"Hey, why do some people not like tone tags?"

Tone tags, commonly referred to as "tts" or "ttgs," are text indicators made for neurodivergent people who may struggle with telling people's tone over messages. While anyone can use or need tone tags, not everybody likes using them or having them used on themselves. This can be for multiple reasons.
Here are a few common reasons as to why:

People don't like tone tags being used on them because:

  • It feels babying
  • It makes them feel stupid.
  • It makes them feel as if the person is lying about their tone.
  • People tend to overuse them; it feels incredibly babying when they do that.
  • People can get overwhelmed by the usage, for reasons above or others.
  • They may be uncomfortable due to the way tone tags have been used on them in the past.

People don't like using tone tags because:

  • They feel like others will think they're lying about their tone.
  • They feel like they're babying the other person.
  • They don't understand their own tone and get overwhelmed trying to use tone tags, or they don't know what tone tags to use.
  • Find them unnecessary, as the person can ask their tone.
  • Some people just forget about them.
  • They are confident in the tone of their messages.
  • DONT FORCE PEOPLE TO USE TONE TAGS
If it is that much of a problem, block and avoid them. or tell them you would rather not interact due to them not using tonetags.
I understand that some people are too anxious to ask tone, but it can be overwhelming to use them or have them used altogether.

Just avoid the person if it's such an issue, feelings might be hurt in the process, but it's better to avoid arguments this way.

These rules also apply if someone doesn't want to use specific tone tags. If they don't use them, ask beforehand if you're allowed to use them on that person. Don't force them to use specific tone tags.
