“why do you like yuuki akiyama so much?”
a big reason why i started liking her in the first place is because… to be honest i just wanted a character to go crazy over. when i first started liking her on august 22, 2024 ( yes, i’m awfully late to the party shhh ) i didn’t like a character for MONTHS. and i mean like… months… usually when i join a new fandom i have one or two favorite characters that i both have a crush on, but unfortunately that didn’t apply to project sekai😭 i just didn’t find any of the characters appealing in that way and so i went on a lookout for characters to like. and also because i just found it iffy to like characters that weren’t 20+. me personally i don’t like making freaky jokes about the main cast so i tend to shift towards the side characters that are 20+. like i don’t care if people make sexual jokes about the project sekai characters as long as it stays rlly light because i'm aware the characters are still in highschool...
anyways, mafumom was actually the first one i found attractive ( appearance-wise, not personality ) but back then i decided “no she’s too much of a complex character” and i looked for someone else. then, i finally found yuuki and there my first yuuki phase started… ( then a yuuki phase started again around november 8, 2024 … then started AGAIN on may 22, 2025 and i seriously can’t get my mind off of her💔 ). i liked her, but my liking for her was on and off. but now… that’s not the case. she has fully occupied my mind.
now for the actual reasons…
one reason why i love yuuki akiyama so much is because of her looks! i was first drawn to yuuki for her overall character design—i thought she looked really pretty and not to mention cute🙏🙏… HELP ME IS THAT WEIRD??? IDK. anyways i liked how her hair was a shape i don’t usually see, and that’s just rlly cool ??? i love uniqueness around here, but that just makes her hair 10x harder to draw😭😭/silly. IT’S OKAY THOUGH I STILL LOVE HER AND WILL DRAW HER REGARDLESS OF HOW DIFFICULT HER HAIR IS TO DRAW!!! but like i feel like in my opinion so far, cuteness ( for some reason ) rlly runs in the akiyama family and i’m very excited to see the akiyama siblings’ parent models! pjsk please stop gatekeeping the akiyama mother please please PLEASE. i am begging.
continuing on, another reason is because yuuki is supersuper sweet to mizuki!!! so after my interest in her piqued, i started digging into her character/personality more and it turns out she was actually SO NICE LIKE AAGHH😭😭💗💗??? the relationship and dynamic the akiyamas have literally melt my heart so much. they’re absolutely adorable. yuuki would make cute clothes tailored to mizuki’s tastes and would also take mizuki shopping to make her feel better (as shown in ‘next to unchanging warmth’). i think that’s absolutely sweet and not to mention charming how much yuuki cares for her little sister!!! like seriously, not all older siblings are that nice. she was also always very supportive of mizuki’s actions no matter what. yuuki is deadass a blessing!!! yuuki had also said herself that she would always be happy with whatever mizuki does as long as she believes in what she believes in. ( i’ll paste the quote from her sekaipedia wiki: “I'll be happy as long as you believe in what you believe, Mizuki. I always have and always will. Don't mind what anybody else thinks, Mizuki. Your feelings come first. That's why I asked.”) and like.. THAT’S LITERALLY SO KIND HELLO????? AAAGHHFHDHJDDJD SHES LITERALLY SOOOO NICEREEEEEHERHEJEJDJ. YUUKI WHY ARE YOU SO NICEEEE AHHHHH.
adding onto the yuuki being sweet to mizuki part— i would like to name there was a time in the story where yuuki made scrunchies ( like the ones mizuki got from those lucky bags in ‘next to unchanging warmth’ but she ended up giving to mafuyu ) for the rest of niigo because she realized how important the group really is to mizuki, how special of a place the members place in her heart. yuuki ended up saying herself that they’re her way of hoping that niigo will always be together. how much yuuki looks out and invests so much of her time and care for mizuki ( as well as the people important to her ) is genuinely admirable in my opinion !!! both of the akiyamas depend on eachother so much which is something i find super adorable as well. ( ex. yuuki ended up becoming a fashion designer because of the way mizuki became happy when yuuki made something for her. it had made her happy that someone liked her clothes that much—especially her own sibling. so it ended up turning her hobby into a passion! and yuuki always supported mizuki’s actions no matter what and always tried to be there for her, encouraging mizuki to always ‘cherish her true feelings’ and not lose herself to societal standards and pressure. this shaped mizuki into who she is today, finally expressing herself in a way that she finds joy and comfort in. )
for the minor/tiny reasons but i’d still consider important to name…
HER VOICE. oh my god i literally cannot say this enough but i could genuinely listen to yuuki’s voice for hours and never get tired of it. ( i should start doing this honestly ) i love her voice actor SO MUCH and i’m glad that she made it into the game officially because her voice really fits yuuki’s character. i feel that her voice seriously reflects the sweetness and caring nature of her personality and i absolutely LOVE THAT SO MUCH. LIKE WHATTTT. project sekai you chose the right person. 🫶
SHE LITERALLY REMINDS ME OF MY OWN OLDER SISTER !!!!!!! okay so i want to clarify that this is NOT in a weird way—yes i have a crush on yuuki but trust me when i say, i do NOT have a crush on my sister. that is WEIRD AND GROSS😭. i just think that yuuki reminds me of my sister because of yuuki’s caring personality, the way she looks out for me. the way she’s so hardworking towards achieving her dreams and goals. we’re also long-distance siblings too and we barely get to see each other in person anymore😭, which sounds a lot like the akiyamas… I AM SOOO DEVASTATED THOUGH I MISS HER SO MUCH. ( NOTE: i sent an akiyama siblings post to my sister saying, ‘they remind me of us’, AND SHE HERSELF AGREED !!!! )
she’s actually lowk relatable okay. in her sekaipedia wiki it states this, “She is someone who sticks to her ideals and knows what it's like to be looked down upon for them and to feel isolated.” i’m specifically talking about the ‘knows what it's like to be looked down upon for them and to feel isolated.’ part in particular. this is because i’ve lived a very isolated and lonely life irl—i’ve been excluded and left alone a lot during my life, this specifically happens at school. ( to emphasize this, i think i’ve only had around 10 irl friends ever throughout my lifetime. ) and to know yuuki, one of my favorite characters, knows how that feels too? AHHHHHHH oh my GOD. it’s just insane to me ( IN AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING WAY ) and it genuinely makes me feel seen. i love it.
and last but not least… it’s literally because she’s a side character. okay look. i love the project sekai main cast a lot. A LOT A LOT!!! but i really like sending love and support towards side characters because for one, there’s not many fans so there’s less toxic ones… or the defensive fans. ( they’re so annoying omg. i love yuuki but idgaf if you like her too… like that’s fine with me… like what makes you happy bro😭😭😭 ) i’ve unfortunately ran into some of them already but there’s definitely less of them than the ones for the main cast.
