The Snow Blanket That We Made Together

Chisa: Clang, clang, clang… Fufufu, the knives should be appropriately sharp.

Kathrina: It’s finally the day, but… Has Sasuga mentioned anything about the cake?

Panda: No… Panda saw her taking on the phone with some company, but no idea as to what she's been planning to make…

Chisa (in a flashback): …The goods have arrived. This is sure to cause some ruckus. As agreed, I’ll send the money to your account.

Kathrina: A ruckus?! Does anyone even speak that way about making a cake?! There’s nothing dangerous going on here, is there?!

Panda: When Panda tried asking her about it, she just smirked and said, “I can’t wait for it”…

Kathrina: She can’t wait for WHAT?!

Kathrina: Come to think of it, do you even need all those knives to make a cake? Even if you had to cut fruits, that would be too many of them, no?

Chisa: Alright. The knives are good to use. Here you go. It would be dangerous to use them, if they were dull.

Panda: Th-thanks… Wait, aren’t YOU going to use them?!

Chisa: Huh? You don’t really use a knife much when making a cake. Or do you use it, Panda?

Panda: Sassu, you replying with a sound argument deals Panda mental damage!

Kathrina: Now, now… Thank you for preparing the knives for us. What about you, Sasuga? Want us to help you with something?

Chisa: No, don’t worry. I have everything ready. Heave ho! Alright, good luck with cooking.

Kathrina: Um, did you see what was in that box she was carrying?

Panda: Plenty of cans, but she removed the labels. And some mysterious bag. Even if it was flour, that would be too much for one cake!

Kathrina: What, really?

Panda: You would know if you saw! It was really big! Mixing that much flour with water and milk should give you a ridiculous amount of dough!

Kathrina: I see, so that’s how it is. Sorry, I rarely cook, so I can’t really tell.

Panda: (No, that’s not the issue here! I-I wonder if the meal’s gonna turn out fine…)

Chisa: Rattle, rattle, rattle~

Panda: Wait, what’s with that room divider…

Chisa: While I’m cooking, you must not peek inside.

Kathrina and Panda: She’s quoting The Grateful Crane?!

Panda: (She’s gone so far as to ensure that we can only see her silhouette?! And she’s even put on a patissier hat!)

Kathrina: She’s putting something hard in the pot… So making a cake includes even steps like this, huh.

Panda: What to do… Panda’s really curious to see what she’s doing, but she told us not to look…

Kathrina: Well, it’s Sasuga we’re talking about, I think it’ll be fine. We should get started too. I’ve found a detailed recipe.

Panda: Ah, Kathrin, you’re full of enthusiasm, aren’t you?~

Kathrina: It’s for the Christmas party, after all. I really don’t wanna mess it up. Well, let’s get to it.

Kathrina: …

Panda: U-um~… Kathrin?

Kathrina: Ssh! Be quiet! I’m trying to focus!

Panda: I get that, but… Aren’t you getting a little too nervous about doing the measurements?..

Kathrina: No, there's the note for beginners that says, "Make sure to thoroughly follow the recipe"! Beginners often make mistakes with proportions!

Kathrina: For Shizuka it’ll be the first Christmas she’ll celebrate as an actress of Sirius. So I have to make sure that my measurements are as precise as possible…!

Panda: Well, now that you’ve put it like that, no matter what Panda says, it will come off as uncouth.

Panda: Alright. Since you’re fighting for accuracy with your life on the line, entrust Panda with the other preparations!

Kathrina: Thanks! I appreciate that!

Chisa: Panda and Kathrina are doing their best.

Chisa: I can’t afford to let them down either.

Kathrina: Okay.

Panda: Yup.

Kathrina and Panda: All done!~

Kathrina: Ah, the savoury aroma of freshly-baked chicken!~

Panda: Plätzchen have turned out nice too! And Panda loves how we dished up the sandwiches and salad!

Kathrina: Thank you so much for your help, Panda. I couldn’t have done it alone.

Panda: No worries. Well, it was a bit of a challenge, wasn’t it? But preparing a party like this really gives you a sense of accomplishment~

Kathrina: Glad we’ve managed to get everything done before the girls return.

Chisa: My mission’s also successfully accomplished.

Panda: What mission?! You were cooking!

Kathrina: So… What kind of cake did you make?

Chisa: Come, take a look! It’s my special dish!

Kathrina and Panda: L-look at that…!

Kokona and Yae: Wow…!

Shizuka: It’s incredible!

Kokona: It’s so big! I’ve never seen a Mont Blanc this size!

Yae: It looks almost like a Christmas tree!

Kokona: Right! I wonder if we can even eat it all!~

Kathrina: Come to think of it, she never said anything about making a shortcake or Bûche de Noël…

Shizuka: But it’s fine, isn’t it? It looks very appetising. Of course, the dishes you and Panda made do too.

Kathrina: W-well, surely they do. We put all our hearts into making them, you know!

Shizuka: That’s showing. Look. Seems like both Kokona and Yae-chan can’t wait to dig in.

Panda: Well, Panda does find it pretty impressive, but… It’s just a huge Mont Blanc…

Chisa: I really wanted to make it. Just look at its height!

Panda: Yeah, it’s enormously high. Kinda like a mountain… Wait. No way.

Chisa: It’s an actual Mont Blanc, you know.

Panda: What a terrible pun!

Panda: Gah, posting it on social media won’t create the impression I wanted. I wish you did something more suitable for Christmas.

Chisa: Don’t be disheartened just yet. Here, take this.

Panda: Huh? A sieve… and powdered sugar?

Chisa: You too, girls, sprinkle it over the top.

Kokona: Wow, this looks fun… Like this?

Kathrina: Now it looks like a snow blanket.

Yae: Yes! Together we created a snowy Christmas!

Panda: What’s that, Sassu! Come on, if you planned something like this, you should have told Panda earlier!

Kathrina: Great job! You’ve really put a lot of thought into making this Mont Blanc.

Chisa: Well, you see. Since the cake is modeled after the mountain, it’s necessary to put sugar and cream on it to make it look authentic! Or so they said on TV.

Kathrina: On TV, you say.

Chisa: Besides, Panda was disappointed that there wouldn’t be any snow on the Christmas day.

Kathrina: Hmm. I see.

Kathrina: But if you were going for the image of a snowy Christmas, surely something like Bûche de Noël would have…

Panda: Sassu, that’s super great! Panda’s just posted it, but it’s already getting plenty of reactions!

Chisa: Heh. Merry Christmas, Panda.

Kathrina: Ah well, whatever works is fine.
