personal info --
in my english class, we read the poem "charge of the light brigade" by alfred, lord tennyson. if you aren't aware, this poem's themes center around bravery in times of discomfort with your surroundings. the light brigade's leader makes a crucial mistake leading to the loss of many men yet his men still devoutly believe in him and go along with the plan, leading to a success for the light brigade's mission.

this event really means a lot to me. if you know me, you're aware i consider myself the powerpipa guy and couldn't let a powerpipa event pass by without trying for it! leading up to the event, i had full confidence in my ability to achieve my desired rank and might not have planned accurately to accommodate what i was really trying for. when event start hit, my confidence absolutely dropped. i had seen so many tierers above me that i knew would do amazingly and i personally wouldn't have a single shot. i gave up early and decided to drop my dreams of podium and settle for a normal t10. i felt absolutely horrible and believed everyone who i told that i was running podium would believe i was a failure. i really couldn't do anything for a good while and believed that it would be okay for me to take a normal t10, and have my first failed rank ever. i thought there could be a chance, but i didn't want to dash my dreams and be boated and feel even worse. when attending school on the first day back from tiering break, we begun reading "charge of the light brigade". this poem made me feel horribly sick as it made me believe i was even worse for not trying. i had tried to deal with being sad about it in class, but it eventually seeped into the rest of my day. i didn't want to do absolutely nothing for an event i'd waited so long for and i felt hopeless as there was nothing i could do.

though, with the help of my good friends, i realized there was something i could do. with repeated request and assurance from my friends, i decided to push podium. i was hopeless at first, but as i continued i began to find success. i was eventually able to make my way up to podium and maintain it. i'm so so incredibly thankful for everyone who pushed me to go this far as i believe i wouldn't be here otherwise! i really only was able to do this event because of the support from other people, so i really can't thank everyone enough for this event!!
