The game is a pixel art top down roguelike with a unique mechanic related to waves

Here's the basic breakdown of the game lore

  • The main character is a soul that shouldn't exist, having descended from another world.
  • The player wields a scythe that blends with their very being, symbolizing their nature as Death.
  • The player is Death itself, seeking the truth of this world, which is safeguarded by the final boss.
  • The character is similar to a grim reaper, an entity that was never meant to exist here.
  • The game is pixel art-based, adding a stylistic, eerie charm to the decaying world.
  • The world itself is hiding a dark secret, and the final boss fights to prevent Death from uncovering it.
  • Death was never supposed to exist in this world, and learning the truth could unravel reality itself.
  • As the player progresses, the world warps and deteriorates, reflecting the collapse of reality as Death gets closer to the truth.
  • The final boss is not just an enemy but the guardian of existence, fighting to stop Death from undoing the fabric of this world.

Here's the gameplay style

  • The player primarily attacks using a normal scythe strike.
  • Killing enemies grants the player Death Points (name not finalized).
  • The player can accumulate an unlimited number of Death Points.
  • Upon reaching a certain number of Death Points, the player enters Death State (name not finalized), allowing them to unleash charged attacks until their Death Points reach zero.
  • A charged attack typically releases a wave.
  • While charging, the wave size shrinks, making it more precise, reducing its impact angle, but significantly increasing its damage.
  • Releasing the left mouse button fires the charged attack.
  • Each charged attack consumes a fixed amount of Death Points.
  • The attack’s power decreases based on the wave’s angle (as described in point 6) and the enemy’s distance from the epicenter.

Here's the enemies

  1. The Forsaken
    • They are the lost souls bound to earth who know the truth of this world, and do not want death itself to know the truth, and will do whatever they can to stop it
    • They take on the form of shadowy colorless lifeless humanoid figures with hollowed glowing eyes. They have claw like hands which they use to attack the player.
    • They are weak on their own, but can cause trouble in groups. (SPEED buff, including atk speed)
  2. Reality Wardens
    • Empty armors that once held brave warriors who fought with honor. Now these armors move around in the name of The Revenant
    • They have prized armors and the sharpest blades, the reality wardens are a tough enemy. Not only do they deal a high damage, but also possess the ability to summon the forsaken.
    • They summon a forsaken for every 33% hp they lose and the summoned forsaken always has the speed buff. Only one summon may exist from a warden at any time.
  3. Echoes of the Withered Epochs
    • These are beings that arise from complete desolation, their true purpose is only annihilation of whatever comes in front of them.
    • They have immense health and their size always changes from the smallest dogs to a group of the forsaken, creating shockwaves that if not dodged can leave a gaping hole in ones heart.
    • They look like blobs of pure hatred, as a black body glowing red and purple as if emanating all the hatred it holds. "...in its endless fury, the echoes of treachery still howl, feeding the abyss that once was a heart." - unknown
    • They are said to be the guardians of reality and the fabric of life itself, they are the ones betrayed by The Revenant during the withered epochs (a long forgotten time). A promise that was broken left them shattered and lifeless.
    • Their shockwaves add the Death Point leak effect, which constantly drains death point and player speed. The player can avoid this by dashing over the shockwave. Getting affected by this shockwave makes beams more unstable.
    • These beings also do raw atk almost equal to that of a reality warden every second for 5 seconds, and this effect can happen once every 20 seconds.
  4. Retainers of Orders of Strange Eons
    • The beings that are under the direct influence of The Revenant, these extremely powerful beings have existed since the beginning of time, but were enthralled by The Revenant during a certain time period eons ago.
    • They have direct access to a portion of The Revenant's power, but don't use it, because they don't need to. They possess the abilities of primordial elements.
