How To Autotune Vocaloid Using SynthV And Utaformatix

A Basic Tutorial By ROMHACKD

Getting Started

For this tutorial all you'll really need is Synthesizer V Basic and Vocaloid 4. I'm sure you can use other versions of Vocaloid or different synths entirely but SynthV Basic 1.8.1 is a requirement. All downloads should be in the description of the video you came from. This is a simple way to "autotune" Vocaloid projects if you're too lazy to tune or need something super quick. This is a method I randomly came up with while messing with Utaformatix and decided to share.

Basic Tutorial

  • make sure ur using synthv basic 1.8.1, it should be linked in the video description. newer versions of synthv basic get rid of the ability to add "instant mode" to ur tracks
  • open synthesizer v basic, import your midi/vsqx/ust/etc and choose ur vocalist
i usually use tsurumaki maki, her voice isn't as powerful so her autotuning doesn't overpower the vocaloid engine
  • once u do that, click "instant mode" and let it load. it will autotune ur synthv track for u. after that hit instant mode again and let it load, that way it saves the parameters.
  • after that, save the svp and close out of synthv. open up the utaformatix website and choose "vsqx" (or whatever file extension u need for the software ur using). make sure the switch that says "convert pitch parameters" is flipped on so that it converts the synthv tuning to the new file. then hit "next" and it should start processing. this usually doesn't take too long.
  • download the file, close out utaformatix and open up vocaloid (or the software of your choice). open the new file inside of vocaloid, add the voicebank of ur choice, and check the "pitch bend" parameter section. make sure it shows a bunch of waves, if it looks flat u probably messed up a step.
  • it should work now!! that's pretty much it.
