My rant on how much I hate caitvi. If you like it, I dont care! You can like whatever you want I just do not in anyway.
Before I start, I am not lesbiphobic or coming at it from a homophobic angle, we as a community need to stop accepting such awful representation as if it's good. I do understand representation is rare, but if we let this slide it will not get better. Also, sorry for grammar mistakes or if things are written not very orderly, I'm rushing this.

Why do I hate caitvi?
It's toxic (and written lazily). Not in a cool concept doomed yuri way, but in a way I genuinely don't know what they see in eachother or how it makes any sense. the writing in season 2, for most of Vi's storyline is utter dogshit and goes against key traits in her personality & character. Cait purposefully hurts her and her cause multiple times throughout the show and NEVER has to apologize for Vi to run back and accept her. I believe the whole sex scene was fanservice to all the caitvi shippers, why would Vi do that after self-harming, having a mental breakdown and watching her sister say shes going to kill herself? Has Vi not been fighting for Jinx this whole time??? Caitlyn doesn't care for Vi and it shows throughout the series. Using Vi in missions, not caring or taking into consideration what happened to Vi during her time in Stillwater and abusing her just as the guards would, kicking her in the place she knows is bandaged and wounded when they argue, breaking promises they both made, I could go on. I'll be citing videos that go into more detail at the bottom.
Not to mention the fact Vi completely agrees with gassing her own people, as though she has not been fighting for the undercity? The writers were clearly rushed in writing, so it's not just the characters themselves ruining this, but gosh they are an awful pairing. The line "I am the dirt under your fingernails, cupcake." is so disgusting!! It's a victim of manipulation and abuse admitting they are a victim, but it's romanticized?! I did like the trope in the first season, but it's clear it's changed for the worse in s2. I think its obvious I don't care for the way the two (Mostly Vi..) were written in season 2, but it does make the ship worse for wear in the end.

What do I think would make the ship work better?
Not having such a power imbalance. From the very start there has been a LARGE power imbalance on Caitlyn's side. She is a cop, daughter of one of the Council house's and she is well are of this imbalance. She legitimately takes advantage of it, multiple times! From the LITERAL START she has done so. She's a officer and in a respected house, even if Vi didn't want to help her, Caitlyn has the power to make her. I do not understand why we baby Caitlyn, she's a dictator throughout s2 and manipulates anyone she deems below her and literally cannot handle being wrong or admitting she is powerful. It all mainly comes back to how middle grounded the show is on the political spectrum, they don't want to "lean" on either side but it is obvious who they are appealing to with the Undercity, Stillwater and Topside simply existing. Despite there being no racism (from what I can tell, as all kinds of species are above and below), there is classism and it is so obvious. Not trying to say media cant explore these darker subjects, but you must do it right if you want to at all and I fear this has not been done well.

Besides picking up things on my own and forming my own opinion, I learnt things from others and would love to promote them & their videos. If you can check them out, I highly recommend giving them some of your time! ^_^
