(Spoiler alert for Hamilton and Beetlejuice) Did you know - In Lin Manuel's Broadway Musical Hamilton, during the song "Aaron Burr, Sir", John Laurens raps "Yo yo yo yo yo! What time is it? Showtime! Showtime! Showtime! Yo!". This is a reference to the 1988 Tim Burton fantasy/horror movie Beetlejuice. In the film, the titular Beetlegeuse remarks "It's Showtime!" after being summoned. Furthermore, Laurens repeats the 'Showtime' line three times, and the first time 'Showtime' is cried out Laurens is joined by Laffayette and Mulligan, three people. The number three is significant to Beetlejuice, as this is the number of times Beetlegeuse's name must be spoken three times in a row.
When Beetlejuice received a musical adaptation on Broadway, a clever nod to Hamilton was included. During the 'puppet show' scene, when Mr. Beebleboose throws the Handbook for the Recently Deceased into the fire, it yells out 'Tell my story!' before being incinerated. This joke is called back to at the end of the musical, when Beetlejuice's last line before departing into the Netherworld is also 'Tell my story!'. Both lines clearly refer to a repeated line from Hamilton, 'You have no control who lives, who dies, who tells your story', as heard in songs "History has its eyes on you" and "Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story".
Since both properties share references with each other, it can be safely assumed as canon that Beetlejuice takes place in the Hamilton universe. This can actually be evidenced in the film - the Maitland's real estate agent Jane mentions that their house recieved an offer of two hundred and sixty thousand dollars from a man in New York. New York is the location in which many of the events of Hamilton take place, such as the significant Levi Weeks trial that both Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr counselled on.”
