Because the fandom wiki that had all of these shut down, we have decided to work on a list of roles, terminology, ect.

ROLES

MAJOR ROLES
Host

A host is the headmate who is most active, most responsible for day-to-day activities, or otherwise is fronting most often.

Co-host

Like a secondary host. May replace the host temporarily if the host does not want to front, and may replace the host's role if needed. Sort of like a vice president.

Persecutor / Corrupter

A persecutor is a headmate who acts harmfully towards other system members, the body, or to others.

Gatekeeper

A gatekeeper is a headmate who controls switching, access to certain areas inside the headspace, or access to certain system members or memories.

Floater

Floaters are headmates that tend to float between roles.

Architect/Builder

A type of gatekeeper that usually works on building the innerworld.

Fillers/Flexes

Alters that flex between roles as needed. Newer alters who don’t present with an immediate role use this one often because it helps them explore and find their role. Similar to floaters.

Autopilot

A system member who fronts when no one else can or wants to. They may perform basic tasks for the body and system, generally without feeling emotions.

Archivist

A headmate who is especially knowledgeable about events that happen to the system, both in the headspace and in the shared reality. They may also store and organize this information by using constructs in the headspace such as folders and files.

Timekeeper

A headmate that keeps track of time for the system and makes sure the system is where they need to be on time (work, school, meetings, hangouts, parties, etc...)

Substitute

A substitute is a headmate whose role is to act in place of another headmate(s). This can be temporarily copying the subject’s, acting in place for them, and/or pretending to be them.

Janusian

A system member who functions as both a protector and/or a persecutor depending on the situation.

Little

A little is a headmate that may hold age-regression like feelings, and is overall acts younger.


HOLDER ROLES
Symptom Holder

A symptom holder is a system member who holds symptoms of the body's neurodivergence, mental illness, etc.

Monarch

A type of emotion holder that holds emotions of control, dominance, ect. Monarchs might also front often, and be like a co-host.

Memory Holder

Memory Holders are system members that hold specific memories, which may not be easily accessible to other members. These memories may be about trauma, specific people, locations, or life stages.

Trauma Holder

A trauma holder is an alter in the system that holds traumatic memories or feelings that the body has gone through. They hold these memories so other alters do not have to.

Dysphoria Holder

A dysphoria holder is a headmate that holds all or most feelings of dysphoria so others do not have to experience the feeling.

Greif Holder

Grief holders hold feelings of grief so others in the system do not have to experience it.

Guilt Holder

An alter that holds feelings of guilt, or memories that make the system feel guilty, so other alters do not have to.

Negative Thought / Emotion Holder

An alter that holds negative thoughts, feelings, urges ect... These alters may also be corrupters.


PROTECTING / CARETAKING
Protector

A protector is a headmate whose role is to protect other members of the system from external harm, traumatic memories, harmful members of the system, or other threats.

Caregiver

Caregivers are headmates that take care of age-regressors and littles. They may also be soothers, or an internal caretaker.

Soother

A system member who calms or soothes other members who are dealing with negative emotions.

External Caretaker

A caretaker that specifically takes care of the body on the outside. They may take care of things such as hygiene, eating, just normal care tasks for the body.

Internal Caretaker

A caretaker that takes care of innerworld things, usually entails taking care of other alters on the inside. Sort of like the soother role but for inside.

Moodbooster

A moodbooster is a headmate who boosts the overall mood of the system. Commonly, they can be very cheerful.

Social Protector

Protectors that help the system get out of uncomfortable or bad social situations. Can present as assertiveness or as fawning.

TERMS
Innerworld / Headspace

A place in the body's mind where alters can interact.

Age Lock

An alter that is locked at their age for whatever reason.
