Download Pirate
Context
- September 03, 2024: r/Piracy and FMHY have brought back Download Pirate, but it is no longer featured as a starred item.
- August 29, 2024: After a few days of pirating Microsoft Office, a user reported that their Discord and Spotify accounts were hacked.
- Once again, r/Piracy has removed Download Pirate to be on the safe side, but there is zero evidence to support the claims.
- Some users suggested FMHY as an alternative, only to find that Download Pirate had been starred. Soon after, FMHY also decided to remove it. Additionally, their following Monthly Updates from September 01, 2024 (deleted for reasons unknown) omitted any mention of Download Pirate which means it's likely they may be conducting further investigations.
- February 17, 2024: One user seemingly downloaded a Trojan while trying to install free Adobe software, which likely enabled a hacker to take control of their accounts, including Reddit, Steam, and Twitter.
- r/Piracy added the site to the Unsafe Sites list as a precaution but later reinstated it due to the lack of evidence from the original poster. FMHY had also completed their investigation (deleted for reasons unknown) into the issue, and determined it to be secure.
Safety
- Multiple tests conducted by a specific user on various products showed that they were all deemed safe. This suggests that the site is clean. Nevertheless, to maximize safety, it is still advisable to use uBlock Origin.
