Note
- Some words are censored to avoid this rentry being taken down.
- The writer is NOT a proshipper, just educated themselves on the terms. Some terms can be wrong. They made this rentry just for their DNI, you are also free to put this for your dni aswell.
- This rentry is incomplete
hi i'm not a proshipper or anything im just using this rentry for definitions that are related to proshipping so things might be inaccurate. you are still free to use this rentry as a source.
sorry i really like to stay anon for now, but if you know who wrote this you can give me feedback.
proship
- proship simply means "to not harass over ships". this means you believe people are allowed to ship what they want. even if it represents illegal things irl, commonly stated "shipping (illegal trope) doesn't harm anyone as its not real"
- not all proshippers support / ship incest/abuse/whatever, this should be mentioned because of how common it is for "proshipper = you support ALL bad things!!" not every proshipper enjoys terrible tropes! yet some people just identify as proship simply again, they believe people shouldn't be harassed over shipping even if it's awful!!
- this term is commonly mistaken to be labeled as "problematic shipping". in reality, the prefix "pro" means in support of, not "problematic".
- people will still probably use the term "proship" in referring "problematic shipping" simply because they do not have time / or want to do research or find the term "darkshipping" stupid (i'm one of those people). it is fine to correct them! but at the end of the day people have their own preferences / don't really care about this internet slang.
- ππ is a common emoji combo for proshippers on usernames, you can find this emoji combo easily on websites like twitter, tiktok, and pinterest.
profic(tion)
- profic means "to not harass over fiction". this means you believe people shouldn't be harassed over things that are illegal as long as it stays in fiction and it isn't happening in real life. (ex: sexualizing a fictional 4 year old doesn't harm any victims because they're fictional. its not equal to an actual child.)
- ππ is a common emoji combo for people who identify as profic on usernames, you can find this emoji combo easily on websites like twitter, tiktok, and pinterest.
darkship
- darkship means what a basic idea of a "problematic ship" in fiction is. a common example is incest, and more examples are listed under "problematic tropes".
- π±π is a common emoji combo for darkshippers on usernames, you can find this emoji combo easily on websites like twitter, tiktok, and pinterest.
dead dove
this is not a ship dynamic but heavily common in the proship community
- dead dove, also known as dead dove: do not eat is a warning on fanfictions (mostly ao3) that the following fanfiction contains problematic tropes
- unrelated but this term originates from the sitcom "arrested development" where a character put a dead dove in a bag in the fridge and clearly labelled it as such so that nobody would mistake it for food. it is basically a tag warning
- ποΈβ°οΈ is a common emoji combo for people who are commonly are into dead dove fanfictions on usernames, you can find this emoji combo easily on websites like twitter, tiktok, and pinterest.
comship
my definition can be very inaccurate due to how there is a level of "light" comshipping and terrible comshipping
- light comship: ships that are complicated, this can mean stuff like toxic relationships, angel x devil, rarepairs, etc. this type of comshipping does not fall under the problematic umbrella
- dark comship: same meaning with darkship but with tropes like age gaps, incestual /r ships, etc.
- ππΈ is a common emoji combo for comshippers on usernames, you can find this emoji combo easily on websites like twitter, tiktok, and pinterest.
- note: be aware whether the user is a light or dark comshipper, light comshippers like complicated ships but do not go further beyond problematic tropes.
anti-proship
this is not a problematic trait but i feel like i should mention:
- just like the name suggests, an anti-proshipper or simply an "anti" is someone who is opposed of proship beliefs and labels.
- (in my opinion) you can be an anti and choose to not harass other proshippers. just block whatever you don't like. (safest option imo)
- ππ« is a common emoji combo meaning "antis dni", which most proshippers use in saying they do not want antis interacting with their content.
- both dnis go both ways. if you have "antis dni" then DON'T interact with people who are antiproship, if you have "proship dni" or any other label DON'T interact with people who are proship or under the umbrella. this should be mentioned because of how common it is. (I see both sides do this)
loli/shota/kodacon
this is not a ship dynamic but a term in the proship community
- shota (male) and a loli (female) is a common term used in the proship community used to describe attractive fictional children, mainly under the age of 13. these terms are often used by darkshippers when exploring pedophilic dynamics in medias, more specifically in anime.
- a shotacon and lolicon are people or characters who identify to be attracted to shotas and lolis, this is basically "pedophile" except instead of real children, its fictional children.
- there is also a term called a "kodacon" which describes someone who is attracted to both lolis and shotas, this is also known as "lolishocon".
- π§Έπ― and π°π are common emoji combos meaning shotacon and lolicon which people use.
anti-contact
this is not a ship dynamic but a term in the proship community
- anti-contact is someone, mostly a paraphile who does not support paraphilias being acted out irl (ex: someone who is into incest but does not condone incest happening in real life)
- if someone supports acting paraphilias irl, they are known as pro-contact
problematic tropes
there are many common examples of problematic tropes people may like. examples shown:
- age gap / underage: just like the name suggests, A relationship in which the age difference between the two partners is considerably more than the average. 3 common examples are teenager/kid, teen/adult, or adult/kid. another trope as an example is teacher / student
- aging up / down: a scenario of aging up / down an underaged character or an adult character to be in a romantic relationship with a character that is severely younger / older than them. this is a basic prevention of stopping an age-gap trope.
- this trope can also happen to 2 characters in a relationship of the same age where the writer ages down / up one of the characters so that way the relationship is now problematic.
- note: this trope depends on you, it isn't entirely problematic it depends how you feel about it.
- incest: any 2 or more characters that are blood related or see themeselves to be blood related being /r shipped, common examples are:
- sibling/sibling
- parent/their own child
- guardian / guarded (also known as caretaker / caretaken)
- cousin/cousin
- non-biological character(s) that see one / eachother as a sibling(s)
- adoptive siblings
- half siblings
- brocon / siscon (incestual depiction of one sibling being heavily obsessed with their brother / sister)
- necrophilia: performance of a sexual action with the corpse of another human being.
- noncon: just like how the name suggests, the act of sexual doings without consent. also known as r/pe and commonly censored as π.
- zoophilia, or simply bestiality: A person who has sexual/romantic attraction or is in a sexual/romantic relationship with an animal.
- note : anthropomorphic animal characters (example: rudie from dandy's world) are not affiliated with this. this is only referring to animals that cannot think for themselves. common example are pokemon. this tumblr post is a very good example what is bestiality and what is not.

- NOTE: I heavily believe people should be able to use whatever two emojis they want to decorate their profile. They shouldn't let one community on the internet ruin a definition of two emojis. You can obviously state in your bio "my emojis don't mean anything, i just think they're cute!"
