easiest way to mod ror2 is to install thunderstore mod manager (https://www.overwolf.com/app/Thunderstore-Thunderstore_Mod_Manager), since installing the mods manually is a huge pain in the neck. I'll just be detailing going over how to do it in Thunderstore.

If you already know how to mod ROR2/can probably figure it out yourself, here's the link.
https://thunderstore.io/package/DrBibop/VRMod/

steps:

  1. Install the mod manager and run it.
  2. Select Risk of Rain 2 as the game you want to mod
  3. Either select the default profile with the "Select Profile" button to change it, or create a new profile if you want to make your own mod pack
  4. On the sidebar, click on "Online" and search up "VRMod" in the searchbar.
  5. Click on the mod and select "Download with dependencies", which just installs are the prerequisite stuff for the VRmod to work.
  6. Click on "Start Modded" in the sidebar. The client should tell you that it's launching RoR2 and start up Steam theater and the game itself.

At this point, everything should be set up if you want the vanilla experience. You can also take the time to download other mods if you want to, but it'll be a lot of trial and error to see which work in VR. If you want to import an existing profile, select "Import" from the profile selection and paste the code/file in the requisite box.
Make sure you put the game screen in focus or else your vr controls won't work. Haven't tested mp with cracked copies so you'll have to find your own fix if you want to play with other people in VR.

NOTE: If you're playing on a valve index or a reverb G2, you'll HAVE to change your bindings to get stuff to work. Here are the instructions directly from the mod page on setting it up:

"The Index Knuckles and the Reverb G2 controllers use the same binds as the Oculus Touch controllers but need special bindings in SteamVR in order to function properly. Their support in this version of Unity isn't well implemented out of the box. You can find the binding files below:
(You can also download it from the VRMod page if you don't trust the link)

With your file downloaded, open a file explorer and go to C:/Users/%USERNAME%/Documents/steamvr/input/imports. Create the imports folder if necessary. Drag the binding file you downloaded into that directory.

Now that the file is setup, you can open the game in VR and open the SteamVR overlay. Inside the overlay, you can go activate the custom binding:

if there's anything else that's missing/any problems that come up just ask in the thread
