Terms & Roles

Therapist: A therapist alter is an alter who acts like a therapist for members of the system. This tends to happen with a lack of good therapy or therapy at all, and can also occur when an alter needs support quickly.
Regressor: A regressor alter is a (typically) little alter who's role to is to front for another alter to mimic age/pet/etc. regression.
Bot: A bot alter is an alter that has a database of sorts of the system. It can be general system information, such as information about headspace locations, alters roles, relations, and activity, and other stuff. Usually unrelated to memories or trauma, but can also include that.
Proxy: Unlike a proxy for a proxy bot, a proxy alter is an alter who exists to speak on behalf of other alters. Typically these alters front to ease the stress of other alters
Warmonger: A warmonger is an alter who purposefully causes harm, internally and/or externally, knowing it's unhelpful. Warmongers usually don't accept help and can even be considered toxic and/or dangerous.
Camouflage: A camouflage alter is an alter that masks as other alters in the system, for good or for bad intent. These alters can also convince other system members that they are still fronting, on purpose or otherwise.
Mediator: A mediator alter is an alter who mediates a stressful situation unbiasedly and communicates things between the system/alter and the person/people the system is having issues with.
Knight: A knight alter is a type of protector who specifically protects friends and family outside of the system.
Void: A void alter is an alter that fronts when the host, or any other alter who has been fronting for a while/has been involved in a lot of stress while fronting. Void alters take the place of the stressed alter and are usually very quiet, or even nonverbal. They tend to partake in activities that calm down the body or the collective.
Bridge: A bridge alter is an alter than can switch when another alter is frontstuck to help get another alter to front, or if one alter has difficulty communicating with other system members.
Gofer: An alter with the role of gofer is an alter who has the job of assisting other alters with their jobs. They may be tasked with random misc things other alters need help with.
Destroyer: A destroyer alter is an alter that deletes any messages, or hides or destroys any evidence of something that could possibly put the system in danger. For example, if another alter sent messages that could potentially cause issues with the receiver of said messages, the destroyer alter may front to delete said messages, or maybe there is something in their room they will get punished for, the destroyer may front to hide or destroy whatever could endanger the system.
Recluse: A recluse alter is an alter who is tasked with keeping the system away from socialization for one reason or another, usually to protect the system.
Authority: An authority alter is an alter that typically makes decisions for the system when there is uncertainty. This can be when there is indecisiveness or differing opinions or big opinions to be made. It all depends.
Druid: A druid alter is an alter who is usually in charge of making sure the body gets outside. Druids usually make the system feel more happy, at ease, or just generally positive emotions when being outdoors and/or connecting with nature. The druid alter may also have a strong interest in nature and/or may know more about it, but that's not always the case.
Bard: A bard alter is similar to a druid alter, except with music. Bard alters make the system feel happy, at ease, or positive emotions by listening to or creating music. Bard alters may have a strong interest in music/may know more about it, but that isn't always the case.
Beloved: A beloved alter is an alter that often gives affection, joy and positive vibes to people within or outside of the system. This can be platonic, romantic, etc. A beloved alter often gives compliments and can be clingy, excitable, and optimistic.
Starlight: A starlight alter is an alter that is very in tune with spiritual or religious practices. They may be the only one in the system that practices any sort of spirituality/religion, or may just be the one who is best at it.
Cleaner: A cleaner alter is an alter whose job is to clean the space around them, which is often their living space. A cleaner may be annoyed or distressed by the mess around them, which makes them want to clean, but is not always the case.
First: A first aid is an alter who takes care of the body or other people close to the system when they are sick or injured.
First Responder: A first responder is an alter who is the first to front when there is conflict or distress, not necessarily to deal with the conflict, but to deescalate the situation before another alter comes to front to deal with the aftermath. This role sort of falls under a type of fronter, like host or co-host are types of fronters.
