Microsoft is Bringing Minecraft Legends, Lies of P, and a whole Bunch more To Gamescom

The Xbox lineup for Gamescom-Microsoft's debut in-person appearance since the year 2019 has been revealed.

Microsoft has revealed its plans for the coming Gamescom 2022 (opens in a new tab) show taking place later this month in Cologne, Germany. The 2022 Gamescom will be the first time Microsoft has held an live-streamed presentation at Gamescom since 2019, but for those who are unable to attend (which we'll admit, is most of us) it will also offer livestreamed presentations (opens in new tab) that will include interviews and gameplay from multiple studios and games.

The Xbox Booth at Gamescom livestream starts at 5 a.m. 8 AM PT on the 25th of August (it's in Europe), and will continue until 11:01 PT/2 pm ET. The English-language broadcast will be available in German and French as well as Italian, Spanish (Latin American and Castilian), Brazilian Portuguese and Chinese (Simplified). English Audio Descriptions, ASL, BSL, and DGS interpretations will also be available.

A detailed schedule will be released prior to Gamescom however, this is "a glimpse of what to expect":

Microsoft Flight Simulator (opens new tab) (Asobo Studioor Xbox Game Studios Publishing). Gunfire Reborn is (opens new tab)(Duoyi Games/505 Games). Sea of Thieves (opens in new tab) (Rare Games (Rare Games) Xbox Game Studios) Lies of P (opens new tab) (Neowiz High On Life (opens in new tab) (Squanch Games) Grounded (opens in a new tab) (Obsidian Entertainment / Xbox Game Studios) Pentiment (opens new tab) (Obsidian Entertainment/ Xbox Game Studios). A Plague Tale: Requiem (opens in new tab) (Asobo Studio / Focus Entertainment) Minecraft Legends (opens in new tab) (Mojang Studios & Blackbird Interactive / Xbox Game Studios) Planet of Lana (opens new tab) (Wishfully/Thunderful) Age of Empires 4 (opens in new tab) (Relic Entertainment & World's Edge / Xbox Game Studios) There's certainly something interesting in there. Pentiment, a 16th-century narrative adventure in development at Obsidian, is probably at the top of my list, but Lies of P-the Pinnochio Bloodborne-alike-looks darkly promising too, and of course everyone is waiting for a closer look at Minecraft Legends, the RTS Minecraft spinoff. The indie platformer Planet of Lana, due to release later this year, is another one I have high hopes for.

If you are unable to attend Gamescom in person Microsoft will have a variety of games that are available for public play (including Lies of P, Planet of Lana) and you'll get the chance to take pictures with among them, the VASCO robot of Starfield and a five meter-wide Broodmother Spider from Grounded. Here's how to get in:

Thursday, August 25, from 10:00am to 8:00pm CEST. Friday, August 26th 10:00am - 8:45pm CEST Saturday August 27 9 am - 8 pm CEST Sunday, August 28 9:00am - 9:00pm CEST Gamescom 2022 will officially start with Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live, which will begin at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET on August 23.
Andy has been playing since the beginning. https://serverlist101.com/minecraft-servers/ He began with basic text adventures and primitive action games using a TRS80 cassette-based TRS80. From there, he moved on to the glory days of Sierra Online adventures and Microprose sims, operated a local BBS and learned how to build PCs, and developed a longstanding love of RPGs, immersive sims and shooters. He began writing videogame news in 2007 for The Escapist and somehow managed to stay in the job until 2014 when he was a part of the legendary ranks of PC Gamer. He covers everything in the industry, including new game announcements and patch points as well as legal disputes, Twitch beefs, and Esports. There's a lot of Henry Cavill.
