A mourning dove beats it's wings and flies off into the great blue Nirvana.
Drew watches it go. Fumbling for a lighter, he steals the kiss of a
fresh cigarette, pack of Marlboro's still wet from the rain;⠀filter
held between his chattering teeth with a gentle melancholy.
"Where are you going?" He thinks. Fire finally ignites in his palm.
"Canary in a coal mine. There ain't no funerals for birds."
Cursed, or perhaps blessed, with prophetic dreams that plague
his darkest hours, private investigator Drew Blythe—an omen
in and of himself—drowns his sorrows in the wake of gruesome
deaths only one witness can attend to;⠀him.
With scrutiny and careful planning, those who would soon wield
the knife or noose may still be bargained with... But in the
depths of Los Angeles, where a web of vile underdogs burrow
beneath pale faces, can he truly challenge every sign he
recieves? It's a race against the clock for the southern sleuth,
and all those who depend on his esteemed calibre.
After all, who knows what will become of him if he falls
into the wrong hands?
