Camp Maki Bond Story episode 4
Momotalk
M: The year's almost over.
M: There was so much stuff I wanted to do, the year just flew right past me.
S: It really has.../I still have a lot of work to finish up this year...
M: Seminar's been pretty choked too.
M: Sensei, how about I help you with some stuff!
S: Well, how about I organize some of the receipts on my next shift. Ones I'll ask you to do./I still haven't made much progress on them...
M: Sure thing.
M: Wait
M: Wasn't the deadline of those supposed to be today?
M: I won't be able to make it my turn on duty next time either...
M: Does Yuuka-senpai know about this?
S: ...
S: Please don't tell her...
M: Hehe. Well, I have been pretty thirsty for that limited edition tropical flavour of Yokai Max.
S: ...I'll have it ready by your shift.
At a cafe in the millennium study area...
While on the way home after giving Yuuka the receipts...
Maki looked worried.
M: Hmm...
S: What're you doing Maki?/Still thinking?
M: Ah, Sensei.
M: Good timing!
M: ...Since you're an adult, you receive a ton of New Year cards right?
S: Just because I'm an adult doesn't mean I automatically get more.../Work's coming along pretty well though.
M: That's good enough!
M: So, out of all the New Year's cards you've received so far...
M: Which was the most memorable?
S: Hmm, which one...
S: Wait, what's with the sudden talk about New Year's cards?
M: That's cuz Chihiro senpai told me to write New Year's cards to be people who've helped me, since I'm a high school student.
M: Like the owner of my favourite electronic store... or the other club members...
M: But isn't a letter a little inefficient?
M: Why's everyone so hung up on New Year cards when we communicate via phones nowadays?
S: It's not like I don't get your point.../But I think there's some feelings that can only be conveyed via a letter.
M: Ah. that's pretty true. But I'm not sure what kind of New Year's card I should make.
M: The inspiration's just not here.
S: You can just buy some cute ones in the stores.
M: That's a no go!
M: Something boring like that isn't attractive enough.
M: If I'm gonna do this, it's gonna be the best New Year's card or nothing!
S: Now there's the mindset!
M: But when I researched New Year's cards, all the messages were pretty cookie cutter, like [thanks for this year!] or something like that.
M: Just how can I express gratitude through painting?
M: What do you think would make a good New Year's card?
S: I wouldn't exactly say the design is the focus.../But rather to Maki's gratitude and memories...
S: How about a picture of the most memorable moment of the year?
M: Hm...
M: Ah!
M: Wait right here Sensei!

M: Finished!
M: What'd you think, Sensei?
S: An excellent design.
S: Hmm. Is this..
M: What you see here is...
M: The first piece of graffiti I ever drew with you.
M: Of course, I've been doing a lot of graffiti this year too.
M: But to be honest, the biggest impression on me was the time I spent with you.
M: Wait, no, not in that way!
M: I just, wanted to thank you.
M: Can you accept it? It's my first New Year's card.
M: Hehe. Please take care of me next year too. Sensei.
