Where to find cool references for animated videos

like to look at template/stock sites like envato elements, VideoHive or other similar sites to see what are recent trendy template looks.

Vimeo for longer forn stuff - explainers, short stories, ads etc.

Pinterest for creating mood boards or inspiration pages.

Instagram for lots of short and small unique animations. I tend to find lots random cool loops I save for later as an inspiration.

search for motion graphics, visual effects, c4d, cinematography, design, animation and 3d related tags.

In conclusion,

The video/3D design field
doesn't require certifications and focuses primarily on portfolios.

While it varies by company, you need to confirm which tools they use.

For game companies, proficiency in Unity and Unreal Engine is required.
For video companies, you need to be skilled in the tools used by the specific video company you're targeting.

When creating, get inspiration mostly from
Behance + Pinterest + YouTube.

It's not just about watching motion graphics; the more diverse genres you see—math videos, etc.—the better.

It's also good to search for UI designs from popular recent games.
If you don't play games, you should actively search for and gather plenty of video or screenshot references yourself.

When see designers producing their output, I'm curious about how they made it,
but what I'm most curious about is, “How did they even think to make it like this?”

While mastering tools and creating stunning graphics is important,

believe designers with truly excellent design skills are those who also skillfully plan what to express and how to convey it through those graphics.

As came to understand the importance of planning,
realized that planning is actually the crucial backbone of all creative work. Yet, it's also something everyone overlooks and finds difficult.

However,
Most of the challenges designers face are generally solved by time and experience.

While everyone has different sites they visit, for example,
I primarily collect references by regularly checking X (Twitter), Behance, and watching a wide variety of YouTube content. set aside specific days for reference scraping

though this varies by person and situation and make it a habit to save around 300 images with distinct moods on those days, based on photos.

While building this habit, memorize the social media accounts of dozens of my favorite creators.
If there are too many, document and save hundreds of them separately.

Before starting a video project, go through all the social media feeds of dozens of these creators, reviewing each piece of work one by one to use as reference.

In fact, it's crucial to view and record a lot of resources themselves on a regular basis.

Honestly, I'm not sure how meaningful design trends really are.

I don't know if they'll get a lot of immediate reactions,
but I also don't know if they make for a good portfolio or if they're good design.

It actually feels like blatantly chasing trends.

Design trends change frequently,
and I'm not sure if these elements will still be good for a portfolio in 1-2 years.

However, while it's good to know trends and use them when absolutely necessary,
I don't think it's necessary to force yourself to chase them.

In Korea, the leading CG academies are S1 Academy, CG5, SF Film, and EnjoyCG.
If you're specifically aiming for a job at a game company, I recommend EnjoyCG.

It's common to get academy recommendations or enroll together through acquaintances or connections.
As a side note, confiding your worries to a chatbot (AI) can provide surprisingly good career counseling.

✨ Bonus) Guide to Discovering “Otaku 3D Motion Graphics” Artists

This guide is for those seeking unique, highly distinctive 3D motion graphics works
distinct from typical searches (cinematic animations, product ads, etc.).

Key Pathways to Finding the Right Work

If you prefer videos emphasizing morphing and dynamic motion,
we strongly recommend exploring the following pathways.

  1. Rhythm Game BGA (Background Animation)
Rhythm game music videos (BGAs) are a treasure trove of 3D motion graphics, embodying the essence of otaku culture and doujin music.
  1. Doujin Music/BMS Events (BOF/BOFU)
Rhythm game-related competitions/events like BOF (Be-Music Original Festival) or BOFU (BOF: U.N.L) are platforms where numerous talented doujin artists participate.
  • Utilizing BOF Events: For example, searching for events from specific years like BOF21 allows you to discover countless excellent videos matching your taste.

How to Discover and Save Favorite Artists

Once you find videos matching your taste, the most reliable method is to find and follow the creator.

  • Identify the Creator: If you find a music video (BMS) you like, always check the BGA creator (Visual Artist) for that song.
  • Explore SNS: Finding and saving the creator's personal SNS (mainly X/Twitter) or portfolio is the most reliable way to consistently enjoy their work.

Additional Exploration Paths

  • Fan Music MVs: Explore many fan music composers and search for their official MVs on YouTube to discover 3D motion works that match your taste.
  • X (Twitter) Search: Directly search X (Twitter) using keywords like ‘BGA’ to find active individual artists in this field.

✨ Bonus 2) 서브컬처 MV(보컬로이드, 동인 음악 등)를 제작하고, 이런 영상 제작을 진로로 삼으려고 할때

Copy and paste the Korean text below into the chatbot(gemini, chatgpt etc)!

The reason I intentionally wrote this in Korean is.

For the rest of the content, copy and paste the above text into a chatbot like https://gemini.google.com/
then keep replying "네!" in the chat, and it will provide specific introductory methods.

https://www.google.com/search?q=In+practice%2C+chatbot+like+ChatGPT+were+extremely+useful+when+learning+video+tools+like+After+Effects+and+Premiere+Pro

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+guide+ChatGPT+learning+video+tools+like+After+Effects+and+Premiere+Pro

In practice, chatbot like ChatGPT were extremely useful when learning video tools like After Effects and Premiere Pro.

For example. Using chatbots like ChatGPT,
use this to create simple expressions [small pieces of code to loop and extend animations]
and scripts for After Effects projects. It’s come in handy for writing scripts to streamline certain processes;

it’s also been helpful in expanding expressions further to be used in slightly different ways.
If you paste an expression, it’ll explain what the code is doing line by line.

To specialize solely in After Effects,
you don't need to study math like “coding” or “JavaScript.”

However, “if you want to create your own After Effects presets,”
some basic math study is required.

But rather than needing difficult math like “high school math,”
I believe what's needed is the mindset to think mathematically.

Mathematical knowledge itself isn't required.
Knowledge equivalent to basic arithmetic operations is sufficient.

While thoroughly understanding how specific After Effects features operate and their underlying principles,

https://youtu.be/ZibkMbbDT5c
being able to think mathematically as demonstrated in the video above,
and having a slight grasp of JavaScript is sufficient.

Studying mathematics isn't the crucial part.
