Summer in Florida is just plain hot. While the kids are out on summer break, everyone thinks of cool things for them to do. But, what about adults? From pool parties at nudist camps, to mud events and a new pool and grill concept, we've found ways for adults to escape the heat.
β’ Caliente nudist resort is holding a double header, clothing optional Fourth of July poolside party with a barbecue and live music by the Bus Stop Band (12:30-4:30 p.m. June 30) and the Groove 41 Band (1-5 p.m. July 4). Also scheduled is the Labor Day Stay-N-Play Salute to the American Worker. This four day poolside party features music by Frankie Ray (1-5 p.m. Aug. 31), Greg Warren (1-5 p.m. Sept. 1), #NoFilter (1-5 p.m. Sept. 2) and Sweet Spot (1-5 p.m. Sept. 3). β’ America II Extreme Mud Wars: This wildly popular day of rolling in a mud pit and slinging dirt returns to St. Petersburg with more than 600 people competing in ultimate football, belly bumpers, dodge ball, tug-of-war, an obstacle course, joust pit, the eliminator and mud volleyball. A minimum of 5,000 sandbags, 10 dump trucks of soil and eight fire hoses will create this messy fun. Teams of six to 10 must have two women or more per team. β’ Mud Endeavor: Under the Lights: If you are a night owl, then this 5K neon mud run is for you. β’ WTR Pool and Grill: Formerly the Beach Bar, this spot in the Godfrey Hotel has an updated restaurant and outdoor recreation area with a swimming pool, 20-foot hot tub, several outdoor bars and 14 cabanas equipped with televisions, refrigerators and charging stations.
