PCSX2 Setup
- Download the PCSX2 netplay pack and extract it to a folder you choose.
- Run pcsx2-online.exe. To set up your controller, click Config > Controllers (PAD) > Plugin Settings... > Pad 1. Click "Quick Setup" to easily bind your controller.
- Select the game you are playing by going to CDVD > ISO Browser > Browse... and select the .bin file of your game.
- Start Netplay by going to System > Boot Netplay.
- In the Netplay window you can either Connect (Join) or Host:
- To Connect, enter the IP provided to you by your opponent either via Radmin or direct IP in "Host Address" and the port in "Host Port". Click Connect.
- To Host, switch to the Host tab and select a port to host on (5000 works fine for most users).
- Uncheck "Apply Input Delay to clients only" for the netcode to work correctly.
- Check "Synchronize With Players" under the Memory Card box.
- See "HiDPI Hosting Issue" under Troubleshooting if you don't see the checkbox.
- Click Host.
- A Netplay window will appear with a chatbox and lobby member list. The Host will set your input delay: take your opponent's ping and divide the number by 33 then enter the number rounded up (i.e. 120ms divided by 33 is about 3.63, so you should set 4 Input Delay).
- To begin, the host must click Start. Play!
- If you see that the framerate is not consistently 60FPS and both players can play the game offline with no slowdown, increase the delay.
Troubleshooting
Note about performance
You should make sure the game you are trying to play runs at 60FPS consistently in offline play before attempting to play online. If you have increased the internal resolution of the emulator you may wish to leave it at native!
HiDPI Hosting Issue
If your screen is using HiDPI settings you may not be able to configure hosting netplay correctly. Fix this:
- Close any running instance of PCSX2. Right click pcsx2-online.exe and click "Properties".
- In the compatibility tab, click "Change High DPI Settings" at the botom.
- In the popup, check "Override High DPI scaling behavior." In the listbox below that, select "System" and click OK, then OK again. Start PCSX2 as normal.
