/emugen/ Pokémon Scarlet-Violet Emulation General

OP template at the bottom

Emulator

There are only two options. Ryujinx and Yuzu. As of right now, Ryujinx works the best. Yuzu might work better for low end hardware when it reaches a good compatibility level.

Ryujinx LDN (for Multiplayer)

Yuzu

Files

You will need to get the necessary files to run the emulators, like the firmwares and keys. You can use RyuSAK or manually download them.

ROMs

Choose between weird red dog with useless wheels or cool mecha. I recommend the use of the magnets. If you don't know how to use them, you just need to copy them and then open a torrent client (qbittorrent), select add link and paste that in there.
Pokemon Scarlet/Violet
Torrents recommended.

Trade with yourself!

If you want to trade a Pokémon to evolve it, you can open two instances of PKHeX and drag and drop any Pokémon you need to evolve, PKHeX will handle it, or you can set it to be his evolution.
Alternatively, if you want to do it in-game, you could use the LDN build of Ryujinx. Just open it twice (you can use the same save) and connect to yourself cresting a code.

I am experiencing X issue

Right now, the most compatible emulator is Ryujinx. Use the latest official build for best results, but maybe one issue has already been fixed on a pull request, so check https://github.com/Ryujinx/Ryujinx/pulls.
The following settings are the recommended for the most compatibility. Don't enable "Use alternative memory layout (Developers)" as it causes instat crash:

  • Input
    Enable Docked Mode - On
  • System
Enable VSync - Off. Then cap the FPS with the nVidia/AMD control panel to 30. If it caps the FPS to 30, then leave it on. Some users caps it at their vsync (60, 120, 144 etc), but for others, when you turn it on, it gets capped at 30 (my case).
Use alternative memory layout (Developers) - Off
  • Graphics
    Graphics Backend Multithreading: Auto
    Shader Backend: Vulkan
    Enable Shader Cache: On
Resolution Scale: 2x or more (target 30 fps, if you can't get 30 on native, don't set the scale up. If you get past 30, try higher scaling for improved aliasing).

Docked mode will run the game at 1080, alongside better draw distance and other things. If you set the scaling to x2 or higher, it will look better on the aliasing side, even on displays running at 1080p. If your GPU can handle it, it is highly recommended to set it as high as possible, just try to maintain 30 fps. If your GPU can handle docked but not docked x2, try handheld x2, that should yield a 1440p resolution.

Joy-con drift

If you're experiencing joy-con drift/can't pass the hide and seek portion then go to settings and set the joy-con dead zone from 0.05 to 0.20, higher if it still doesn't work.

Mods

Expect Gen 6-8 level of mods, like difficulty and reshader mods, and some (probably lewd) models/texture enhancers, as well as music/sound.

Cheats

Some cheats don't work on emulator, or they have two versions, one for consoles and other for emulator. Check GBATemp's thread for updates.

1.1 update is being released.
Ryujinx LDN3.0.1 released! You can now easily trade with people using Ryujinx servers.
PKHeX has released! You can now edit your saves and don't need to trade with yourself to evolve certain 'mons. PKHeX can handle trade evolutions if you open two saves (you can open the same one twice).

50% FIFO is the best balancing. If it's too low, your CPU can be the bottleneck, if it's too high, your GPU could be. Consider upgrading if possible (other games would benefit as well). Otherwise, you can just wait for better performance.
Recommended settings for Ryujinx:
- Input
Enable Docked Mode - On
- System
Enable VSync - Off. Then cap the FPS with the nVidia/AMD control panel to 30. Leave it On if that caps it at 30.
Use alternative memory layout (Developers) - Off
- Graphics
Graphics Backend Multithreading: Auto
Shader Backend: Vulkan
Enable Shader Cache: On
Resolution Scale: 2x or more (target 30 fps, if you can't get 30 on native, don't set the scale up. If you get past 30, try higher scaling for improved aliasing).
>If you're experiencing joycon drift/ can't pass the hide and seek portion then go to settings and set the joycon dead zone to at least .20, higher if it still doesn't work
