Resilient Attachment (Resils or R/As) is a term I coined to describe my personal experience. Though I made it for myself, anyone is free to use if they feel it describes them.
Resil is meant to describe an experience similar to Delusional Attachments. However, the key difference is that resils are not delusions, and can recognize that they are not literally the target of the attachment. They can still be just as attached, possessive, and serious.
Many people, including myself, use fiction to cope with reality. Some of those people — again, including myself — struggle with their life to the point where they become dependent on it. Basically, the reasoning behind Resils (in my opinion) is to create one's identity, whatever that means to the person. By using outside sources, shattered or interrupted identities can be put back together to grow.
This "glue" becomes a vital part of one's self, and can be extremely difficult to extract. Resils can be possessive or protective because of this fact. While they can logically recognize that they aren't the character, their feelings are real and strong.
I chose to name this term "Resilient Attachment" because 1. Resilient can mean durable or strong, like how the attachments are strong 2. Since Resils stem from coping mechanisms, one who experiences Resils is resilient for making it through whatever caused them to develop them!
