This is just for a bit of a Simon tangent.. Go back if you'd like!
At first I really didn't undertsand how Simon could be a queer sort of .. symbol, I suppose. But anyway, I found that he does come off strangely. He admires all the other boys, especially Jack and Ralph, and values their opinions a bit more than he should normally. Simon's really quiet and reserved which can sometimes seem like in a waaay hes hiding something about himself, and that could be his queerness
In the book, he runs into a tree because of admiring Ralph for too long, and in the series him and Jack are in some sort of odd relationship. They arent queer, it isnt a boyfriends relationship, but more-so, on Jack's end, "I know you're queer and you like me and i dont mind but its weird, and the others might mind" sort of way. And on Simon's its more "Im going to continue to like you even if its strange but I wont tell anyone" which is sad , honestly. Simon & Jack spend a lot of time together off-camera, they spend their holiday together because neither of them have good parents.
I enjoy Simon's queerness but i also liked his jesus-ness a lot!
