Auto CreamAPI Guide for unlocking Steam game DLC (WINDOWS ONLY)
Before you start, you may need to install .NET CORE 3.1 for this to work if you don't already have it installed from a game or something.
- Download AutoCreamAPI (click the blue autocreamapi to download) Extract the zip file to a new folder, and double click the
auto-creamapi.exe
inside the folder - Let AutoCreamAPI download everything it needs to download. While it's downloading you should see a menu like this.
Once it's done, you'll see this menu.
- From this menu, you'll want to click the grey box next to the box that says
Path to game's steam_api(64).dll
Once you click that, a file explorer should appear.
- Navigate to where your game is from the file explorer. If you installed Steam in the default location, and also install your games in the default location, head to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\
by either pasting it into the address bar (click to see an image) in the file explorer or going there manually. - Now that you are in the correct folder, you should see folders with the names of your games.
Go into the folder of the game that you want the DLC for, then search for a file called either steam_api64.dll
or steam_api.dll
Usually they're right in the first folder you go into for your game, but if they aren't, you'll have to do some searching. If you find both, you can pick either. Once you find the right file, double click on it.
Once you double click on it, make sure that you see DLC names in the big box on the main screen, like this:
As you can see, there are names inside the big box, those are the DLC's.
If the showing up of DLC's doesn't happen, and instead you get a popup like this (click), then go here because fixing this is a whole other adventure.
- Now that the DLC names have popped up in the big box, you want to click the Save button at the bottom right of the main window, and that is it. Make sure that when you save, the places that I highlighted look exactly like the ones in the picture below. Now that you're done, close the window, and you should have the DLC.
Some games may not work after you do this. requiring you to check the box that says Try to bypass game specific protection
, to apply this, repeat the same steps to find and select the steam_api(64).dll file, check the right box, then save and exit. Of course, also keep in mind that even with the extra option, it might not work, because some games are like that.
