HISTORY

CHILDHOOD

           Radiant had a good childhood, full of wonder and adventure. She started to fly at a very young age, which meant lots of accidents and broken things around the house. Her rivalry with Glitz Blitz, her fraternal twin sister, started young as well. They were at each other’s throats and vying for maternal attention from almost the very start. Visits to aunt Twilight, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Applejack were regular, although Radiant preferred visiting Fluttershy and Pinkie; at Fluttershy’s she got to see animals and Pinkie always had sweets.

           Around the time she turned seven, Rainbow Dash started seriously training and testing Radiant’s flight capabilities, intending for her to join the Wonderbolts someday. The training was intense, but thankfully Radiant liked the challenges, and it kept her (mostly…) out of trouble. As she grew, so did her and Glitz’s rivalry, becoming less innocent teasing and more full-on fighting that had to be broken up by their parents. Radiant also showed a rebellious side, one that didn’t like unnecessary rules and overly strict boundaries.

THE NEXUS

           Radiant discovered the Nexus, as most seem to, by complete accident. After a particularly rough fight with Glitz and a harsh lecture from Rarity, she flew around to cool her head and calm her thoughts. She wasn’t paying attention, however, and ended up flying through a stray dimensional tear. When she landed, the area was unfamiliar. She explored aimlessly for a while, before finally meeting some (thankfully friendly) ponies (some of whom weren’t ponies at all…). After spending some time in the Nexus, she managed to return home through the same tear, which she then used to come back to the Nexus whenever she wanted.

THE WAR

           A creature, a world eater named Volkanthys, set his sights on Radiant’s dimension. When he appeared, he made false promises of safety if the ponies just did what he said. Some bowed, others fought. There was no safety for either side. Rainbow Dash and Rarity fought against the corrupted being, of course. Radiant began spending more and more time in the Nexus to avoid the stress of being at home. Unbeknownst to all, Volkanthys was slowly devouring the dimension, creating cracks and instability. It wasn’t long before the dimension began to collapse. Radiant was home the day it truly fell apart. At first, it seemed like just another earthquake that had become far too common, but the direness of the situation quickly set in when things started crumbling and falling apart. Radiant scrambled to get to her family, injuring herself in the process. She didn’t get to them; a rift tore open in front of her, and she fell into the Nexus.

LIFE AFTER COLLAPSE

           Almost immediately taken in as Dial's ward, Radiant was given time to heal her wounds (a broken wing and a leg, along with an eye injury). Life was strange without the ability to travel back and forth between universes, but she adjusted quickly to living in the Nexus. She was officially given her own room in the TARDIS. She was given an albino bat who Radiant named Pearl by a shrine maiden named Truthful Blessings. Truthful said she would watch over Radiant, and that eventually Whimsy would take her on adventures with her. Years passed, and although Dial continued to look for her moms and sister, he never found them. Radiant was the one who confessed her feelings to Whimsy Gears first. (WIP)

5e STATS

STR: 16 +3 — Being raised by a Rainbow Dash means lots of training. Lots of training. Flying, weights, exercise... anything you can think of. All that working out means Radiant is pretty strong for a filly her age.
CON: 7 -1 — Play fights and schoolground scrabbles don't equate to hard combat. Radiant isn't weak, but she certainly isn't used to taking the blows dealt out by dangerous ponies and dangerous things.
DEX: 18 +4 — Rarity and Rainbow. A helluva combination when it comes to dexterity. Radiant has spent lots of time fiddling with needles and ducking through cloudbanks, so she has a way with her wings and her hooves. Totally. Awesome.
WIS: 7 -1 — Radiant swears there wasn't a tree there a second ago. She'd also like an ice pack.
CHR: 12 +1 — Radiant knows just how to shmooze other ponies into doing stuff for her. She's no expert, but puppy eyes can get you surprisingly far.
INT: 12 +1 — She's no genius, but Radiant pays attention in school. Doesn't hurt that she hangs out with a savant like Whimsy Gears, either.
