The Fabia was the first mainstream Skoda model, and also its smallest. Over the course of three generations, its blend of space and value quality has helped it move from being the subject of many car jokes to a prominent member of the VW Group.

The Fabia's fourth generation has more refined styling and more practical equipment. There's also an umbrella storage in the trim for the driver's door, two USB-C ports up front, and an electrical socket with 12 volts under the dashboard. The glove box is large and there's enough room to put a couple of large bottles in the back.

The Fabia is a small car that comes with a number of safety features. These include driver alert, lane assist and hill hold control. It also comes with various airbags, and remote central locking. There's even a feature that will sound the alarm and flash lights if you've left your keys in the ignition or when you accidentally open the door using the fob of your key.

If you're unable to lock or unlock your Fabia with the key fob it could be due to a dead coin battery. Replace a dead coin battery with one of similar in size, voltage and specification. Take off the battery with a flat surface and replace it with another one, ensuring that the positive side of the new battery is facing upwards.

The key fob comes with metal clips that bind the battery and complete the circuit. If they're not secure they could cause an issue with the contact and block the remote from receiving commands. Check the battery contacts using the multimeter or voltage meter to ensure they are in good order. If not, it's most likely the transmitter module or electronic chip is the issue.
