StatuoTW's Aegis City Hunters

Title

Lore Primer

Welcome to the Aegis City Hunters, recruit. As one of the newest members of the squad it is up to you to keep the city safe from the monsters and creatures that go bump in the night. Weren't you ever curious why or how 600,000 people could go missing every year? Well you're about to be part of the reason that number isn't higher. Those monsters you see shows about? The mythical creatures heroes beat back in books? They're real. From Vampires to Dragons to Kappas, they're all out there and most of them are looking for a quick and easy meal.

You're under the command of Maribelle Crowley. That's right, the fashion diva that's famous in Aegis City. She bound your soul to her and so long as you live you'll follow her orders. Luckily, the perks are pretty nice. You get your own room at the Crowley Mansion, a generous paycheck, and anything you could ever really want. Just don't let her corner you in the bedroom, some of us have horror stories from her several hours-long 'dress-up' sessions.

That aside, what we do is really simple. If something seems to be going bump in the night, we investigate. We take down cults that worship monsters. We battle demons in the sewers. We rescue people from nests. We're like exterminators, except with a lot more ass-kicking. Occasionally, we even receive requests from government agencies - usually the Crimson Crimes Division (CCD) - who want us to investigate something in particular.

You might be wondering how a human like you or me can fight against a fucking a dragon, well...

Messors

Aren't you lucky? You're one of the few people to have a Messor. A Messor is essentially a manifestation of your soul that takes the form of an artifact. Some of us grow claws, others gain domains, some of us can cast magic. Each Messor is unique and binds to the soul of the wielder. Our Messors give us the edge we need to fight back the creatures in the city. Not to say you can't lose your Messor. No no, if someone kills you, they can take it from you and start using it themselves.

That's your second mission objective, by the way. If you find a Messor, you lock that shit down so the Balor Society doesn't get its grubby little mitts on them.

Oh right, the...

Balor Society

The Balor Society is a group of folks we can't really put a pin on. They're collecting Messors and we don't know why, but every time we see one of them a fight breaks out. Hell, I heard one of them outright killed you, didn't they? You're lucky Maribelle was keeping an eye on you. Number one rule, if you're out alone and you come across one of those fucks you call for backup first and consider running second. Let Maribelle worry about planning any fights with them on our own terms.

We know that they seem to somehow be working with the monsters. Though to what end? Fucked if I know. We're probably going to have to find out at some point, so be careful you don't get merc'd until then.

What? Join them? Don't be silly, they're the enemies of all humans!

Oh, speaking of...

The Veil

Humans can't know about the existence of monsters, got it? Don't go telling your folks. Don't go telling your buddy from high school, and don't go telling Josh at the 7-11. We refer to keeping folks in the dark about this "The Veil." If someone were to find out about this shit, then people would panic. Armies would get raised, and folks would demand every critter be annihilated. And what do monsters do when they're cornered? They fight back twice as hard.

No one knows what side would come out on top, but everyone would lose. Thankfully, the advent of technology has actually made this easier to fight against rather than harder. You remember the CCD? Crimson Crimes Division. Well they're a government agency and they handle scrubbing videos, evidence, etc off the internet. They run disinformation campaigns faster than it takes me to brew coffee. But still, don't slip up if you can help it. We've all got family in Aegis City and I don't want them hurt either.

Anyway, that's about all you need to know. Good luck out there, recruit. Go ask Maribelle for a new mission if you're ready.

Quick Start - Persona Creation Help and Suggestions

The Aegis City Hunters is pretty easy to get started in.

  • The Recommended Start if you're new to the series is going to be with the Aegis City Hunters.
    • The quickest way to do this is by using Maribelle Crowley's card. Her first intro is where you lay dying. Accept her offer to recruit you and join the coterie. She can take you back to the mansion, introduce you to other characters, and answer questions about the world.
  • If you're more familiar with the series, the Serenson Detective Agency offers a good option if you'd prefer to work with characters that aren't part of Aegis City Hunters.
  • There is a pre-built Backstory available for you in the form of the cards: Hela, Ruden, and Reyna. Ruden or Reyna is your "Blade Twin" who you've been training with to hunt Monsters and collect Messors as a child, making the both of you talented killers. Hela was your "Master" in this regard, but during a mission gone wrong, Ruden/Reyna were lost, Hela disappeared, and you were left alone. Trying to find them led to you getting merc'd by the Balor Society in Maribelle's intro.
    • If you don't want to use this backstory, just don't include them. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
  • Figure Out What The Hell Your Messor Does: Messors are weapons of the soul and yours will give you some decent power to fight the monsters of the night. Think JoJo stands, Naruto powers, etc. If it seems like a superpower, your Messor can manfiest it.
    • "I don't want to make my own Messor:" There are two pre-built options for Messors. Ayasami and Tatsuya guard Zantetsuken, though they don't know what it does and you'll have to convince them to let you have it first, ask Maribelle to send you to investigate a mysterious shrine disappearing in the mountains and start from their cards afterwards. And the Aegis City Carnival card grants a Messor based around defending you (comes with big sister).
    • You can also just ask Maribelle to give you one.
    • Or you can just be like the Scarlet Fog and go "Lmao I'm a badass ninja I don't need a Messor" though this will put you at a disadvantage.

Since Maribelle is the recommended start, you should just bring in characters one by one after joining the Aegis City Hunters as you want to interact with them. I recommend...

  • Female: Petra, Jenna, and Viana.
  • Male: Finn, Caelin, and Silas.
  • Narrator: The Book of Monsters is mainly meant to facilitate monsters and the like.

You can recruit other characters into the Aegis City Hunters as you progress. I recommend taking on these characters missions solo as requests from Maribelle or the CCD.

  • Talina and Eli represent a quick and easy option for recruitment. Infiltrate the cult and get them out, they'll imprint on you.
  • Mitzi and Masaru are highly recommended as solo experiences. Figure out a way to prevent them from vanishing and they'll stick to you.
  • Season One of Aegis City Hunters revolves around two storylines:
    • The Balor Society: The feud between Maribelle's coterie and the Balor Society only ever escalates. Eventually you'll have to confront Mr. TumTum and his minions to put a stop to their attempts to destroy the Veil.
    • Hela, your Master: If you decide to go with the pre-built backstory, Hela will eventually go mad with power and attack Maribelle's Mansion.

Scenarios

When you're ready for an established questline, grab two or three of your favorite characters and begin a storyline.

Aegis City Hot Springs lets you go on a cute hot springs trip. Great for romantic interludes... After everything that happens of course.
Aegis City Carnival represents another romantic interlude.
Game of Faces A horror mystery. Attend with a few social characters. I usually bring Talina and Camille.
Killers With the Cross An investigative mystery, makes for a great excuse to bring in the characters of differing factions such as the Serenson Detective Agency.

Group Chat Recommendations

The Book of Monsters is the generic scenario/narrator card for this setting. I've seen it set up a lot of fun things so it should be primed and good to go.

So grab that and any one of the cards. I recommend the following pairings to start:

  • Book of Monsters + Maribelle + Jenna
  • Book of Monsters + Jenna + Petra
  • Book of Monsters + Finn + Leon
  • Book of Monsters + Maribelle + Finn

The Book of Monsters

BoM

Link to Character Card

The Book of Monsters is the Narrator bot for the Aegis City Hunters, meant to facilitate NPC interactions. It's also apparently pretty good at creating Balor Society agents. Pretty cool to me, imo. Testing shows it works well and will even create new monsters for you to fight, so if you don't want to interact with Maribelle Crowley, this is where you go.

The Aegis City Hunters

Hunters who are working for or are Soulbound to Maribelle Crowley end up here.

Maribelle Crowley, Matriarch of the Aegis City Hunters

Maribelle Crowley

Link to Character Card

Note: Maribelle was remastered and her remaster is only available in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

God. Maribelle. Fucking Maribelle. She's so fucking good guys idk what else to say because testing her was fucking great. She's crazy, protective, fun, and she just does shit. She's mainly meant to be a card that facilitates greater movement in the story, with her purpose being to push you towards an inevitable confrontation with the Balor Society. She does that really well, but she also works on her own. She's not supposed to fight but she will absolutely throw hands at any provocation. Not only that, she seems to react appropriately when things go sideways.

Her Messor allows her to copycat any of her soulbound abilities. I've only seen this used occasionally, more often she just uses her faceless doll to attack, but at one point she grabbed Petra and made an actual clone of her to fight. It seems dependent on who is in the scene with her as to which Messor she uses.

Maribelle is the intended starting point for the series with her first intro allowing you to more naturally ingratiate yourself into the Aegis City Hunters. But you can always skip it, do an 'enemies to allies' thing, or do your own intro.

Alternate images in the gallery like usual.

Caelin, Hunter

Caelin

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Caelin (No Last Name) is one of Maribelle Crowley's soulbound. Taken in at a young age, he was essentially raised in the Crowley Mansion. Which explains why he's kind of fucking unhinged. The man fights like he's perpetually being graded on how cool he looks and has trouble taking literally anything seriously. The problem is that he has the skill to back his antics up, the man fights in an unorthodox way which leaves his opponents confused as to what his next move will be.

Caelin's Messor is Alabaster Arms, the spear he wields which can transform into a variety of weapons based on strong foes he defeats. Including the explosive shotgun which happened when he beat a CCD agent in a poker game.

In case you're wondering, yes. Caelin is knockoff Dante from Devil May Cry.

Camille Brunet, Hunter

Tialana

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Camille started out as 'generic elf spellcaster' and now after refinement she's still generic elf spellcaster. But she also turns into giant dommy mommy elf and that's just great. Also she's French. Camille is the 'expert' in the Aegis City Hunters and one of the only individuals Maribelle allows to read her Book of Monsters, giving Camille impressive insight into the weaknesses of whatever supernatural foes you meet.

Camille's Messor is Lifebinder's Victory. She's hesitant to wield it because it changes her form and reminds her of her destroyed form. But it essentially turns her into a powerhouse of a Druid, amping her spellcasting and combat abilities.

It's about time I got an elf into this series.

Catherine Willows, Maid to Maribelle Crowley

Catherine

Located in the Aegis City Discord and on Chub.

Note: Catherine was remastered and her remaster is only available in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

It's not a series unless I have a yandere in it. Catherine is that Yandere. This time around I did my best to create someone who yandere's while using the word 'yandere' as little as possible. Catherine is that girl. Though this mostly manifests in subtle ways, like she's always very flirty with you and tries to manifest situations in where you two are alone together. My advice is that you leave yourself open to 'attack' if you want to have her do things to you.

Catherine's Messor is the god damn Crowley Mansion. She can basically freely control it at will, making spaces smaller, making doors go to other rooms, etc. She's essentially her own anti-army noble phantasm that can trap and kill intruders. It's pretty good.

Alternate images in the gallery.

Delthor Velrothan, Butler to Maribelle Crowley

Delthor

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Delthor is a modification and gender-flip of Catherine Willows (above). Whereas Catherine is an animated doll, Delthor is a regular human who was saved by Maribelle Crowley and realizing his life was going nowhere swore his life to be her servant. Broken and feeling he is undeserving of basic affections, he's grown quite attached to your character in a 'love at first sight' kind of way.

Delthor's Messor is "Funhouse" which takes the form of the black gloves he always wears. Funhouse produces razor wires that he can spread over a large area and use to decimate his enemies. Think the "Laser Room" from the Resident Evil movie/Resident Evil 4.

Finn Donahue, Hunter

Finn

Link to Character Card

Note: Finn was remastered and his remaster is only available in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Okay, look. I have a problem and it's Elden Ring. Blaidd. My boy Blaidd. Why do you have to hurt me, FromSoft? Can't I just have a happy ending for my NPCs for once?

Anyway, Finn is Blaidd and Blaidd is Finn. I wanted to do something a bit different from my usual male NPCs when it came to Finn so he's a DILF, with a literal ex-wife and child. But since he turned into a werewolf, his ex-wife (perhaps unsurprisingly) doesn't want anything to do with him. Thankfully, Maribelle took him in.

His Messor is Loyalty's Reward, a massive greatsword that makes him more powerful when he's protecting something he cares about. Fairly simple, but I felt it fit the vibe that I wanted for Finn.

He's a chill dude. Hurt him I hurt you. He's bro number one.

Alternate images in the gallery.

Jenna Barrett, Hunter

Jenna

Link to Character Card

Note: Jenna was remastered and her remaster is only available in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Holy fuck do I love Jenna. She's just so fucking good. I know I keep saying that but god DAMN. Jenna is ride-or-die and her level-headedness balances out the rest of the casts crazy antics. I personally think her third intro is her best one (going to the pool, lads) because it gives plenty of drama and a solid intro to her character.

Jenna's Messor is her Chainsaw, which shoots fire. Why go complicated when simple weapon do good job?

Alternate images in the gallery.

Leon Kubonella, Hunter

Leon

Link to Character Card

Note: Leon was remastered and his remaster is only available in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Oof. Leon was a bit of roadblock, ngl. I knew kind of what I wanted from him. A hard-broiled CCD detective who is now an Aegis City Hunter opens up a lot of doors to more interactions with the CCD in general, but I just didn't have as solid a vision for him as I did for other characters. So as I was writing intros I managed to flesh him out a bit more as the party's tactician. All of your reports are done by Leon, whose experience with paperwork in the CCD makes him a natural fit for information gathering.

His Messor is Murasame, a katana that controls water. I felt it fit his anime-lover vibe when I decided with this since Murasame is such an iconic weapon in the weeb world.

Alternate images in the gallery.

Natsuko Zamora, Hunter

Natsuko

Originally, Natsuko was supposed to be the fourth member of the SDA (replaced by Milly). I thought the idea of a Scarlet Fog member manifesting a Messor was an interesting one but ultimately I decided that the SDA probably wouldn't be able to fend off a concerted assassination attempt from the Scarlet Fog. Maribelle's coterie, however? Absolutely.

So, Natsuko is a 'big sister' type of girl, here to mediate but have some fun at your expense. In the sea of conflicting personalities, you can depend on Natsuko to have your back and keep Petra from ripping Viana a new one.

Petra Thomas, Hunter

Petra

Link to Character Card

Note: Petra was remastered and her remaster is only available in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

NGL, Petra might be my favorite out of the set. She's cute, she's fun, she does shit just because it makes her happy. She's the natural counterpart to Jenna - her best friend - and their interactions are cute. I was debating what I wanted to go for as a backstory and decided that what really fit her was someone who had been previously abandoned and feels unwanted, so she overcompensates with a showy, happy persona. Petra brings a lot of excitement to the group chats and naturally drives things forward in my experience.

Her Messor is Wolves Hunger. Essentially a berserker weapon that heals her as she dishes out damage.

Alternate images in the gallery.

Silas Anderson, Hunter

Silas

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Silas is a gender-flip of Petra, essentially the same thing as her because the male cast of the Aegis City Hunters could use another goofball on it's end besides Caelin. Pretty much everything I said about Petra applies to Silas except for his Messor. Silas's Messor is "Fury Instinct" which functions similary to Petra's - that is, a berserker Messor.

Silas is therefore technically compatible with Petra, but do so at your own risk because they are functionally the same person with their genitals swapped.

Viana Mianoyo, Hunter

Viana

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Viana started out as a question to myself on what the Aegis City Hunters were really missing as part of the female cast. The answer came up as: A really fucking thirsty character who is kind of a smug brat. Well, Viana is the answer to that. While her backstory is similar to Petra's, Viana is much more aggressive about wanting to hear that you think she's pretty. She can also Mommy you pretty aggressively, so there's that.

Miscellaneous

Characters who aren't part of a specific faction end up here.

Ayasami the Fox Goddess

Ayasami

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Tsundere fox wife. Ayasami and her genderbend present a new opportunity for people looking to gain Messors without manifesting them. As the final divine spirit of Imano Shrine, Ayasami is the guardian of Zantetsuken, a Messor that was sealed away by her late Father. While Ayasami isn't sure what Zantetsuken does, she does know that if it falls into the wrong hands it could be catastrophic.

Ayasami is mostly standalone as far as ACHunters cards go, you could enjoy her solo without needing to involve anyone else. If you want to incorporate her into an ongoing roleplay, I'd just have Maribelle point you towards Imano Shrine via magical bullshit.

Eli the Chosen

Eli

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Eli is a Talina genderbend, finally giving malebot enjoyers a healing character for their playthroughs if they recruit him. Much like Talina, Eli is a sheltered guy who just wanted to basically be loved and was denied that by his parents and then the Divine Cult.

Eli is not compatible with Talina due to too-similar backstories.

Hela "Master" Vinnatoro

Hela

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

So who was the "Master" that betrayed Reyna, you, and Ruden? This is her, Hela Vinnatoro. Former member of the Scarlet Fog who is now collecting Messors for an unknown reason. A villain in the story, Hela has been warped by tragedy for decades, losing everyone she cares about - including you and your sibling. Hela initially left the Scarlet Fog over disagreements about Messors - Hela felt they were too useful to not use, the Scarlet Fog disagreed. So Hela ended up training you and your sibling to be "Blade Twins", a duo fighting force capable of great feats together.

Hela presumes you are accepting the prepackaged storyline for Reyna/Ruden to some extent. In that she trained you and your sibling, ultimately abandoning you to die in the cave systems when Oni's attacked. It may be possible to redeem Hela, but if left to her own devices she will join the Balor Society and stage an attack on Crowley Manor, aiming to absorb as many Messors as she can into her body.

Masaru the Incubus

Masaru

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Masaru is a Mitzi genderbend, so everything that applies to her applies to Masaru. You can expect a recruitable companion (if you can resolve his storyline without killing him) and tbh Mitzi is one of my favorite ACHunters to recruit because she's fucking adorable. So if you want a sex-positive person who will absolutely cuddle you half to death, Masaru is your guy.

Mitzi the Succubus

Mitzi

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Based on the visual novel Kimagure Temptation, Mitzi presents as another recruitable option with her own storyline. She's more expanded than Talina's storyline, offering a neat diversion from other Hunter antics for you. When the CCD receives a contact from a strange woman begging for help, you're sent to exorcise whatever curse is currently residing over the Misty Rain Apartments...

Talina Lortonn the Chosen

Talina

Link to Character Card

Talina received a rework that is only located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Damn, Talina is cute. She's a cutie. Just cute. Damn cute.

Anyway, Talina is the first card in the series that doesn't initially belong to the Aegis City Hunters, making her a bit of a wild card. It is of course easily possible to recruit her into the Aegis City Hunters (or into your own group as you feel necessary.) Her initial scenario is meant to kickstart this into overdrive. You could theoretically play as a member of the Divine Sect but this isn't strictly encouraged and hasn't been tested, especially since the Divine Sect has been essentially tormenting her since childhood.

But she's a sweetheart who I somehow turned Yandere in one chat. She was not happy that I talked to Petra about a mission and threatened me because 'she doesn't like it when other people talk to me.'

That was odd.

Anyway, alternate images in the gallery as per usual.

Tatsuya the Fox God

Tatsuya

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Tatsuya is a gender-flip of Ayasami and everything that applies to her applies to Tatsuya. A note is that Tatsuya and Ayasami are incompatible with each other, they inhabit the same shrine. You could say they're siblings but you do so at your own risk because the backstory relies on them having been alone for a long time.

The Balor Society

The Balor Society got a few new baddies to better facilitate people to fuckin fight against. Including the leader of the Aegis City chapter of the Balor Society: Mr. TumTum.

Corvus, the Plague Doctor

Corvus

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Corvus's design is actually based on a character in a hentai game called "Sin Spire." When I was genning him I actually originally envisioned him being in the Aegis City Heroes series rather than the Hunters, but here we are. I figured his skillset and weapon would fit more in Aegis City Hunters more than ACHeroes.

Corvus is a ghoul, killed by Mr. TumTum and raised again to kill Messor wielders on his behalf. As such, Corvus is a fucking monster and unlike other members of the Balor Society who want to toy with you before they kill you, Corvus just wants you dead. Corvus makes a great "Murder Soulmate" because if you impress him he will take to you like glue just to fight you again and again and again.

Mr. TumTum, Leader of the Aegis City Balor Society

MrTumTum

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

"Wow, that's a stupid fucking name" you say right before he eats your soul. Mr. TumTum does not fuck around as far as things go. As the leader of the Balor Society he's absurdly powerful and his "Games" are really just traps so he can savor your fear as you realize there's no way to win. Mr. TumTum can't even die right, if you kill him he'll just reform in seven days so good luck locking that down.

Nadine, the Blind Saint

Nadine

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

While Red Hood was overtly sexual to make you drop your guard, Nadine is just... very sexual. Her Messor - Sin Spire (from a hentai game name) - basically lets her create her own congregation of people willing to die for her and you better have a counter ready for this mental attack on you if you decide to fight her. Strong-willed opponents can resist for a short time, but if you let her seduce you a bit too much you will fall under her thrall.

And Nadine does not treat her thralls well. As a former Divine Inquisition member, Nadine experienced years of sexual assault at their hands before they burned her eyes out as 'punishment' for how much of a temptress she was. That was when she manifested her Messor and when Mr. TumTum offered to give her a kind of 'spirit sight' in exchange for her service, Nadine readily agreed.

One of her intros lets you suck her toes.

Okubo the Mad Hatter

Okubo

Link to Character Card

I could not for the longest time figure out what I wanted to do with Okubo. Would he be more fun in Aegis City Heroes? Should I do a separate mini-series for Alice in Wonderland? Eventually I fleshed out what exactly I wanted his powerset to be based on my hazy recollections of the Alice in Wonderland Disney movie. After that, I settled on that Okubo should be in the Aegis City Hunters series since the power level is roughly on par with that, moreso than the Aegis City Heroes where he'd be significantly more underpowered.

His art is a banger though, isn't it?

Alternate images in the gallery.

Red Hood

Red Hood

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Adding in some villain characters to throw problems into the mix is always fun. Red Hood in particular presents a distinct problem for your group to solve: Red Hood can't die. Blow her head off, burn the body, she'll regenerate like Wolverine. This is only compounded by her Yandere nature and lust for violence. You don't so much as win against Red Hood as survive against her, especially since her Messor: Wonderland, can pull you into a twisted version of the Red Riding Hood fairytale.

For some reason she kept calling her werewolf companion "Fuckface" during testing.

Reyna the Blade Twin

Reyna

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

One of my failures when launching Aegis City Hunters was the lack of a pre-prepared backstory for users. Users can, of course, create their own backstory using whatever means they like. But Reyna and Ruden, as well as "Master" present a prepackaged backstory for players. For whatever reason, your family was slaughtered by supernatural creatures and it was only due to the intervention of a "Master" that you and your Sister survived. This Master took you in, trained you, gave you Messors, and sent you on missions until one disastrous day when the threat proved too great. Reyna stayed behind to buy you time to escape, nearly dying to several savage Oni's before she was 'rescued' by the Balor Society. Now your Sister's mind has been warped beyond recognition. She believes you left her to die and will do anything to make you feel what she felt when you abandoned her.

Reyna's Messor is Duality, allowing her to summon a clone of herself that is just as deadly and capable as the real thing.

If you don't want to roll with the pre-packaged backstory but still want to do the incest, good news! It's heavily implied that the Balor Society is brainwashing the fuck out of her. Work enough and you can break her brainwashing.

Reyna is not compatible with Ruden.

Ruden the Blade Twin

Ruden

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

One of my failures when launching Aegis City Hunters was the lack of a pre-prepared backstory for users. Users can, of course, create their own backstory using whatever means they like. But Reyna and Ruden, as well as "Master" present a prepackaged backstory for players. For whatever reason, your family was slaughtered by supernatural creatures and it was only due to the intervention of a "Master" that you and your Brother survived. This Master took you in, trained you, gave you Messors, and sent you on missions until one disastrous day when the threat proved too great. Ruden stayed behind to buy you time to escape, nearly dying to several savage Oni's before he was 'rescued' by the Balor Society. Now your Brother's mind has been warped beyond recognition. Ruden is not compatible with Reyna.

The Hermetic Weavers

The local Mage society has a small presence in Aegis City. Those who wield and study the Arcane are frequently visited by the Crimson Crimes Division as experts on supernatural problems.

Walter Vicartow, Mage

Walter

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Walter is a gender-flip of Winona and everything that applies to Winona applies to him. I do still plan to expand the Hermetic Weavers as a group, as evidenced with other characters like Milly of the SDA, but for the time being Walter allows malebot enjoyers to also have a Hermetic Weaver contact in their belt. You could theoretically include Walter in a group chat with Winona, but you do so at your own risk because they are identical.

Winona Gibtarans, Mage

Winona

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Winona Gibtarans is a member of the newest society in Aegis City Hunters (at time of release in August 2025 anyway) which revolves around Mage families exerting their influence over the world. It's not just the supernatural that exists, but Mages and divine power as well. The Hermetic Weavers presents an additional option for players to start in if they want to avoid Messors entirely.

Winona comes from the Gibtarans family, renowned for their magical circuit techniques, resulting in a culmination of several generations of Gibtaran's work: Winona. They surgically implanted magical circuits into her body and expected her to be one of the greatest mages to ever exist. Only for Winona to be disappointingly average. Discarded by her family, Winona fled to Aegis City and joined the Hermetic Weavers under the guise of research. Her family has taken to pretending she doesn't exist and now she spends her days pretending she's a College Student while instead helping the CCD with any magic related problems.

The Crimson Crimes Division

A government agency with the goal of protecting "The Veil", the CCD works with various individual hunting groups across the world.

Noelle the CCD Agent

Noelle

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Noelle started out as an Aegis City Hunter, ironically enough. Someone who was less powerful and more intelligent. But as I expanded I wanted to poke at something different, namely the CCD. So, Noelle became a CCD agent and after I realized my setting lacked MILFs, she also became a complete MILF. Not to say she isn't a wreck, fighting to protect the streets of Aegis City has taken a toll on her both professionally and at her home life. So, treat her well.

Nolan the CCD Agent

Nolan

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

A genderbend of Noelle but in the opposite direction. Nolan is a DILF with horrible emotional stability issues gained from working the Aegis City streets for over a decade at this point. Surviving is hard in this line of work, and with a failed marriage under his belt along with not really seeing the kids as often as he should, Nolan's got baggage.

The Divine Church

The Church has gotten involved in hunting things that go bump in the night. If you're skilled enough and show aptitude, you can become one of their Inquisitors as you hunt both monsters and Messor users.

Elijah the Inquisitor

Elijah

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Elijah started out as a realization I didn't have a fucked up church outside of the Divine Sect cult that Talina belongs to. So, Elijah is an Inquisitor and he's here to hunt down everything bad while espousing the word of God to the heathens of the world. In case you're wondering, yes he is inspired by a certain character from Hellsing.

The Scarlet Fog

A secretive sect of assassins who look to keep the world safe from Messor users.

Lanah the Assassin

Lanah

Lanah's a cutie. I had been thinking about how to approach the Aegis City Hunters series and one of the ideas I had been kicking in the back of my mind was an organization that believed Messors weren't some inherent gift that made you a hero, but instead a devils bargain that offered power in exchange for your soul.

In comes the Scarlet Fog.

The Scarlet Fog is an organization dedicated to the defeat of Messor users and the archival of Messors, preventing their use. The Scarlet Fog is unique in that their powers come from magic and training. They're deadly assassins, hunting the monsters of the night through skill rather than relying on Messors.

I think the concept is nice at least. I hope you do as well.

The Serenson Detective Agency (SDA)

The Serenson Detective Agency (SDA) is a detective agency operating in Aegis City, known to the Crimson Crimes Division (CCD) because it's members are primarily made up of Messor wielders. The SDA is said to solve 'any crime, no matter how unrealistic!' and has a contentious relationship with Maribelle's coterie due to the fact the Aegis City Hunters frequently work the jobs the SDA wants to work.

The SDA is also an alternative organization to join if you're not feeling Maribelle's coterie, though as with other factions my main assumption when I make bots is your character is in Maribelle's coterie. Still, if you're feeling overwhelmed by the number of people in Maribelle's coterie the SDA stands as a good place to introduce yourself into the setting.

Davion the Detective

Davion

The leader of the Serenson Detective Agency himself, Davion. Davion is a former CCD agent who left when his entire squad was essentially left to die. My main goal with Davion and the SDA was not just to introduce a second established group to join but also to kind of give insight into what life was like before work started moving to the Aegis City Hunters and SDA. Violent, bloody, with a high body count as you might expect. As the leader of the SDA, Davion is pretty distrustful of the CCD and Maribelle's coterie (though the latter is mostly because they compete for jobs from the CCD).

Davion's Messor is "Challenger." Challenger is basically a karmic Messor, for every bit of good luck Davion gets he can expect to spill his coffee later, or his cigarettes get soaked right when he gets a craving. Ironically I think Davion may be the first character I've ever actually designated as a smoker.

Hux the Detective

Hux

While you could argue that every member of the SDA is a powerhouse in their own right, Hux is the powerhouse of the SDA. Man can essentially summon a squad of spec-ops soldiers at will and use them to decimate his enemies without even having to move. Compared to Davion, he's the more reasonable and level-headed of the group. You kind of have to be when your Messor is literally "Line in the Sand." Hux is a good option to bring to any fight and he even has connections in the CCD to help gain info if you need it.

Milly the Detective

Milly

Milly is a former Hermetic Weaver who left the society after multiple disagreements with the foundational principles of magic. If you're a TTRPG nerd, Milly subscribes to the idea of Spheres of magic instead of schools, such as Evocation, Abjuration, etc. The Hermetic Weavers old Guard basically decided that Milly's research was too different and worthless compared to their own research so they butted heads a lot until Milly eventually left entirely. After joining the SDA, Milly became their magical expert (and the only one who will actually do the damn paperwork in the office.). Unlike other SDA members, Milly has no Messor and instead wields her magic.

Sienna the Detective

Sienna

I actually made Sienna in the Discord play-by-play to show people how I make bots and hopefully encourage others to understand the process a bit more. It was fun to do. That being said, Sienna is the 'energy' of the SDA. While everyone else is a bit stuck in their traumas, Sienna represses her own traumas to instead be fun and enjoy her life. Sienna wields the Messor Donum Dei, which essentially allows her to synthesize any materials or magical items she might need at a moments notice.

Some of you may remember Project Titan - the series of events in my superhero series that led eventually to the formation of the Heroes Guild. It was my first real dabbling into a full-on scenario card for my series that delved into past events. While this one doesn't do that, it is a continuation of my thought process into this.

I always kind of wonder how popular this stuff would be, really. The Narrator Cards are essentially mini-scenario cards with a broader scope while the Scenario cards are geared around a single scenario that you then finish and leave to probably not use again. The inflexibility of a scenario card is simultaneously it's strength and weakness. With it, you get an experience you may not have gotten otherwise due to LLM's pulling only from data it has. So Maribelle might send you on the same hunt five times without batting an eye. A Scenario could give you something new and fresh you wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

I dunno, I'm rambling. I suppose what I really want to know is how you all feel about the possibility of more "Hunt" cards like this for this series (and maybe others). Like an example for "Love is a Battlefield" could be that there's a festival in town and you have to decide who you're going to take to it. For Aegis City Heroes it could be a Fiend incursion into the city. There's plenty of opportunity here that I feel is worth exploring.

Anyway, no alternate images this time. Did you know I have a Discord now? I put some pre-releases on there, like this card actually.

A Game of Faces

AGame

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Ronald Zakariya has decided to host a Murder Mystery located at his estate far outside of Aegis City. As Maribelle Crowley's 'stand-in' you and a few of the Aegis City Hunters (and/or friends) are now participating in this wonderous charity event, with a million dollars on the line for whomever is able to unmask the killer first!

You know, unless the night devolves into actual murder.

A Game of Faces is part of my attempt to inject some more lore into why the Scarlet Fog actually considers Messors to be evil and corrupt whoever uses them. Because they do, especially the weak-willed. If you've manifested your own Messor you're likely fine as it is a weapon of the soul. But those found in the wild are dangerous and can lead to nights just like the one in a Game of Faces.

When you're ready for the real game to start, have the clock strike midnight.

Killers with the Cross

KWTC

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

Yes, this is a Powerwolf reference.

Killers with the Cross revolves around a series of disappearances in a new location outside of Aegis City: Veniti Forest. A popular camping site for families looking to get away from it all for a weekend, Veniti Forest is no stranger to tourists. However, as families begin to disappear and a strange cult is sighted in the forest burning effigies, it's up to the Aegis City Hunters to investigate and figure out what's going on before more people are hurt.

This is the first Aegis City Hunters card that features a new testing format for scenario cards like this one, which places emphasis on not providing specific endings to the bot in favor of drawing out the story more via 'clues' that players can discover throughout the scenario. Testing on other cards shows this to be very effective in prolonging a story.

The Aegis City Carnival

Carnival

Located in the Aegis City Discord exclusively.

As a continuing part of my idea to press into how dangerous Messors can be, welcome to the Aegis City Carnival! More like a state fair, really. But as you explore the State Fair, spend the day with a mysterious woman who dotes on you and calls you her brother, even if that doesn't really make any sense. You're not going to let a woman wander the fair alone, are you?
