Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He evaluates and tests cleaning equipment, with a focus on mopping and robot vacuum combos. These multitaskers can be a great option for those looking to get rid of mopping off their list of tasks. Some have great navigation and obstacles avoidance. Some even wash and refill mopping pads for a hands-free clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
This is the model you should choose if you want an automatic vacuum cleaner that can also mop. It's smaller than other models on this list making it easier to maneuver into tight corners and underneath furniture. It comes with a 220 degree Lidar that, combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, offers some of my favorite navigation and avoidance capabilities I've seen in robot vacuums. It's got a battery of 4600mAh that can last for up to 170 mins when cleaning and sucking are set to standard mode. (It can run longer on turbo). It will even return to the dock to top up its battery part way through an efficient.
It's efficient and does an outstanding job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It is able to vacuum carpeted rooms quickly, and hardwood floors in the living room, kitchen, and hallways with just one sweep. The motor's 8,000pa power allows it to pick up dirt, pet hair, and even droppings effortlessly. Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it comes into contact with rugs, and the two side brushes help to tease out debris from corners.
The mopping efficiency, while still impressive, is not as effective. The mop rotates quickly and utilizes 2.2lbs to clean dirt and stain. I've noticed that the front arm extends out a little more than other robots. robot vacuum cleaners is helpful when getting into tight corners or on baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to scoop up larger objects like books and broken toys.
Another great feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the quietest robot vacuums and mop I've ever tried. It doesn't create the same amount of noise when mopping or vacuuming, and is much quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The only issue is that the S1 Pro must use a specific cleaning solution to perform mopping, and is sold separately from the vacuum. It is easy to set up, and it works well. However when you purchase this vacuum solely to mop it is important to be aware of this.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from the majority of robot vacuums that mop in its class. It is a powerful cleaning machine with a wide range of features.
The device comes with a powerful cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensor technology with an RGB camera. This enables it to map out the home, find furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean effectively and methodically. This leads to a thorough, consistent clean that's also fairly quick.
The Q Revo DuoRoller mop pad can reach a variety of surfaces. These include corners, baseboards, and other difficult-to-access spots. The side brush can be stretched out to extend to the floor, close to the walls or other fixtures. The mop pads are washable and dry to eliminate odors and stop buildup.
Another feature worth mentioning is the customization options that are available through apps. The Q Revo allows you to adjust the intensity of its suction and choose between a back-andforth or more random patterns. You can also choose the number of passes which determines how fast it can move around your home. You can even choose to turn off the side brush to avoid damaging carpets and rugs.
This device is expensive however it has many useful features. However, it's important to keep in mind that it has periodic expenses in the form of mopping equipment and maintenance. For instance brushrolls need to be replaced every six to twelve months or after 300 hours. The filter should be cleaned after 150 hours and the mop pad must be replaced every one to three months.
This robot vacuum that mops has an excellent rating on Amazon and includes a broad range of physical automation features. The robot vacuum also comes with an power button that doubles as a 'Clean button' and a 'Home' button to send it back home after cleaning. It also has a multifunctional dock that automatically empty the trash bin and refills its water tank to mop and washes and dries its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you're a professional with a lot of work or someone who just wants a cleaner home without spending much time doing chores The Shark Matrix Plus is a good option. It's a top-performing device, intelligent navigation, and long battery life that makes it simple to keep your home clean with little effort.
The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop, which means it is able to handle both vacuuming and mopping. The robot is divided into two components that include a dry bin as well as a water tank that can be snapped out and in and a mopping unit that has microfiber pads. It's a bit old-fashioned to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping but it does mean you don't have to worry about changing disposable bags or refilling the tank of water.
Our test participants found that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming as well as mopping. Its best feature is its precise floorplan map, which it utilizes when cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate between rugs, furniture, and other obstacles. The app also offers the option to set "No-Go zones" and virtual barriers that help to protect certain areas of your home from being cleaned with a mop.
The Matrix Plus also did a remarkable job at collecting hair from pets. It was able capture a lot of the hair our cats shed, and even got into the corners and crevices of our stairs where other robots struggled. affordable robot vacuum was fairly quiet and even had some pleasant jingles that let you know when it was beginning or finished its work.
The app was too easy and you had to switch the modules every time you changed between mops and vacuuming. The app can't contain multiple maps, which can be a problem if you have a home that has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus is a good choice for people who want an intelligent robot that can perform both vacuuming and mopping.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive of our review. However, it has certain unique features that are worth a look. The X1 Omni's main draw is its massive dock which doubles as a charging base and housing for two 4-liter water tanks, a clean sink and a 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically emptys.
The base also comes with a set of buttons to control the system. These let you manually start a cleaning job and then recall the robot or use the dock's automatic emptying process. Hold down two of the buttons to switch on the child lock which is a great feature for parents who are worried about their children playing with the vacuum.
Like other robotic vacuums the Omni Omni utilizes its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path and avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
The X1 can be prone to become stuck if it is entangled in an obstacle, such as a power cable draped over a rug. It won't work until you remove it manually. While it was not common but it was a very frustrating experience when it did happen particularly since the X1 Omni does not have an "stuck" status alert in its application.
Another potential downside is one of the biggest drawbacks is X1 Omni's inability to automatically change between vacuuming and mopping modes during cleaning. You'll have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad but mopping pads don't get washed or dried between uses. This can cause mildew and mold.
The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who designed its sleek modern, contemporary base and mopping pad. It's a huge departure from the utilitarian all-black bases of competitors like Roborock or iRobot. It's also a welcome sight for an industry dominated by boxes.
