Entry Title: "music troubles"
⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘

HELLO. i finally have something interesting to talk about and i realize i dont exactly have a space to talk about except for here so HIHI

i just finished editing a video that ended up being a huge slump at the end and i need to vent about my feelings;;(っ◞‸◟ c) its no secret that editing is very tedious, time consuming, and a lot of hard work but you can enjoy editing! i actually have edited 3 videos in a row before just from how much fun i had!

but that doesnt always happen and it especially doesnt when it comes to the music aspect for me

i have like zero musical sense LOL i dont understand music at all which might sound ??? for people who dont editing youtube videos - you might think, "doi just add music in the bgm and maybe some sound effects and youre good" but its not just like that!!

in fact, in the past i used to just look around lukrembo's library and just slap whatever song into my editing app and lower the volume, render, boom! but it just always felt off

like there was just some kind factor that other videos had that i didnt. but it was weird! i do the zooms, the trims, the cuts, the subtitles (sometimes)- what am i missing? and i realized that it was the music.

its not as simple as just slapping music in the background. like i didnt realize until recently but most videos these days dont even have background music! its just completely silent and relying on the subject's voice and speech. and other times, theres videos where they have multiple different background music!

but its, again, not just as simple as "dont put music here" "change music here" its like- why? whats the logic here? why does this part change or why does this part not need music? what is the philosophy or system here?

and naturally, with how specific this is, there's no youtube tutorial or blog that could help answer my question...

૮꒰◞ ˕ ◟ ྀི꒱ა

im trying to adopt a much more elevated style when it comes to background music! especially in my gameplay videos!

im trying to put different music, not putting music where i want to emphasize dialouge or bit, etc. and its hard to map this out at the moment;; because of course, im not exactly sure if it sounds right or off or that it even fits in the first place.

another thing is that finding music isnt easy either...

this is 100% a me issue but i cant figure out music genre and keywords... like i cant be bothered to figure out and take the time to go through and learn what genre is what or what keyword i need to find this or that so i instead have to make 20 different search results before i can find the music i want LOL

and most of the time i dont even find it, i just settle instead....

its so unsatisfying and its the part i like the least about editing. i always end up leaving it for last. in fact, its why my intro took a while to make - i just couldnt find the right and fitting intro music!

gah but this just means i have to work harder so im going to keep my head up and pull thru 🍀৻( •̀ ᗜ •́ ৻)
