HOTARU AKIYAMA lives under the sea; precisely in the warm cradle of Shioshishio’s village. Loved dearly by both of his father and mother. His father is a fashion designer that opens up a tiny boutique in the village; while his mother is a jeweler who usually works above the water. His childhood is consists of pretty things, from clothes, accessories, Hotaru is always fascinated by the work his parents made; he always called it as glittery things—in his eyes, his parent's works are always glittering like beautiful crystals, and he wants to wear them always.

Hotaru always considers himself as ordinary, wearing pretty things is a common sense for him. But the people around him found his passion for all things beautiful are strange, weird, uncanny. Hotaru quickly learned that someone like him, a ‘boy’, doesn't have the right for all the glitters he loves. Even if it makes him feel so great, so beautiful, people said a boy like him shouldn't wear things like that. They talked about his skirts he likes, the jewels he loves like something so ugly, so dirty when it was worn on him; Hotaru doesn't want it to be like that, so he decided to not wear them again—he doesn't want to sully the glitters it brings.

His parents quickly picked his change in behaviour. It was something they already expected, this problem is something his parents already prepared themselves for. They knew Hotaru would get picked on for liking things that are deemed unacceptable in the social world, so his parents worked together to make a whole new set of clothing and jewelries that carefully designed for Hotaru; a gift to encourage his passion and love, to encourage their son to love bravely.

It worked with no doubt, with his parent's encouragement and comfort, Hotaru learns bit by bit how to build that encouragement, that bravery once more, rebuilding his determination despite all his fears and thorns. Now starting highschool, Hotaru will march on with this fragile—yet persistent love for his passion.
