01 - Motion

Seeing him in motion never failed to excite Minwoo, it broke up the scorching monotony of outpost life with a reminder that great beasts really exist.

02 - Cool

He circled around the side of the building, finger idly trailing the dusty white walls, seeking shade from the midday sun and a chance to feel cool when the breeze caught his sweat.

03 - Young

There weren't many years between them, but the way Higa saw it Minwoo was still young and therefore reckless in his words, so he paid it no mind.

04 - Last

Minwoo lagged behind on purpose, watching Daejoon in the corner of his eye and hoping he'd grasp the last crate before either he or Higa came into reach.

05 - Wrong

It hurt to be wrong, Minwoo hated it, his pride couldn't stand having his voice quietened by that truth.

06 - Gentle

‘Oh crap,’ Minwoo thought, expecting the muscular arms in his hazy vision to hurt somehow, but the strength that lifted him was comfortingly gentle and warm.

07 - One

It was only one post that set his phone ablaze by lunchtime, and Minwoo could neither find a private moment to check it or fathom just what had everyone so excited.

08 - Thousand

The further their relationship progressed the more Minwoo dreaded confessing his online activities, by this point he'd made at least a thousand posts talking about his colleague behind his back.

09 - King

No doubt about it, the lion was king of beasts, and Higa’s mighty form striding forth exemplified that fact.
(TN: the king of beasts is the tiger, Minwoo is biased)

10 - Learn

It did bother Minwoo, that Higa was willing to learn to speak his language, but he couldn't drive himself to do the same in return.

11 - Blur

Everything that happened after the roar was a blur, Daejoon and Minwoo couldn't think past the shuddering that infested their cores and wouldn't cease.

12 - Wait

Minwoo gathered the blanket around his shoulders and knees, pressing his face to it like the remnants of Higa's scent would make the wait more bearable.

13 - Change

He'd never felt the weight of such responsibility before, even if in Higa's eyes he'd already opened up, he needed to change himself or he'd never compare.

14 - Command

Seeing something as powerful as Higa bow to someone else's command was strange, whenever Minwoo watched him defend an incoming convoy he almost forgot Higa was an employee like everyone else.

15 - Hold

Dr Maeng had a hold on Minwoo as he squirmed - it felt very different being on the other end of her needle and his avoidant tendencies were surfacing full force, much to his embarrassment.

16 - Need

He just needed to know, if Higa resented him for all he'd said and done, or if Higa was somehow still innocently ignorant of Minwoo’s true bastard nature.

17 - Vision

“I had a… a vision, alright, you were lying on the roof like you always do, still as anything, and the sky was glowing blue and honey milk like the start of dawn.”

18 - Attention

It's not like he sought attention in particular when he shared his posts, it was more an outlet for the things Minwoo knew he couldn't say in person.

19 - Soul

Tucked in the warmth of Higa's embrace Minwoo couldn't help but compare them; he imagined the brightly burning soul of a noble haetae in front of him, and his a useless shriveled thing like a rotten turnip.

20 - Picture

“Take a picture,” Higa said easily, like Minwoo hadn't already taken dozens that piled high on his conscience as he processed those words.

21 - Fool

If there was anything Minwoo knew for sure it was that he was the biggest fool in the outpost, and Daejoon must have been waiting with bated breath to expose it.

22 - Mad

Higa’s hair tips seemed to bristle and rise as his face darkened with a low rumble, his broad frame tensed, and pitiful little Minwoo thought himself mad as some deep impulse told him to reach out and touch.

23 - Child

Haeun dreaded interacting with the child, she'd taken this job in the middle of the wilderness to ensure she only treated adults, yet fate wanted her to know there are always crazy parents no matter where you work.

He'd always suspected Higa would be good with children, though watching the child use him like a climbing frame wasn't what he'd imagined.

24 - Now

Yoonha crouched awaiting Minwoo’s signal to move, for now all she could do was keep one hand clasped over her mouth while trying to breathe steadily through her nose.

Now wasn't the time to think about deleting what he'd said, he just had to get back to shelter alive and maybe not lose his junior along the way.

25 - Shadow

Minwoo stepped out the door with the odd sense that he knew where he was going even with his head down, staring at the ground, and sure enough as he crossed the pull up zone he saw the shadow of someone sitting on the garage roof.

26 - Goodbye

Something inside of Minwoo cried out, like it couldn't accept saying goodbye until everything he'd left unsaid was spilt out in the open for Higa to see.

27 - Hide

Without wasting a second Minwoo tried to recall his training, scouring his surroundings for anywhere to hide and take cover, but the vegetation here was nothing but dry, sharp shrubs.

He snatched the phone from the table as it continued to make high pings, and kept the screen turned towards himself as he slid it into his pocket.

28 - Fortune

After receiving the good fortune of a convoy carrying fresh produce Minwoo could tell something had to go wrong soon.

29 - Safe

It was selfish of him to wriggle his way into Higa’s room at times like this, to claim what must have been the safest place in the outpost for himself.

30 - Ghost

Minwoo was no stranger to the change in pressure that announced a ghost's presence, he'd had the sight even before humanity lost its land to the other realm.

31 - Book

From across the room he could see a book resting on Higa's lap, but he couldn't strain his neck too obviously trying to peek at it - not with their boss Mr Du standing between them.

32 - Eye

Higa’s head remained still as his eye turned to peer down on the cowering Minwoo, its golden iris unnervingly inhuman at this distance.

33 - Never

He said a lot of shit, and maybe he didn't respect their privacy like he should have, but Minwoo would never leave someone he felt was in danger.

34 - Sing

He wondered if that voice could sing, if the low rumble would carry in his melodies, or if lions weren't granted the joy of noraebang.

35 - Sudden

Everything between them had simply happened, bit by bit without discussion, so to acknowledge it in words felt sudden and daunting.

36 - Stop

“Stop, stop, stop,” he cried out, feeling small and ineffective as his hands pressed forcefully against Higa’s chest.

37 - Time

There were days like this every so often, when time seemed to stand still in the thick heat, and the minutes turned into hours as Minwoo waited for new posts to roll in.

38 - Wash

He'd made a snarky post about it before - ‘just how much shampoo do you need to wash all that hair’ - and he felt himself swallowing those words with difficulty as he scrubbed out the blood.

39 - Torn

Minwoo couldn't give up his image as someone who always hit first and couldn't be knocked down, yet he wanted so badly to prove he didn't hate the man he'd spent the last year criticising endlessly.

40 - History

It was perhaps inevitable that someone mention the history between their nations, and Higa had been blissfully content with Minwoo's ignorance so long as he never raised the subject.

41 - Power

This monster terrorising prowess came naturally to Higa, as such he tried to maintain a level headed acceptance that his job was to have powers, and it was no more mystifying than someone else being computer literate.

42 - Bother

Higa could feel Minwoo withdraw away from his weight resting against him, so cautiously he asked, “do I… bother you?”

43 - God

Minwoo wasn't religious, he couldn't allow himself to be with a personality as bad as his, but at times like this it was all he could do to not call upon God, or The Gods, or anyone who could exert greater control over events than he could.

44 - Wall

He snatched at his shorter companion and near flung him round behind him; from there Minwoo wouldn't even see what was coming through the wall that was Higa's body.

45 - Naked

It was a matter of curiosity that couldn't be sated until Minwoo saw Higa’s backside naked - how exactly did the tail come out, and where did the fur begin?

46 - Drive

Of course he knew how to drive, they all did, it was a basic requirement for the job and Yeon Seok was either stupid to ask or terrible at jokes.

47 - Harm

A deep sigh emanated from Higa, since it was his job, his duty, to ensure no one under his care came to harm, and the person he thought he'd warded most had spilt blood while his back was turned.

48 - Precious

A barrier of twinkling light rose around the outpost building, it was a defensive spell meant to halt all violent intent aimed at those inside, though to Higa's eyes it represented a wish to cling to something precious.

49 - Hunger

He didn't wait for Minwoo to stir from his sleep and hastily climbed over him to throw on a jacket and shoes to depart for the cafeteria; it was better he submitted to his stomach than let it embarrass him by sending tremors through his partner.

50 - Believe

Whatever this man was thinking, Higa wanted to believe in his plans, just as he had always believed in Higa’s strength.

Thank you for reading this far. I made up these OCs last week on a whim and named them with some wiki pages and a bit of googling. I hope some of their story came across in these snippets, and I'd be really excited if you were to ask about anything that wasn't said. I'm always fascinated with how people interpret information when they don't have the full picture, especially because it's usually just in my head. 😅
