Twenty Thousand Mammoths Under The Sea

The Mammoth, Right Next To A Very Pissed Off Living Island

Zunesha, the 50km tall Elephant that held the Island of Zou upon its back, had suffered yet another bombardment on his leg by the detachment of Beast Pirates upon the Mammoth. The enormous elephant wailed in pain as its tolerance for painful stings was evidently just as much as it's far, far smaller cousin species.

The crew aboard said ship were all exhausted after fighting a grueling melee war against the native Minks upon the capital of their island for five straight days because those damn anthropomorphs refused to give up that godamn samurai, and then against a siege upon the Marines to try to free Doflamingo. The weaker ones among them still spasmed in the infirmary from the Electro attacks launched against them a couple days ago, while the stronger combatants were resting their weary bodies on anything comfortable enough that they could find around the ship.

All those who were awake looked towards their monstrous captain as a beacon of strength. Of resilience and unending endurance. The youngest of the All-Stars, Jack "The Drought". The enormous fishman before them sat with a constant resting face of cruel anger, betraying no pain nor weakness despite constantly fighting the equally monstrous Dogstorm and Catviper, the twin leaders of the Minks, without any rest at all while both fought in rotations of 12 hours during the day and night respectively. His body was partially wrapped in bandages from the deep wounds he suffered, but none were able to even slow him down during his rampage on Zou. His more debilitating wounds truly stemmed from the Marine vessels he invaded where he fought and lost against an Admiral and two of the most powerful Marines alive from Roger's Era.

In return for what could be considered mere scrapes to him, Jack almost single handedly wiped the main city within the Mink's ancestral homeland barren of all life, for not even plants remained that weren't trampled into unrecognizable mush. None were spared, and anyone unfortunate enough to live was a broken husk. Crucified upon logs ripped from the earth, drowning in their own blood and weeping from sorrow brought about by sadistic torture used both for interrogation and just plain cruelty. Those that weren't lucky enough to pass away from exsanguination or other such means were left paralyzed, well on the way to death from state of the art chemical weaponry that oozed through every part of the country.

That was to say nothing of the devastation on that which did not live. There was not a single intact home upon the majority of elephant's back, and the once beautiful yet efficient architecture that was carefully built over thousands of years to thrive in peace on their unique homeland was naught but rubble. Everything that was left standing only stood to be painted upon with cruel and mocking messages written and blood and viscera. The once bustling streets carefully carved from stone were now nothing more than powder and upturned shards that their former walkers were dragged upon to flay their skin.

Unlike so, so many others before them, the people of Zou that had evacuated to the far corners of the island were left alive and not trampled under a Mammoth's pseudo-hoof. It just so happened by "merciful" lucky coincidence that the Beast Pirate's main Devil Fruit supplier Doflamingo was captured in a Marine Vessel, and Jack happened to be in the area to help. Jack sunk two of the four vessels in that escort before he was routed in a pyrrhic victory by some of the most powerful Marines on the planet.

Such was the overwhelming devastation and loss that he inflicted wherever he went and the sheer power that he wielded that Jack was akin to a natural disaster that walked. 1,000,000,000 Berri Dead or Alive For Jack "The Drought".

The monster in question was resting in the main quarters of his ship unsubtly named after the creature his Devil Fruit allowed him to become. He currently had his lieutenant Sheepshead chained up and beaten next to him for the crime of failing to find the mysterious samurai Raizo and losing to some upstart rookie Straw Hat cook while he was gone. Sheepshead was supposed to be a Headliner on the Beast Pirates. Pathetic.

Though what happened next, no one on that ship, nor even on the ever-mysterious Grand Line would ever have expected. Something that would change the fate of this world, nay, many worlds forever.

Jack's eyes forcefully closed and his giant body shivered and spasmed in his seat for a solid couple minutes, his crew looking on in horror as he flopped onto the floor in an apparent full body seizure. Said crew ran to the corners of the room to avoid being crushed under the several dozen of muscle being haphazardly flung about. Several calls of "Jack-sama!" rung out through the main quarters towards Jack, but he responded to none. Some particularly ballsy or stupid among the crew began to have theories on just what the hell was happening.

"Have The Electro finally attacks gotten to Jack-sama?"

"Is Jack-sama suffering muscle cramps from the last battle?"

"Is he being attacked by a Devil Fruit?"

"Did he inhale some of the Koro gas?"

Jack's eyes finally opened, and the entire crew sighed in exaggerated relief, the kind that could only exist upon The Grand Line. Jack used his oversized arms to push himself off from the ground, the four crew members that were openly talking about something possibly crippling Jack shuddered in terror as the looming giant's shadow fell upon them. The four grown men with horns all cried out with miniature rivers of tears and snot pouring from their faces as they bowed as low as they possibly could in hopes that they wouldn't end up at best like the Headliner currently chained to the ceiling.

"WE'RE SO SORRY FOR EVER DOUBTING YOU JACK-SAMA! WE KNEW NOTHING COULD TAKE YOU DOWN!"

Though as they looked upon the aforementioned Jack-sama's face, they found no frustration towards them. In fact, they found no frustration at all.

One of them called out in a whimper.

".....Jack-sama?"

As the crew further huddled around the four that they all thought were surely dead men walking, they all looked upon their captains face and saw something that shocked them to their core. Their eyes widened and jaws dropped to the furthest extent that they physically could, even by Once Piece standards. In all of their time sailing with the Beast Pirates, nothing they had ever seen would be more alarming than this. For on their captains face lay....

Joy.

Unbridled, childlike joy.

Jack raised his hands close to his face as his whole body shuddered with childlike excitement and tremors ran through the ship because of it. The very same hands that had slaughtered uncountable warriors and innocents alike in cold blood were looked upon as if they were exactly what a child wanted on Christmas and then some.

Then, Jack "The Drought", Captain of The Mammoth, devastator of Zou....began dancing. Sure, it wasn't entirely out of place for Queen of the All-Stars to burst into random bouts of dance...but Jack?! Nuh. Uh. Never.

The massive fishman started unabashedly fist pumping the air, rolling his fists atop eachother, shimmying and bobbing his head from side-to-side as if he was attending a Soul King concert and he was the afro'd skeleton's biggest fan. He even started doing dances that the crew had never seen in their lives, with strange arm movements and ending with a hip thrust to the air without any shame or paying attention to the people around.

Those poor, poor Beast Pirates had their reality shattered irreparably in front their eyes as Jack was currently doing what on Earth would be referred to as "The Harlem Shake". Those with whatever was left of their sanity intact firmly suspected that their world was about to come to an end or that some unfathomably powerful Devil Fruit ability had taken control of their Captain.

They weren't entirely wrong either, for they had the "luck" to bear eye witness to successful Isekai Insertion of a fanboy into his favorite character of all time. The particularly pessimistic Beast pirates were also right "world ending" thing for them too, for this was unknowingly quite possibly one of the worst times anybody could have isekai'd into Jack's body.

Jack POV

YES! OHHHHHHHHH FUCK YEAH! THIS IS SO FUCKING AWESOME!

I AM THE MOTHERFUCKING DROUGHT BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Jack was instantly sobered from the euphoria of his Isekai, his eyes widened in pure terror

oh shit.
oh shit.
oh shit. oh shit. oh shit. oh shit. oh shit. oh shit. oh shit. oh shit.

for he knew exactly what was going to happen.

OH SHIT. OH FUCK.

Jack ran out out his quarters and onto the main deck, along with the few Beast Pirates who thought that weren't passed out on the ground from having their mind broken and had slight relief that maybe their captain was out of his quite literal funk

Bottom of The Ocean, New World

Jack POV

Everything hurt so much. Not the good kind of pain after a proper leg day, but the kind of constant internal stabbing from a knife that's both too hot and too cold, mixed with the worst kind of calf cramp from a morning stretch. The kind that makes even the most stoic of manly men go to the hospital. Everywhere. Every heartbeat consisted of pulses of agony going from my chest outwards into my poor, poor limbs. A potent reminder that even in this state, I was alive. Barely, but alive nonetheless.

Every twitch, even thinking about moving made everything in that area my brain gave the order to seem like it was on fire. My now enormous un-proportioned arms twitched with the desire to move, just to send pointless electric shocks of overstimulation through my nervous system. Not like I could move anyways. Devil Fruits amirite?

sigh

Might as well make jokes to distract from all the pain, not much else to do all the way down here in the domain of the Sea Kings. Hell I'm pretty sure in the state my bones are in, I could sell them as a calcium supplement for all the fishies around me. I guess it helps that my brand spankin' new Fishman biology really is making this a whole lot less boring what with being able to see the sights down here and all. It's mostly scrap wood and the quite gruesome result of what happens to corpses under several tons worth of water pressure from what I can tell. Can't really blame them for dying though, considering we got hit by a 1,000 year old elephant around 500 times the size of Godzilla.

OH CMON NOT AGAI-

Jack's face winced further, as his physical agony was now overlapped with mental strain. His mind body and mind had finally entered an acceptable state of recuperation for the full package of memories and powers granted by the Tournament to him. The former Jack that once called this body home led a rage-filled life of relentless, sadistic, brutal violence in nearly all 28 years of his life, with no regrets save for that he was unable to cause yet more desolation and death. A truly monstrous creature with no emotional ties save for begrudging respect and fear for his fellow monsters that reigned above him in the hierarchy of the Beast Pirates. Now, Jack "The Drought" and Jack The Fanboy were truly merged. The American otaku was undeniably still in control, but just as undeniably now possessed the brutal instincts and knowledge needed to wield his abilities to the fullest, along with having the utmost carnage they could inflict burned into his psyche.

(AN: From now on, whenever the original Jack from One Piece is mentioned by Jack to other Tournament combatants or within his own mind it will be replaced with The Drought or other such pronouns that are not his name.)

It was one thing to watch from the background as a monster did his brutal work from a history book or in this case manga, it was another thing entirely to go from a privileged life in the 1st world to see through your own eyes as you hack apart, stomp on, tear apart, decapitate, torture....you get the point. If it weren't for the Clarity of the Soul (thank Truck-kun or whomever the fuck for that) and the fact that I was probably already halfway insane, I would more likely than not have been entirely consumed by the sheer malice within that Fishman's cold heart and will. Paradoxically, I have to say that very same endless pit of darkness was exactly what I hold my equally endless admiration for, even after directly witnessing the consequences of it. The raw presence of a man who carved his name into history inch by bloody inch was now mine to command.

Sure you could make the case that he was a violent man-child with serious anger issues violently lashing out at everything and everyone, just another byproduct churned out of living in a violently oppressive regime, that he was nothing special. That now I was nothing special. Well, even if it was, even if all the pain I'm going through amounted to no-

Jack blinked in surprise.

Huh.

In the short duration of his initial monologue, he had entirely recovered from his wounds. His heart beat brought warmth and energy throughout his body rather than stabs of agony.

No more pain.

Oh right. With all of The Drought's memories being crammed into my head, I almost forgot about the powers that were granted to me that even he didn't have. Metamorphosis.

Seems like enhancement of all my biological abilities includes a boost to the already Ancient Zoan-enhanced regeneration factor that people in this world have. Neato. Shame I can't see how it would interact with my Devil Fruit Powers just yet considering I can't use the-

Wait a minute! I do have powers I can use!

For the first time in his new life, Jack activated his Color Of Observation. And what his expanded perception saw could only be described as-

Beautiful.

Instead of just scraps of wood and what remained of his pulverized former crew, Jack could sense the myriad ecosystem of life that dwelled within the bottom of the oceans of this world. The souls of countless fish, sea crabs, coral, sea cucumbers, squid, reptiles, whales and far more creatures that were all but alien to his Earthling sensibilities. In his mind, the creatures all shined in their own brilliant flames of blue in different shapes and sizes, each a special soul swimming about in The New World.

Even beyond his sight, Jack's tactile sense enhanced Observation Haki, combined with the enhancements brought about by Metamorphosis' Foundation and his Fishman physiology that was inherently connected to the sea allowed his sense of touch to bestow upon him even more wonder than even his vision. He could feel the water moving from the swishing little tails of each individual fish in a shoal, the sheer force of propulsion given off by a squid more massive than a Blue Whale on Earth to move, and the intricate respiration of water within the unmoving Clams that could likely clamp down with enough force to harm even him. Most impressive of all, If Jack focused his abilities on a singular animal within his range of perception, he could physically feel the process that caused the diffusion of air from within the tissue of a Coral Reef, or even feel a vertebrate's heartbeat, bloodflow, muscle and ligaments tugging ever so slightly against it's skeleton.

Wow. I mean, it's the first time its really sunk in (heh). I'm superhuman. I have superpowers. Awesome.

Ya know, It's sights...or I guess technically not but who cares, like these that make it all worth it in the end. True Beauty beyond Pirates & Marines, beyond Admirals & Yonkou, beyond Ancient Gods & Devils, Hell even beyond this cruel world that could forge a man made monster like The Drought.

....

....

Fuck me how long am I gonna be down here again?

If I remember correctly, I believe that I'm gonna be picked up sometime during Whole Cake Island....which lasted about a week and a half.

deep breath

YOU'VE GOTTA BE FUCKING KIDDI-

Would Jack once again go about The Drought’s ceaseless campaign of violence, bound by Circumstance, Emotion, and Pride? Or would this time valuable reflection in the sea provide the opportunity for a monster to aspire to become something noble? Only Time and the Tournament will Tell.
