PASH! October Issue — MADGUY Interview Translation

"Sorry for being messy... But, that's just how we are... let's just go with that."

Huge thank you to @Chips_n_Cookies for letting me read and translate this wholesome MADGUY interview! Please enjoy the interview!

Nothing has changed since your days at the Academy?!

Interviewer: —What are your first impression of each other since your days at the Academy?

Agata: First Impressions, huh....

Kyosuke: What's with that weird look on yer face, like you squashed a bug or somethin'

Kamui: If you phrase it like that, it's more like he's chewing on a bitter bug. [1]

Kyosuke: Ha? Whatever. Doesn't really matter. The thing is, this narcassist bastard was already weird from the start. Aniki is probably also strugglin' to keep up with him.

Kamui: Don’t look at me with those filthy eyes. You’re tainting my beauty. Honestly... You haven’t changed at all since those days.

Kyosuke: Ha?! What did you say?! You wanna piece of—

Kamui: Fine. Today I'll show you what beauty really is with that stupid head of yours.

Agata: Oi, both of you, cut it out. We're not getting anywhere with this.... Sorry about these two, they really haven't changed. They were always arguing and filled with energy even after we first met. I actually thought it was kinda fun. I guess they don't need to ask you two about your first impressions again but…

Kyosuke: It's all because of this narcassist bastard.

Kamui: It's not worth my time to talk to this muscle brained-idiot. Who, from head to toe, is made entirely out of muscle.

Agata: I guess that's that. By the way, you haven't talked about your first impression of me.

Kyosuke: Aniki has always been like this too. Even when we're in the middle of a fight, he'd just intervene like it's nothin’. He got some guts.

Kamui: At first, I thought he was just some annoying guy who kept insisting I should get along with him. He’d always get himself involved in everything and made things harder for me.

Kyosuke: Is there even anyone that'll easily get along with ya?

Agata: Haha, well. It's exactly the impression I expected from the two of you.

Interviewer: —If you have any memories of your time at the Academy, please share them!

Agata: Speaking of memories, there was one that required Uryu and the other two from Class B to gather all the scattered stones around the Academy.

Kyosuke: Ohh, that's the one where this guy got lost, right?

Kamui: I wasn't lost. I felt inspiration flow over me and was merely doing some artistic work. Speaking of which, you were the one who was destroying scraps for your 'meat training'.

Agata: You guys were straying on your own, which made things harder for me and Uryu. We barely even get to finish the task. Remember when Uryu scolded the two of you to not fight after that?

Kyosuke: Heh, so what if we did? We still finished it anyway.

Kamui: It's not like I agree with this muscle-brained idiot, but nothing is more important than my own creativity, no matter the task. Still, we ended up finishing it at the end, so I don't see why that's a problem?

Agata: ...It's not often you two get to agree on something.

You live in an abandoned hotel, but you’re surprisingly comfortable with it.

Interviewer: —Ever since you began working as a Kamen Rider, what is the biggest impression that has left with you since then?

Kyosuke: Oh I remember we went into that Chaos World and fought with those fuckers, it was really fun! I'd wanna join into a fight like that again! [2]

Kamui: That's quite a barbaric way of thinking. Nethertheless, I have to admit that I still looked beautiful even in the Chaos World...! If I get to encounter another one like that sparks my inspiration like that, I'll give it a go again.

Agata: Yeah. That was the Chaos World of the Movie Director at the Theatre. It was really tough, because we always get caught in between gang fights...

But hmmm, what left the biggest impression on me was escaping the Academy and ended up living in the Abandoned Hotel together.

Kyosuke: That's right. I never thought I'd be living with that narcassist for the second time, especially with my Aniki. The room's always a mess with this guy around, cuz his face is plastered all over the place...

It's so unpleasant when our eyes meet, it's just like from our Academy days.

Kamui: It's so unfortunate that you do not understand the value of living in this wonderful environment where you can always admire my beauty. While I do need Agata-shi to help with my artistic creation, you leaving wouldn't be a problem regardless.

You can take your meat training equipment, and other eyesore things with you and leave this instant.

Agata: Hey now, I wasn't really that much help, I just reluctantly helped out sometimes. Sure, you two do fight almost everyday and there are times where I think it gets really hard to live with you two...

But I think the reason why we keep fighting and are still together is because we share the same goal. By the way, the Agent and Butler have already talked a few times about how they plan to support our living arrangements because they're worried we're living under difficult conditions.

Since our workplace is nearby, the space is wide and can be used at any time. In one way or another, everyone, including me, can bring different things and do as they please. So it's surprisingly comfortable to live in, and I like it.

Kamui: I have no intention of moving out until I have completed my giant creation and made the entire hotel into my canvas.

Kyosuke: HAAA?! Yer fucking face is already all over the damn hotel!!! This guy is unbelievable. Well, it doesn't matter since it's already fallin' apart and it's actually nice that I get to smash it during meat training.

It's comfortable to live here except for that narcissist bastard being here!!

Agata: "Home is where the heart is" or so they say. We're actually comfortable living here.

Interviewer: —What did you do this summer? Or do you have any plans in mind?

Kyosuke: I went to the mountains, the beach, ate lots of meat and did lots of meat training!!

Kamui: What a poor way of living. I avoid going outside as much as possible during the summer. Getting sunburned and damaging your skin is the most foolish thing you could possibly do to yourself.

Nevertheless, there were times I couldn't resist the temptation of inspiration... But during that, I apply all the sunburn prevention measures while I continue to work on my artistic work.

Agata: When it gets this hot, It makes me want to go to the beach or somewhere far away, so I rode my motorcycle a few times.

Kyosuke joined me sometimes, but Narushi never tagged along because he's sensitive to the sun. But the view from the coast was really beautiful, I thought Narushi might find some inspiration just by seeing it. How about we go there together next time?

Kamui: Me, as transparently beautiful, against the coastal view....? Hmph, It can't be helped if it's for the sake of my artistic creation. I'll make sure to apply UV protection and you put up a large parasol, then I'll go.

Kyosuke: Why should we have to go through that stuff? You can just stay holed up at home. Aniki, how about a beach flag competition next time!

Kamui: If you have time for that, then you should also have time to hold an umbrella for me.

Kyosuke: HA? Someone like you should get a sunburn once in a while to teach you a thing or two!

Agata: C’mon, cut it out already. It's gonna get even hotter here. Sorry for being messy... But that's just how we are... So, don't be too surprised and I hope you can keep supporting us, Agent.

Translation notes:

[1] Kamui described it as 苦虫 which translated to “bitter bug” but it’s to describe it when someone has an unpleasant look on their face. Or “sourpass” in English.
[2] Araki described the “thugs” as チンピラたち which is a derogatory term of people street criminals or street thugs, especially in the context of Ninkyo Eiga-den where it’s a Yakuza-based movie. I made it sound more rough in Araki’s wording.
