Harumasa guided the PubSec officer’s hand to frame his face, the soft skin pulsing against the latter’s fingers. He let out a small sigh as his eyes fluttered close—as though stress was lifted off his shoulders from the faint touch alone.
And like that, all thoughts left Seth’s head.
If this was another one of his senior’s jokes, the lynx Thiren didn’t see the humour in it. Deep down however, something told him it wasn’t. Had this act been another way to mess with him, the jig would’ve been up in less than a minute.
Or, perhaps it hadn’t been as long as he perceived because Seth had lost all sense of time in the moment.
He couldn’t think straight—couldn’t breathe out of the fear of disturbing this moment. The logical part of him screamed to put an end to this interaction and go on one of his tangents about how inappropriate this sort of behaviour was. Then, he’d get back to polishing the email and could pretend that none of this ever took place.
Except… Seth didn’t want to dance around his feelings any longer than he had been.
From their shared close proximity, the lynx Thiren could make out several near-invisible freckles peppered on Harumasa’s face and count individual eyelashes. His breath was warm against his palm and sent prickles down Seth's neck. The soft skin radiated against the young man’s fingertips, just as when he held his hand back in that alleyway.
The executive officer held his junior’s hand like it was something precious—like Seth himself was something precious.
And before he could stop himself, Seth stood up and reduced the already minuscule space between him and Harumasa. Gently, he adjusted his hold so his hand comfortably cradled the other man’s face, eliciting a soft gasp from his senior. The lynx Thiren was careful not to press too hard—he treated the archer like he was made of glass, as though one wrong move could hurt or scare him off.
As though the archer was someone he desperately wanted to protect.
Harumasa’s eyes opened a little, dazed pools of gold reflecting indigo hues. Seth, who considered eye contact to be his greatest enemy, didn’t dare divert his gaze, even with the sweat that started to slide down the back of his neck. A light touch kissed his lower back, and the lynx Thiren knew his senior’s other hand was there, settling on his waist. The additional contact set his face ablaze, as if some uninvited spell had been cast over him.
