Stay Dead: Trick or Threat 
A flash of green light hits you in the face just as a ghoulish laugh erupts with an excessive amount of reverb. You roll your eyes. You get why a restaurant would have effects like that in October, but why is it just outside of the bathrooms?
You walk out into the dining area where Jason and Sienna are waiting. You can't help but stop and smile at the sight of the two of them. Your sister, a mere sixth-grader, should have been at home. It should have been your best friend, JoJo, sitting there in her place. Unexpected illness reversed everything, so Sienna took JoJo's place. Luckily, JoJo's older brother, Jason, is in perfect health and seems happy to drive you and your sister around. He even humors Sienna while she teaches him the latest dance challenge moves.
You've always crushed on Jason but you feel yourself crushing on him way more.
"Ready?" you call to them.
They meet you at the restaurant exit.
"I bet we've missed all the candy!" Sienna whines.
"Sienna, you're the one who needed to use the bathroom!" you say. "Jason's idea to come here instead of waiting in that long line was perfect."
Jason grins. "I've been to four of these Candy Castle events now. They always have more candy than anybody can eat."
The three of you walk into the parking lot toward Jason's blue car.
"Hey, I have an idea!" Sienna beams and light glints off of her braces. "Mom made a big batch of brownies. What if we just go home and get some ooey-gooey brownies and cocoa? Jason, do you want to come?"
Jason looks like he likes the idea but he waits for your response.
