anon's TW3 Mod List

Witcher Pepe

A (relatively) lightweight mod list for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Welcome to anons's TW3 Mod List, a completely modular mod guide for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt built to improve aspects of the game without heavily altering the original vision.

The objective: Develop a comprehensive mod list that is focused on fixing bugs, improving quality of life, and maintaining vanilla stability.

Start with a fresh install of The Witcher 3. This means uninstall through Steam or GOG and delete the folder in "C:\Documents\The Witcher 3". Every mod has a link and the file(s) to download below it. Mods should be installed through the Witcher 3 Mod Manager and the mods should ultimately be merged with the Script Merger. Nearly every mod is optional, so feel free to skip the mods that don't interest you.

Note: This mod list is focused around Ghost Mode - a mod that fixes numerous vanilla bugs and rebalances combat.

Note: This page (and therefore - this mod list) displays when it was last updated at the bottom right of this page.

Tip: You can change this page to dark mode with a button at the bottom right of this page.

Tip: Using a userscript manager (like Violentmonkey) and using a script like Nexus No Wait makes downloading files from Nexus Mods a lot more bearable.

Utilities

You may want to create a "TW3 Modding" folder and create a "Downloads" and "Tools" folder inside. These two utilities should be installed in the "Tools" folder.

Essentials

From here down, every mod that states "INSTALL MANUALLY" means that the contents of the zip should be directly placed inside of "The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt" folder. Every other mod should be installed via The Witcher 3 Mod Manager

Priorities

If you ended up using all the mods that I use, feel free to use my pre-established priorities: 69k2g7.7z. That zip includes my in-game settings and mod settings. To use either file, put it in your "C:\Documents\The Witcher 3" folder. If not, you may enter priorities by double-clicking mods in the right panel of the Mod Manager. I suggest you copy these priorities. The rest of the priorities shouldn't matter.

The priorities should read:

Script Merging

Select all scripts and begin merging. Instructions for which lines to pick are below:

  1. actor.ws: Select line from B.
  2. merchantNPC.ws: Select line from C.
  3. npc.ws: Select line from C.
  4. playerWitcher.ws (1): Select line from C.
  5. playerWitcher.ws (2): Select the first line from B and C.
  6. playerWitcher.ws (3): Select line from B.
  7. r4Player.ws: Select the first line from C, the second from C, the third from B, the fourth from B, and the fifth from C.

Options

You can run the Witcher 3 through the Mod Manager. The game should successfully compile all the scripts and run. Be sure to close the game and run it again so you don't end up with the "-1 potions" bug. If you ended up using all the mods that I use, feel free to use my pre-established settings: 69k2g7.7z. That zip includes my in-game settings and mod settings. To use either file, put it in your "C:\Documents\The Witcher 3" folder.

Or, you can manually enable the mods in mod settings:

  1. Ice Breath Settings: Cold Places.
  2. LIT: Recommended.
  3. Combat Stance: Default.
  4. Enhanced Targeting: KB&M (Or controller if you're playing on controller. I also Disable "Cast Signs Towards Camera".)
  5. Friendly Meditation:
    A. Meditation: Default.
    B. Camera: Default.
  6. Gwent Redux: Reset.
  7. Ghost Mode:
    A. Enemy Scaling: Recommended.
    B. Experience: Default.
    C. Gameplay: Recommended.
    D. QOL: Recommended.
From this point on, use the scroll wheel to view mod settings below the menu and carefully click to find the right menu button. It may take some time, as the UI doesn't line up with where the buttons actually are.
  8. Modular Eyes:
    A: Default.
    B: Default.
    C: Default.
    D: Default.
    E: Default.
  9. Natural Torchlight: Vanilla.
  10. Thoughtful Roach: Thoughtful.
  11. Wearable Pocket Items: Enable All (And I disable "Enable for Pockets Slot 2". Feel free to play around with the "Bombs Position" setting I found that Back, Higher is my favorite.)

Enable the DLC you want in the gameplay and/or DLC settings - I enabled everything but "Alternative Look for Triss" and "Alternative Look for Ciri".
Finally, pressing F8 on your keyboard opens up the options for BlitzFX. Play around with the settings. If you want more performance, use F7 to toggle BlitzFX on or off.

You now have successfully modded The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Have fun vros.
