Beginning Sanskrit - Scripts and Sounds Course Structure
This course is structured in the form of one quarter (10 weeks, 1.5 hours per week). Students take an exam at the end of the course during the 11th week. The course is innovatively structured using the syllabus and textbooks designed by Samskrita Bharati USA and will be based on the material contained in the books published by SB - USA, 'ARUNA' 'UDAYA' and 'AYANAM' supplemented with other appropriate coursework. content.
This course is structured to enable the beginning student to begin listening, writing and reading the DevanAgari script through an effective set of exercises.
Learning objectives:
In this course students will be able to:
Understand the origin of different sounds in Sanskrit.
Pronouncing and writing the Sanskrit alphabets, which are individual letters, both vowels and consonants.
Pronounce and write Sanskrit letter combinations and use them to form words.
Recitation of simple Sanskrit verses with correct pronunciation.
Listen and recite simple songs.
Engage in simple conversations.
