Don't Make This Silly Mistake When It Comes To Your Item Upgrades

Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a common and essential way to boost the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment is often superior to upgraded Common or Magic equipment because of their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They boost the stats of whatever item they are connected to. Upgrades to armor are available in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using a professional or higher salvage kits to retrieve upgrades from the items.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to absorb. The absorption of damage by an item of armor will increase when it is upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be more heavy.

There are a variety of armor upgrade available in the game. Each one has a distinct impact. For instance, certain upgrades give the armor a certain number of additional health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The name of the upgrade will indicate the kind of upgrade an item can be given, as illustrated below.

Some upgrades are magic or a mix of technology and magic which is indicated by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Some upgrades also require a fee to use, which is shown by a "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges associated with these upgrades are updated every day or never expire, according to the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest way to upgrade your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small treasure chests. Titanium is more expensive, however, it is available at the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to armor pieces of the highest level. These upgrades can provide significant improvements in stats and are a worthwhile cost, especially for single-handed weapons.

A piece of armor upgraded to max upgrade level will dramatically increase its defense capabilities, but the player should be aware that putting more weight on it will drastically reduce its agility and speed. This is why it is generally not recommended to upgrade armor pieces above +9, since the defensive boost gained is usually not worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades needed.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Certain firearms also have upgrades that improve their innate qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, minimizes the possibility of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's acceleration for greater damage) are two examples.

Most upgrades for weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade for applying. These can be obtained by completing side quests or killing a certain amount of monsters and bosses.

Upgrades to a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost of a certain number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars required to complete it. If item upgrader have multiple upgrade materials The cost of upgrading will be less.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a certain number of Bars. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would reset.

It's possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. It is better to purchase gear with minimal upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. They will also be able to give you the most prestigious bonuses and blessings.

To improve their skills faster, most players will be more inclined to upgrade their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates utilize to increase their power. Shepard, for example should upgrade his M92F so that he can unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are used in the armor's sockets and weapons, increasing the power of a character and bringing about secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method of making them, in which you combine gemstones with specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the jewel is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be found around the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and, sometimes, by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.

The quality of a diamond can be improved upon by the Jeweler, in stages that range from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts can vary depending on the tier the jewel is in when it is inserted into weapons, jewelry, or equipment.

The Jeweler is able to create all tiers of gems, except for the rare and legendary ones that you must attain a certain level to get. Unlike other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped with a jewel of the same type without destroying it. You can only replace the gem once within an item of equipment.

Utilizing more jewels in a movement will make it more smooth, and is often performed for aesthetic reasons. The jewels can also enhance performance and make an outer layer that is more durable than metal so that repeated friction caused by pivots does not damage them.

A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the look of your shields and weapons. These glyphs give a slight boost in power and can be exchanged, however they're not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs, just like jewelry, can be upgraded at the Jeweler to exchange gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as aegis or traits cannot be swapped, and can only be recovered with an Upgrade extractor or salvaging using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are pieces of equipment that provide an array of small, but beneficial benefits to your hero. They are available in the starting area as loot or as personal story rewards. They can also be obtained from vendors as well as through completing road interaction. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinkets that a player unlocks will be the cloak. It grants an unimportant but beneficial boost to speed of movement and evasion. Then, they can get amulets, rings, and necklaces in the same way to how a player acquires armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that accepts either a universal upgrade or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and are only compatible with certain trinkets.

These trinkets also provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active even when the character is not fighting. This lets a hero be more efficient when they are not active. It can also compensate for the absence of good team or talent tree slots which are usually filled by the hero's best stats.

As a general rule, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace soon. Also, consider items with desirable statistics that are less significant than the iLevel for the item that is to be upgraded. This is particularly true if an item has multiple stats you'd like to upgrade, as it's often better to upgrade just one important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.

At the beginning of the game players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their trinket to a red, while top and middle players usually choose either a pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices can affect the ability of a hero to control the map.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players will find other trinkets that form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. These can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story, like finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a particular boss. You can check them out by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
