever to everyone, we'll make sure you don't have to suffer in solitude."
(Kateto Espero)
[22:33] "Well hey, maybe some charming and utterly adorable stray will come sweep you off your feet and carry that burden with you, eh?~" They teased as the cat saw her face redden. Though after a few chuckles, they returned to seriousness once the topic switched to her answer.
"Good. So long as you're thinking of it, then I'm certain you'll use it well." A smile crept across their face under the warm light, as their side of the work began nearing it's completion. Another chuckle escaped their lips as they heard the declaration spoken aloud.
"Outlaws stick together."
They'd repeat. Their happiness at hearing that declaration evident on their face. That contentment had returned, after all. Eyes straying to Maria's work, a nod of approval was given to the work done.
Another smile was given, much more genuine this time, rather than the ones more akin to that a fox gives to its prey. "I'm your silly, stupid cat you know. At least, if that 'my little kitty' remark you made earlier was anything to go off of." A mischievous giggle sounded out from the cat.
"We're both patient, stubborn people. Though it's often those very same fools who push the boundaries of impossibility, you know. The very rules of the world shall crumble before our combined might." An overdramatic tone of voice was taken for that last statement. Even if it was something they genuinely believed possible.
"It's the good and the bad which make us who we are you know. Without the bad, we wouldn't be able to appreciate the good, but honestly, I think it's best to appreciate all of it. To care for someone for who they are, rather than just the good qualities one likes." Their voice gentle now, they poured the last of the metal into the final mold. There'd have to be one more round of pouring to get the harmonizer alloy in as well, but luckily they had left ample room for that.
"I have plenty of bad qualities as well, ones I try to change into better qualities, but to do that I need to know why I have those qualities. It's a difficult process you know, and one I know I can never fully succeed in."
(Kateto Espero)
[22:43] Maria herself would spare no detail. This project was quite literally her magnum opus. Each and every detail was made with the finest of adjustments. Kateto had more than met her standards, for what would be done after many hours of hard work, sweat, blood, and tears?
"..."
Maria's mold would have finally cooled. She had successfully fused the alloy with the Arcanium. Placing the parts of her frame and the wooden stock alongside the parts Kateto had already made. What was left next was assembly and testing. A sigh escaping the woman's lips, the sweat already dripping upon her brow.
She was exhausted. She was tired. She has deserved to relax, after working for so long.
And so did Kateto.
This was the final memento for both Lavenza and Levius. Maria was certain of her answer. This rifle being the tool for her to continue carving her path.
She places the blackened, arcanium alloy frame on the table. She seperates the parts, placing the wood stock in front of it. Hours and hours of work to form this delicate piece of material. She had succeeded, her heart fluttering at both herself and Kateto's achievement.
"I see..."
"I understand."
"...I already know your soul is pure, kitty. I-it's...it's what made me...like you so much." she explains, if not briefly. The blush present on her features.
"That witch my mom used to love reminds me of you. Someone who was just...lost, you know? Who just...wanted to belong. Who did bad things, who did...terrible things. But..."
"It wasn't them."
"When the world is against you. When they hate you. When it has done nothing but cause you to suffer...how can you not hate it?"
"I understand."
"I am grateful to meet you too, Kateto. I..."
"..."
It was difficult to explain her thoughts, her feelings. And so she halts them. Until Kateto was done with their work, at least. Maria scrutinizing every part and every inch of their methods.
She had no complaints, nor criticisms. Kateto creating the parts that would be the inner mechanisms of her rifle.
"...I do have a request, after this. I know you're tired. I am too. But.."
"...You did say to call whenever I need you, right?" she smiles, teasing the poor cat, but allowing them to finish their work.
"Yeah. You're right. Maybe...it's just a matter of me trying again, you know? Maybe my first impression wasn't the best, but...I can try again. It's not like I have much to lose."
"I like being alone. But...I hate it just as much as I love it. Its hard to explain...but maybe you'd understand." she gestures. Nodding at the feline's words.
"Yes, I know. Likewise..."
"I'll always be there to protect you."
And to their next words, Maria couldn't help but chuckle. The blush was clear on her features, her thoughts blank, yet a flurry of thoughts that would be marked from such simple words.
"..."
She breaks eye contact, rolling her eyes at such words, yet still keeping that blush upon her features.
She couldn't keep her thoughts to herself forever.
"...Maybe. I'd hope so. Especially one with...cute little pink hair and such a squishable little face, and...a cute little tail and ears..."
Her face reddens, tilting her head to the side.
"Someone to stick together with me."
"Someone such as...a silly stupid cat. Someone who was...my little kitty..."
"..."
Her thoughts waver, her heart suddenly beating rapidly despite her thoughts. She breathes heavily, no doubt the work of the rising heat of the smith.
"...Right?"
"...There is a good and a bad. But there is a balance to all of it. No one is perfect, not even me. But...it makes us who we are. The pain, the suffering, the strife. Our love and our heart, our truth."
"You're making me wonder...what it all means. To love someone...". A pause in her thoughts, Maria tilts her head. Focusing on her work and finalizing the frame of her newfound rifle.
"I guess we're done. Well...we're both done. I...th-thank you. For helping me. For staying here for...s-so many hours and working with me on something I care so much about."
"It's pretty, isn't it? Even if it's incomplete." The cooled frame and parts of her rifle are shown to the duo. The fruits of their long, arduous work, laid before them.
A beautiful, ebon black frame, alongside it's precisely made and delicate parts.
"...Is there any way I can thank you properly, for this?"
"...I have some...food and wine in my room. I-if you want it." Maria speaks surely, breaking eye contact with Kateto as her mind would suddenly form from a calm, relaxed and focused demeanor.
Into naught but a mess and flurry of thoughts.
(Maria Malibu)
[01:47] The last touches were added. The metal beginning to harmonize as it had done with the frame, and hoping that the station could mix it well enough to not cause a notable separation in the metals. Well, so long as they did the same as Maria did, then it'll come out alright.
All that was left now, was to leave it to cool, allow the machine to finally press any air-bubbles out of the smelted metal and rest. The cat rose their hands in the air, stretching as much as they could before letting out a breath. That exhaustion afflicted their body as well. Maybe it was the focus they held, or just the pure strain on their mind trying to learn and perfect their use of the smithy so quickly.
After waiting a small bit of time, it was done. A weapon which would serve as the final fruit of Lavenza and Levius's work. It was their magnum opus as much as it was Maria and Kateto's. It was undoubtedly an achievement to behold, after the parts had finally been attached. A small hope sprung up in their soul...that Lavenza and Levius would be proud of the work they had done.
"This is for you, Rival." They muttered to themself, a smile on their face as they beheld the product of their labor.
Their attention would turn back to Maria as she spoke. Eyes back on the present and future, rather than being so stuck in the past. "I appreciate it, but my soul's anything but pure at this point. However, I let that push my intentions forward, rather than giving into that impurity." Despite the topic which they spoke of, they smiled still.
"I...wish I got a chance to know that witch. She and I seem like we'd get along well together..." A singular nod was given as they quietly listened to the rest of their thoughts on that witch.
"It is why I understand what she did. The world was against me. Those who wronged us seen as justified due to their affiliation..." They got lost inthought for a moment, before they continued. Back to that day Venza was arrested. "So I joined the people who everyone has told me was the most evil, hoping to find some solace and to make sure nothing like Lavenza's situation happened again..."
"Were it not for you, Aricles, Tate, and everyone I care about, I might still be on that path of violence. So, thank you. I know I can never say it enough, but I plan to try. I'm so grateful to have met you." They had nothing but time to think on their own mental state. To come to terms with certain things, and the imperfections they held. Though, it was nice speaking about it to another.
Upon being teased, they smiled once more. "Why ask away and you shall receive, my Sunflower." Seems they had finally found a nickname they liked. It had taken them a bit to think of something with decent enough symbolism.
"It's a matter of trial and error. If they are people you think you'd enjoy being around, then I can help you however you want. I understand that mixed feeling towards loneliness. I've...I've cried in so many people's arms lamenting it when I was a child." Was it Marigold which caused their obsession with flowers years later? It had been years since they had thought of them...
"And I'll be there to care for you so you can protect with all your might." A change of topic was nice. The past wasn't something they could forget, though it was something they didn't wish to get stuck on again.
The cat's heart quickened at the woman's next statements. Or maybe it was just now that they realized their heart was beating like a drum once more. Their deep breaths had calmed them during their work, but now they finally realized why it was happening in the first place.
"I...I might know of someone who fits that description. Someone who'd be willing to do something like that." Kateto spoke sheepishly as their tail flicked back and forth. Their heart feeling as though it would beat out of their chest.
"That truth is what I'm trying to find, however. Both when it comes to the balance of who I am, and when it comes to knowing what it means to love someone. I have an idea, but...I lack the experience to know if it's true." Their ears flicked as the conversation was swapped back to the project which had just finished.
"It's no problem really. I am merely happy to be able to help. Quite a bit of aid to me as well, so thank you for allowing me to help with this project." They spoke with a bow given to Maria, a smile on their face.
"A really pretty thing. That alloy gives it a really nice sheen and coloration. The brilliance of the luster matches what I presume to be the strength of the material." A bit of a ramble, as well as a more artistic analysis of the metal.
A blush came across the cat's face, however, their smile stayed. Even if their mind was a mess of thoughts at most times, they nodded. "That would be quite nice. I've been wanting to just spend time with you for a while."
(Kateto Espero)
[02:04] What was left was the duo's first step toward the creation of a truly unique weapon. Maria breathes a sigh of relief, wiping the sweat from her brow and taking a low, tired sigh as she placed the frame next to Kateto's meticulously and precisely made parts. She smiles, a shade of red still permaenent across her lithe features.
Both parties were tired, and deserved a well needed rest.
"...It's...beautiful, ah? Hehe. I love it so far. Still need to garnish and assemble it and apply the runic sequences and everything but..."
"It's a start." Maria lingers her palms toward their hand, holding it softly as an expression of the mute's appreciation.
"This is for you, Lavenza. For you, Levius..."
"For all of us."
"For an impure soul, you surely know your way around being kind." the girl teases. The appreciation was clear in her hue. The very fact that someone had helped her make something that was her own, that for a moment, she didn't need to be alone.
She finds herself grasping onto Kateto's palm for a little moment longer.
"!!!"
"I..uh...anyway! I...I think so too. Delilah, was her name. My mother told me she was a kind woman trying so hard to be bad. Kinda...wierd, thinking it that way."
"...Anyway, we should rest now, yeah? My offer still stands~" she teases, her echoing psyche lingering those words for just a moment longer. As if she were teasing the poor cat. Wanting them to accept more than anything.
"I should be thanking you. It's...because of you that I strayed away from that same path, you know? It's mutual, kitty. We both have done more for each other than we know."
"...S-..Sunflower!?"
It fit, that nickname. It causes Maria to blush the most she ever had! That gentle caressing of red fervent against her features, crossing her hues so much that she wouldn't have the gall to make eye contact anymore!
"...My request...is to relax with me."
"...I don't like being alone." her thoughts linger, she practically grasps the poor enby's palm. Forcefully enough to pull them away!
"...Not anymore, at least."
"..." Her thoughts grow silent. In it's place, a flurry of emotions, a beating heart that was as rapid as her own thoughts.
"...Really? You do? Huh. Lucky me." she says sarcastically, now grabbing tighter to the cat's palms.
"...Should introduce me. I think i'd like to get to know them."
She giggles, pulling the poor cat alongside herself, into her private abode. She noticed their sheepish nature, returning the same emotions in kind. As flirtatious and bold as Maria was, she found herself at quite literally, a loss for words.
"..."
"..."
"You lack experience? Maybe I can show you?"
This was a private thought that Kateto may or may not be able to see. She kept it hidden, purposely turning away from her ally.
As her heart would begin to beat furthermore.
"...I do too."
"...Just us, then? Um...alone? Me...me and you?" She ushers them into her room. Gesturing for them to sit, as she obtained the wine from her personal stash. An aged addition, made by her mother about a decade ago.
She pours a glass for Kateto, and then for herself.
"...Do you want...a-anything to eat? I have eggs. I can get some meat from downstairs..."
Maria takes a sip of her wine. Her heart was aflutter, and yet she didn't seem to know why.
