Of Names and Notions
In Which I Introduce Myself
I go by the name Gabriel Rakai Maheswara, though most simply call me Briel or whatever name suits your fancy. I favour he/they pronouns, if you please. Born under the gentle waves of Pisces, I’ve crossed the threshold into legal age — 21 and above — so do pardon the occasional profanity or some brutally honest reflections on the mess of juggling life and school. Though I’m known to be a bit of a chatterbox, I’ve always carried the soul of an introvert, long before any modern test like the MBTI labelled me as an ISTP. Still, fret not, I welcome those who wish to befriend me with open arms and an open heart.
On the Curious Things I Fancy
Amidst the bustle of my days, I find solace in music. My tastes span the spectrum from classical, with a soft spot for Russian composers, to jazz legends like Ella Fitzgerald and Chet Baker. I’m into rock too, with Muse topping the list. For Korean bands, I’m a huge fan of DAY6 and Xdinary Heroes, and I can’t resist a good K-pop track, especially from BTOB. I also enjoy Indonesian musicians, especially HIVI! and no na. Movies are another passion of mine, whether period dramas, action flicks, or really anything that keeps me entertained, like Old Disney classics or K-dramas. If you’re curious, you can find me on my Letterboxd. I’m a bit of a bookworm with a curiosity for history and political satire. When time allows, I follow Formula 1. I often find myself watching YouTube videos about classical paintings, feeding my fascination with art. I’m not much of a gamer, unless Plato and Roblox count. Ask me for the ID, if you’re curious. That said, I’m always open to your recommendations.
A Note Before You Linger
Please be reminded, there’s a real person behind this account. A weary soul, perhaps, but a genuine one nonetheless. I ask only this: if you choose to interact, do so with kindness. While I seldom post anything explicit or overtly sensitive, I speak my mind freely, of politics, campus woes, mundane musings, personal views, and whatever else the day demands. I don’t always reply swiftly, as life tends to leave me rather drained. Still, I remain open to conversation, be it a passing comment, a message in the quiet of DMs, or even a quick tap on my Telegram. Don’t be a stranger, say hello. And if you ever feel more at ease behind anonymity, feel free to reach out to me on Alterspring. I’m there too, just a little quieter.
In Which Boundaries Are Drawn
