Where Can You Find The Most Effective Tandem Double Buggy Information

Buying a Tandem Double Buggy

If you have twins or children very close in age, a tandem double buggie is a great option. They are smaller than side by side buggies and are ideal for small spaces such as doorways, public transport and rough terrain.

Some are able to be converted into travel systems that use two carrycots or car seats for children. They are often heavier, longer and less stable than a single pushchair.

Convertible

Whether you're looking for a convertible single-to-double stroller or want to add an additional seat to an existing one, there's a variety of options available. The UPPAbaby is a large, beautiful stroller. It can be easily changed from a single to a dual by adding an seating area with a rumble. It is more expensive and less maneuverable because the second seat is placed in front of the first seat. The Nuna Demi Grow is a comparable model with great seating versatility but lacks under-seat storage when used in doubles mode.

Other alternatives include twin buggies with all-terrain wheels, and joggers with fixed wheels that can hold two kids. These tend to be more expensive but they're designed for long trips over rough terrain and can have a higher resale value.

Reclining the seat independently

If you are looking for a double stroller which can accommodate children of various ages, you will need one with independent seat recliner for both seats. This allows your older child to rest while the baby is in the bassinet and reverse.

You'll also need to think about the size of the pushchair, as this will affect the ease of traverse doors and public transport. If you have extremely narrow doors, it could be worthwhile to consider a side-by-side pushchair, such as the Mountain Buggy Duet which has the benefit of having a footprint comparable to a single buggy however, it is able to use two seats and car seat adaptors.

Tandem buggies are generally slightly longer than side-by-side models and so aren't as difficult to maneuver through kerbs and up and down, but they can accommodate a bigger range of seat/carrycot/car seat combinations so can be a good option for twins or siblings of various age. They are also more expensive than single-to double buggies, but are worth the investment if you plan to keep it for many years and will retain a decent amount of resale value in the event that you sell it on when your children have grown out of it.

Another important feature to look out for is if the seat backs are able to recline independently from one another as this will let you put your child in the most optimal position for naps or watching. This is especially important if you have a young child in the rear seat who may prefer to lay back and sleep while the older child would prefer to sit and observe their surroundings.

Certain brands come with an exclusive seat design that allows the back seat to completely recline into a nearly flat position that is perfect for babies. For example, the iCandy Orange has raised stadium-style seating that can recline both the included toddler seat and the additional RumbleSeat into various positions so your kids can have the option of deciding where they will sit, as well as providing an excellent UPF 50+ canopy with peekaboo windows.

Wider than twin buggies

They are ideal for siblings with different ages, and you can get around without worrying about your children touching. They're typically a bit longer too with one seat placed behind the other, and typically offering a fully-flat recline for infants (or an upright position for toddlers).

Mountain Buggy Duet is a popular option. It is the slimmest design of the two-in-ones on the market and a footprint that is similar to one stroller. It features an adjustable handle that makes it easier for parents to push, and a handbrake that can be useful on hills that are steep. It is suitable for use right from birth, and it can be combined with a variety of car seats and carrycots.

The iCandy Wave is another option. It folds in either mono or duo mode with just a single click. Its innovative frame expands widthways to accommodate a second seat and can be used with up to two car seats or carrycots making it a great option for older siblings that want to sit in a group and share the view. It's slightly longer than some other models, but it's light to steer and has soft suspension that is able to handle kerbs.

There are a lot of 3-wheeler inline tandems available - check out Phil and Teds' inline models or iCandy's Peach and Pear buggies for instance they offer stability and swift steering. They are often folded into one buggy in case you have a small space at home, or need to carry it from the car to the bus.

Be aware that a two-wheeled buggy is more heavy and more bulkier than one that is compact. Be sure you know what you want before you purchase. It is likely to be used on buses, trains and subways frequently, so it must be easy to use and manage. It is possible that you will need to move the car seat in and out when taking your child to school or nursery.

From birth, you are an ideal candidate

If you're expecting twins, or have another child after your first, you're going need to find a pushchair that fits the whole family. Double buggies tend to be a bit heavier, bulkier and more expensive than single strollers, however they are also more maneuverable in narrower entrances or around obstacles like curbs. Many double buggies can be used with piggyback boards (available from the manufacturer or as an add-on). This lets you transport three children at once.

Tandem pushchairs put one child in front the other. They are a good choice if your children are of similar ages and get along well. But they're not completely safe Siblings in a side-by-side seat can kick or punch each other, and children who are different heights can argue over who should sit higher. This issue can be addressed by a tandem high-low design that elevates the seat in the rear. Your older child will not be sitting at the bottom of the car and won't get much of an opportunity to see.

The iCandy Wave is a great option for parents looking for an easy-to-use double buggy that converts to accommodate a newborn in a carrycot as well as an older child in the main seat. It has an intelligent frame that increases in size when you add the second child seat. It folds flat for storage that is compact. The seats are cushioned and comfortable, the straps are easy to secure and the buckles some of the best we've seen on any of our tests. The seats can be reclined independently and the canopy is large and generous with UPF 50+ protection as well as windows that peek out.

The only drawback of the iCandy is that it's a little on the expensive side however, a good tandem will last a long time and will retain its resale value, so you'll probably get back some of the cost in the end. It doesn't come with the same variety of seating options as some of our other top choices however, the iCandy is a good option for families that don't want to spend a lot.
