Really hate how disoriented I keep getting on BF3. I've identified one spinner for sure (the ! on the map) that I think turned me west when I approached it from the north.

The messages are all stuff like "turn around" and "turn left" and they're not really helpful because they say that no matter which side I approach them from.

I have basically no confidence in anything around the edges/left side of the map. I keep falling in pits, checking DUMAPIC and saying "wait, how the fuck did I get over there??" I strongly suspect there are spinners or teleporters inside some of the rooms and their effect is undetectable because they're repositioning me somewhere the view looks exactly the same. Which I think is ridiculous, surely the party would know they've been physically moved in space even if the view looks the same to them. Even like a brief message like "you feel disoriented" or something when it happens would be better than nothing. I can't cast DUMAPIC every goddamn step.

In brighter news, I found the elevator, and now that I'm a bit higher level I felt comfortable experimenting a bit. I figured out where I missed the elevator on BF2. Well, I didn't miss it because the elevator is sealed off from the rest of the dungeon. Same for BF3. The elevator is in its own little area and is only really useful for going back to BF1. The BF2 elevator isn't useful for anything. It's really weird.

Anyway, I said "I can't cast DUMAPIC every step" but I think I'm going to have to. Pick a chunk of the map and just meticulously map out every step until I know I've got it correct. Figure out where all the spinners and teleporters are. I think I'm going to start with the southwest corner and gradually work my way east, then north.

BF2 map with the elevator in the middle. There's no way in or out of that little section. I didn't find any secret doors or anything else in those rooms.

Map of BF3 so far. A lot of it is probably wrong. The elevator's accessible from that one-way door just a few steps from the stairs, but there's no way back out to the rest of the floor. Just a quick way back to BF1, I guess. But getting back hasn't been a huge issue for me, tbh. I'll probably feel differently once I'm deeper in the dungeon.
