"Šuri" means "Star". It is a Purí word. If I get one person picking on me for using the š instead of ch like it is in Portuguese I will commit a murder. It's my name; I get to pick which spelling(s) I prefer.

That being said, I don't mind being called "Churi" either. Nor do I care all that much if you drop the accent and just call me "Suri". They're all pronounced the same way anyways:

SHOO (like shoe) - ree (flip the r if possible). Yes I know "Churi" doesn't look like it would be pronounced like that but that's how it is in Portuguese. Thanks guys.

Also―while Šuri is a Purí word, I have no qualms against people who aren't of Purí descent saying it. It's my name; I welcome you to call me by it. However, I ask that you please respect indigenous people who do not want you to say names from their cultures.
