Sude mi (They judge me)
by Miroslav Škoro
A knight of my ancestry writes a book
In a distant land, chained
So he sends it to his faithful lover
Under the walls of the white city
Hey, my love, the fairy of my eye
Days go by, years pass, hey, that your body were not with me
And that my brothers had betrayed me
They judge me
Because I love my own, I love them the most
Because I defended my dearest
I am judged by my enemies*, my love
But they do not know that the truth is a deep water
Hey, dear children, green branches of mine
Listen to what I am telling you
Hey, whoever does not love and protect their own will not see the face of God
They judge me
Because I love my own, I love them the most
Because I defended my dearest
I am judged by my enemies, my love
But they do not know that the truth is a deep water
They judge me
Because I love my own, I love them the most
Because I defended my dearest
I am judged by my enemies, my love
But they do not know that the truth is deep water deep
Because the truth is a deep water
*the word for enemies used in the original song is 'dušman', a loan word from the Turkish language that is widely used in Serbia and BiH, but not so much in Croatia (the word for enemy in Croatian is 'protivnik' (against-person)) I have never heard anyone say this word that was Croatian
